TommyK as kebab has said, getting a catch can is going to be helpful in the long run, as it will stop all that lovely oil you buy ending up in your intercooler... then intake....then lean..... then .... BANG even less chas for the suffering GF!

also don't look at the catch cans that you can buy off the shelf and the like, they just dont work!

go see Brian @ BEL and get him to show you what a propper can should be like....

oh and that power graph is great top end, but laggy as hell! Pete always said to me he had hardly any lag? hmmmm

I have talked to Ben about him using Jim's Dyno in the interim until there unit is online, and should be a good deal :D

go have a chat :(

thanks guys

i will speak to ben @ bel about the catch can. i will also speak to jim at dart :)

Petes setup looks laggy according to that dyno sheet. Perhaps i shouldnt be too worried ? I checked - I get 0.8 bar @ 4000 rpm in 4th gear :)

Havent tested any more.

i think so too

althoguh im a bt pissed at the moment, i seriously doubt that aynone with 2530s or these gt2560r turbos will have response as similar to gt-ss. I will be at the drags at wednesday. i will try and get to jim @ dart fairly soon, probably this week :P)

Anyway once i get my timesplit on wedn we can see

:D

dam i m pissed :D:D:D:D

i don't reckon .8 bar at 4000 is too bad. as long as they are spooling up hard at that point you should be hitting 1.5bar before 4500rpm. that still gives you 4000rpm or so to play with. sure it's a bit laggy for a street car but for drag (it seems that's what you're into) it should be apples.

oh and for anyone of interest.....

exhaust is progressing nicely!

just have a few finishing touches to be had!

all done by uncle mark of exhaust technology! http://www.exhausttechnology.com

anything to do with jun :D

Mark uses JUNBL Mufflers. Nothing to do with Jun Auto Mechanic.

hey williamsf1, has Marky Mark still got the S15 (which he refers to as the S one five)?? Haven't seen him out drifting in a while....

well i must say that is a very nice exhaust. could even see a power improvement. the X pipe looks particulary nice. the invisible cat is also a nice touch :D

The real question is how does it sound?

what is advantageous in having the x pipe? is it for balance of exhaust pressure?

my brothers gtr has got the apexi n1 twin system but it doesn't have a balance pipe - btw the twin pipes sound awesome :)

The real question is how does it sound?

Yep its JUN BL very high quality korean made gear, and seems to hold up to the punishment better than some.... (Mark has had these boxes on cars for a few years with few complaints...)

right now the car sounds absolutely fantastic on song!!! it is just worth the rev!!!

point of note there is a cat system going in, it just has to be designed a little bit to fit and work....

also, there is an apexi butterfly valve going in, basically in the centre of the X JUN crossover.... that way it still keeps that twin sound has balance characteristics and can be shut up at a moments notice for running at home, and any unwanted attention.....

this work will be completed thisarvo....

also uncle mark's S15 is engine-less right now, but will be back soon!!!

more pics to follow once the finishing touches are complete...

Marko its 63mm thin wall stainless :P

Mmm.. that's very clever :P Are you just going to use the manual adjuster or get one of those swish electronic controllers that changes the valve automagically?

it is a manual one, as the electric ones have not been too reliable in testing (water)

it has a handbrake type button that will lock it at any % of opening....

so basically mum and dad friendly with say 50-60% closed.... drive away and open it up

or full shut down at idle only and its a stocker....

once it is all set up more pics, and will do a power run also....Jim thinks there will be a gain to be had, as there will be less restriction, so now I can run less boost, and more timing to get the same result....or better

    • Am I correct in assuming that the R35's are getting the classic skyline haircut off the odometer?  Quick search on carsales, there are 33 08 and 09 GTR's for sale, only 2 of them have more then 100,000km's on them (116,075 and 110,000 respectively).  And somehow there are about 25 for sale with around 60,000kms? Looks like the classic skyline haircut to me =/
    • @Stringycheese  Have you only gone to the one blue slip workshop?  There will be a heap of them where ever you live, good odds that the next place you go to will pass the car.  Unfortunately (or fortunately?) every blue slip / engineering workshop will be different and will be happy passing or failing different things - despite working from the same set of rules. It's kinda like 2 lawyers arguing over a piece of legislation, each saying their interpretation is correct. Might seem strange that this happens when it comes to getting a modified car passed, but this is very much a thing. A big part of the game is finding an engineer / workshop that is on the same page as you.
    • Bah. I daily mine. ~60km per work day, 10-12 thousand km per year. What's the point of having a dirty old Datto and leaving it in the shed. It needs to be driven and enjoyed while the govco allows us to do so. It will only be a few years before we're forbidden to even start up internal combustion engines.
    • Judging by that spring perch and the normal looking spring on it - not a coilover. Well.... it is a coilover, just a stock format coilover, rather than what everyone calls a coilover.
    • Yes it is. We get stock from Nismo directly. I'm happy to take photos/video of it as proof before I ship it with timestamps or whathaveyou.
