"you people"

you sound really open minded...

i love ba xr6t's.. they make for an awesome daily driver, ive flogged a couple pretty hard, and im impressed.. but they are simply to heavy for serious track work as a standard car ... of course you can strip them out etc, but they are still porky

I won't just gun for a slower car than mine, I like to test my driver skill by looking to keep up with quicker or evenly matched cars to mine. If any of you have a GTR or GTS-t that can beat my car then good on you. I wont just up my power figure to 1000hp with 3000Nm of torque, I really don't care. I won't defend my XR6T against a faster Nissan. I love imports also, Evo's, GTR's etc. I was as closed minded as you were about my choice of car, but when I had to pick a demo car that people were going to begin modifying I picked the Falcon. And since it surpassed my expectations so wildly I just thought I'd educate you people on the potential of these cars.

If all you wanted to do was educate us then there was a better and smarter way that you could have achieved this. First of all show us a genuine dyno sheet and time slip, introduce us to the car, some engine bay shots. Maybe record a video of you doing 330kph+. Most of the guys would love to believe you, but without evidence you are just another guy claiming what seems like absolute bull shit on an internet forum.

I agree (as a standard car) they do feel very heavy and soggy with not alot of power for compensation. The only thing they're good for when standard is burnouts, but when you wan't to do some occasional track work or some serious high speed runs then definetly consider my level of modifications.

actually I will vouch for hungry6 as will a few other people in Qld when they get to read this thread

quite a few people here in Qld know who is and what he does and he isn't talking bs

I have seen his GTS-T at Gavin Woods Autotech and it is an absolute beast and I believe the GTR is there as well getting it's high power rebuild.

I have nothing against a xr6t , as I said before our company actually has a fleet of the porker. They make very good day to day transportation, has excellent resale, but I wouldn't go as far as saying with ALOT of power they'll hit 340 kays, the thought of that is ridiculous. Honestly, I don't think, it even possible, body harmonics at those speed would rip a bog stock body in half.

Thank you Nexus9.

Asides from 339 rwkw, what do you have to make it a track car?

otherwise its going to be quick in a line, eat its brakes up in a lap or two and plough off the track at the first tight corner...

At the end of the day we don’t really know if it can be done. If it can be done I would like to know, I don’t know why … I guess this thread has become so long now it would just be nice to know. So XR6T man if you want to actually make some waves post some pics and get a video of you hammering the car. If it can be done and you show it to us we will all have to accept it. If you don’t then its just another silly claim made on an internet chat forum!

Ok, im not 100% if these ratios are correct...but they are what i could find based on a search and guesstimate of your tyre diameter.

To pull 331km/h, thats using a tyre with a 632mm diameter, a final drive ratio of 3.45 and a 4th gear ratio of 0.73, you will need 7,000rpm.

What rpm is your engine limited to? And are those ratios right. If the thing can rev out in top gear to over 6,000rpm then anything is possible, though she would be an exciting old ride

What's the chances that XR6T is going to take his car back to NT where there is no speed limit just to take a vid for us. LOL

Although I agree some vids would be nice. Not that I have any doubts. Wouldnt' mind seeing what's it like compared to the 330rwkw F6 Typhoon shown in the clips on this forum.

I don't have a copy of the finished dyno run as of yet on my computer but I do have one of when it was 270rwkw if you want that then it's here, I'll get the finished one as soon as I can. Sorry that I didn't take an in-car video I never thought to, I've told you the list of mods (you wouldn't be able to see them from a basic engine bay shot) and plus I really don't think my claims are that unbelievably wild that they're beyond your comprehension.

Sorry, I don't think the graph worked very well, I hope you can read it. It was done by the most advanced chassis dyno in Australia used by Graham West Workshops, soon to have the name A.P.E - Adelaide Performance Engineers.

I want to see it GPS at those speeds, as most speedos are way out of whack, at the uper end. When a speedo say your doing 300kay, the most you probably doing is 280-285, and, that's a 15 kays different at the top end. Just a guide, the power has to rise on a 1/cosine curve to over come aeros at those speed.

But im curious, what have you done to the brakes and susp to get the times out of it at Mallala. Im lookign to get a novated lease and if i could get a car that could cut some decent times then ill jump at it. I was thinking more monaro then XR6, as whilst i have been in one that went well for a stocka, it didnt scream potential fun track car thats all.

You havent commented if you are keen on the Mallala day?

My car is by no means the quickest, but it takes a pretty well sorted GTR to be quicker :P

    • Ok guys thank you very much. GCG highflow it is then 🙂
    • forgot to mention that when it does this it does not kill the engine, but I have not kept the pedal down long enough to let it, as I see no reason to beat up on it as its got to be something simple, small and dumb causing this.  And as soon as I let off pedal, the engine returns to its normal super smooth operation and rpms re-stabilize quickly, once below 4k.
    • neither stumble or cut really seem to be an appropriate term....hard to explain its like a rev limiter but at 4k, but it violently shakes engine and entire vehicle as the rpms will not rise over 4k, even with slow acceleration. as soon as it hits 4k, it sounds like entire spark is lost entirely. plugs were 1.1 which I used as such, but later put in new plugs gapped down to .8 changed back after issue arose when I replaced the coils, still does it with either plug gap...damn and it was all running so good.
    • Oh how times have changed! I actually lean it out relative to my water/methanol injector duty cycle. The methanol adds a lot of fueling and you can then lean it out even more due to reduced knock.
    • Yeah my thoughts are the same, a well thought out WMI setup, would be slightly ahead of just straight E85 and you're also chemically intercooling the charged air, dropping it even further. This is why you need to add so much more fuel as soon as you spray. I remember someone taking me through their set up before (Dennis, has a R33, lives around Cabramatta - no idea if he's still around on this forum). He would target AFR 10:1 on 98, then as WMI ramped on, AFR would lean back up to 11:1. Amazingly, he did this all through his PowerFC, a relay to cut power to his EBC solenoid if there was not enough line pressure on his WMI kit. And of course, if there wasn't any boost made above gate pressure, you wouldn't be accessing the load cells with heaps of timing for WMI. One downside to that rudimentary setup, once the WMI came on, the EBC would unleash the dragon, and of course all the timing. Tyres would fry lol.
