My go fast bits for the VspecII are hear, and with a bit of luck they will be in the car by next weekend.

Pictured in the below shots are.

RB25 airflow meters

Apexi pods

HKS dump pipes

HKS GTSS turbos

Trust remote oil filter and cooler kit

Apexi PFC and handset

Tomei PON type B 260/260 drop in CAMS

Blitz SBC SpecR boost controler

600cc Nismo injectors

Im also waiting on a Tomei 1mm head kit & Sump baffel

I already have a 90mm exhaust, carbon fibre cold air box and a twin plate ceramic clutch.

It should be nice once its all done and tuned, then I suppost I should head off to the drags to see how it goes, followed up with a full day at one of the tracks.

curious to know if this is the boost controller of choice at the moment? I would have to say I almost have a mirror image of bits on my garage floor.... sans the boost controller! I still cant work out which one to buy! I currently have a turbosmart 2 stage thing.... is that any good? (came with the car)

cheers....

This is easy to answer, I wanted a dual solinoid, and the unit had to be small enough to fit into the ash tray. This one suited my needs. It just so happens it was installed yesterday. Everything was ok except for the boost gauge tube. It was not long enough and made from shitty plastic, so if you do buy it make sure you grab 2-3 meters of better tube. I actually need an english manual for it. I have set the boost to 1bar and it is working well, but it has so many functions and I dont know how to use it correctly. If anyone can help it would be appreciated.

Blitz SBC SpecR, english manual

As a side note, I also have the inj, airflow meter's, pods and untuned PFC install, boosted to 1 Bar, the car feels very nice to drive. Cant wait for the completed product!

ok cool.... I was looking at a pack online that came with 3 m of nice blue piping.... seems to be a common thing with these items! about $450 too! I think the dual boost sol. is the way to go also.... please keep us informed when it is all tuned! I will be doing the same on my "old" R32 GTR soonish with a Jim CRD tune.....

This might be a stoopid question, but one of those dumps looks a little funny, almost like it has an inner metal "skin".

If you look at the shot which shows almost the full length of the cams you can see down the exhaust end of one of the dumps, and the3re is a shiny metal ring that looks seperate to the flange, is that actually the case and if so why?

the flange ID is the same as pipe OD.. so pipe is smaller and does look silly just like you spotted.

so those hks dump pipes is only good for small size turbos like factory items, 2510/gtss is just about to get a little choked but still ok.

  • 2 months later...

Well,

After a long journey the parts are all on, and the car is running.

Two weekends ago the engine came out, turbo's, dumps, cams, sump baffle and oil kit went on (I already had the PFC, Pods, AFM and boost kit on. The car was back on the road by Tuesday. We ran out of time so the head gasket did not get put on. So I have a 1mm Kit for sale if any needs one.

We had a couple of highlights. The crank bolt took 40 min to take off eventually taking two 100Kg men hanging off an 8ft extension pipe to crack. Finding I had no blow off valves, forgetting to tighten #1 turbo oil feed and finding out my clutch was gone and attempting to press out the HKS clutch bearing only to find out you open it with a small screw drive were amongst the highlights.

We had a couple of things to fix before I was happy with the car. Firstly find some BOV's. Judd was kind enough to lend me his HKS's which are now on the car. #1 turbo was still leaking some oil and water, the oil temp was not working and the boost was not being controlled (I had unlimited boost).

On Sat morning #1 turbo came off to find the oil return was not nipped up and the water feed copper pipes were not seated properly. The oil temp was a simple connector and the boost was fixed by blocking a return pipe.

The car is running well but I need to replace my clutch and get it tuned. Within a week or two I should be able to supply some power figures.

Picking a workshop to tune is proving to be a big step as well. Everyone has an opinion and everyone has good and bad stories. You have Ben at Bell performance, UAS, Adam at Just Engine Management, Croydon, Hills motor sport, City performance.

I’m thinking of borrowing an Air fuel meter and doing my own street tune!

The car feels strong but it will do better with a good tune.

Anyway I will let you know what I get when I dyno it.

good work mate. that was my GTR being tuned at UAS when you walked into the dyno room covered in black sh1t to ask Ben how to remove the release bearing. I would have said hi but I didn't recognise you under all the grease!!

It was only after you left I realised who it was.

I'll be very interested to see how it goes mate.

    • That still isn't a lot to go on. I don't have a Y50 Fuga Head Unit wiring diagram. I can say that a lot of nissans of that age shared head unit plugs, so if you are in Australia something like this would probably help: https://aerpro.com/app091# You plug that into the car loom, then either plug the head unit ISO into that (if it has ISO), or you buy and ISO adapter harness that you wire in. Bit of stuffing around, but once you have ISO its easy to change things in future.
    • It is a kunfine Android screen . Does anyone know the wirering diagram of the fuga ??
    • just an update to this, poor man pays twice  Tried sanding down the pulleys but it didnt do the trick. Chucked another second hand alternator in the na car which I got for free off my mate and its fixed the squelling. Must have been unlucky with the bearings.    As for my turbo car, I managed to pick up a cwc rb alternator conversion bracket + LS alternator for 250 off marketplace, looked to be in really good nick. Installed it , started the car and its not charging the battery.... ( Im not good with auto elec stuff so im not sure if this was all I needed to do but I verified such by using a multimeter on the battery when the engine was running and I was only getting 12.2v )   I had to modify the earth strap for the new LS alternator , factory earth strap was a 10mm bolt which did not fit the bolt on the LS alternator which was double the size so I cut it off , went to repco bought some ring terminals that fit, crimped it onto the old earth strap and bolted it up to the alternator , started the car and same issue. Ran like shit and was reading 12.2 at the battery.  For a "plug and play" advertised kit thats not very plug and play but alas.  My question is , am I missing something ? Ive been reading that some people recommend upgrading the stock 80 amp alternator fuse to a 140 amp but I dont see how that would stop the alternator charging especially at idle not under load.  Regardless ive pulled it out and am going to get it bench tested by an auto elec tomorrow but it would be handy to know if ive missed something silly or have done something wrong.
    • My wild guess is that you have popped off an intake pipe....check all of the hoses between the turbo and the throttle for splits or loose clamps.
    • Awesome, thanks for sharing!
