A P plater cant drive a turbo these days...

only in nsw, in good old vic. we can, if it weren't for the fact my car is off the road at the moment then i'd be driving around in it still.... by the way, its an auto turbo R33, and it beats standard ( well what look/sound like ) standard commys, and my cars only got a pod and exhaust, hardly a huge power booster, oh yeah.... and a turbo ;)

Warren you need to relax ;)

I only 'ever' type something if I am confident in what i am saying, the problem with all these kind of threads is people like yourself (and ARKON) compare modified Skylines with Standard competitors making any comparison totally irrelevant, liner32 in his first post said the R33 has an exhaust otherwise stock...why then assume its modified and say it'll beat a V6 or V8 VT Commodore..?

Arkon from your sig I can see your car is hardly standard, hence i'm sure it would beat a TJ Magna, my 'standard' Magna ran a 15.8, a 'standard' R33 GTsT would be no quicker ;)

i challenge you to find a "standar" R33 gts-t anyways.... one that has not been modified to any extent at all, that is completely and exactly the way it came from the factory...... i doubt u'd be able to do it.

are 300zx's any good?

They are good untill you run into trouble with them, then you will find yourself paying an arm and a leg to get the Ba5tard repaired. Labour on that car is a B1tch.

As for the question, Sorry guys, but a relatively std VT should beat a relatively stock GTS....especially if the VT is a V8 (SS or something like that). No biased opinion here either, i cant stand comonwhores but whats fair is fair.

Liner32, i would probs go a n/a Supra myself....and to answer your question, i used to own a EF XR8 ...... it chopped my sisters VT Aclaim, however, my mates N/A supra chopped my XR8.

According to him, it was some TRD special, but i think thats bullshit, looked stock with an exhaust if you as me.

Good luck in your search

It's coz working in the 300 engine bay is a mission.....far too congested.

too right, its like a freakin jungle that if your not to careful you can get lost in.

as for the comment about a vt beating a gts, i totally agree, lets face it, skylines arent all unbeatable, theres lots of stuff out there that could flog the cars we drive, but sif any of us want to admit it, but a standard gts with nothing but exhaust is no "performance" car, if thats the case my mates lancer with an exhaust is a performance car to.....

unless your in a relatively modified enough to make 12-13 second pass gts skyzzer thats when you can brag about your car and what it would beat.

a todays commo would drill you, 1995 commonwhore against 1995 GTS prolly be more like a competitive race.

Just go and get an R32 GTR!!!!!!! dont know if you'll need to do much to it but least we are playing in the same price range. Problem solved, and even if you lose, lets see which car gets you around better on a track or tight cornering.

    • Drain it. I got official Matic D but you can get whatever is listed as Matic D compatible.
    • Thanks guys,  Yeah I should at least have them dynoed, at least then I know what I've got as a starting point.  The springs on these are hard as rocks. I vaguely remember Russman saying he was going to sell the shocks to me with the rocks fitted, as he was keeping the softer springs for his new setup.  I didn't click at the time but of course that was to let me know the shock/spring wouldn't be matched.  I also remember pricing up new springs around 2014-15, but, house, money etc. it never happened. So that was another reason to have them rebuilt. I have rebuilt the forks on many motorcycles so I think I could handle the seals on these easily enough, but getting the valving right would be a rabbit hole I cbf exploring.  Duncan, interesting to hear RP was tuning these back then. I might give them a call.  In the mean time I have been busy fitting sway bars. The Whiteline rear sway bar I purchased 15 years ago finally got fitted, along with the Whiteline front bar that showed up last week. Just waiting on new links for the front sway bar to finish that off.  And my spare set of advan AVS VS5's should be back from the powder coaters in a Pearl White finish sometime this week, with a set of Hankook RS4's lined up for fitting.  And then I just have all the suspension bushes to do. A comprehensive kit is on the way... Lots to do before the Ararat hill climb. Cheers guys 🍻
    • Nice car! I’m glad folks in the US have gotten past the FnF and are buying real cool cars like the 260RS I was with a bunch of mates in Portland about a year ago and spotted a green Stagea (just a regular 2.5T AWD) parked about 2 blocks away and they were like “a what?” So I made a bet with them for a round of beers and said “ok one of you run down there and tell me if the steering wheel is on the correct side” 5 mins later the American comes trudging back up the hill and goes “he’s right guys. Ok what beer do you want?”
    • Should replace OR drop the tank, give it's good clean. Might be worth replacing that entire fuel level/pump/cradle thing with this: https://frenchysperformancegarage.com/products/fpg-s13-180sx-r32gtst-single-pump-hanger-kit-billet-hat-6-v3-fpg-089?gQT=2
