Ordered the last few things i need to finish the car, got motivated today (hottest freaking day ever) and got through a fair bit.

Just need to order my injectors, get seat fix up and drop everything in ready for a tune.

Im hoping to have it running before the end of next month :P

My deep dish wheel is here and installed, fixed racing seat arrived yesterday and my 4pt harness the day before, both will be in on friday. also my FMIC is here, picking that up on friday and hope for sat install. Just waiting on my boost controller, apexi pod, nismo gear shift knob and dash led's. Should be picking up a fire extinguisher on fri as well as a helmet to get prepped for hill climbs :D

Are you installing a cage? IMHO it's a bad idea to have a 4 point harness without a cage. Watched a WRX end up on it's roof at Symmons and flatten the roof almost down to the belt line, if the driver had been in a 4 point harness it would have driven her head straight through her arse. Like I said, just my opinion.

wouldnt same rule apply if you were in a 5 or 6 point harness? granted they have the quick release mechanism.

I talking any harness in general be it 4, 5 or 6. Quick release is of no advantage once your upside down with your head through your arse and I don't think your gonna let your harness go half way through roll. Like I said this ir my opinion.

wogboy - very cool 31 mate.

funz - wogboys point is a harness forces you to sit up straight in the seat, in the event of a roll over a standard lap sash lets you duck towards the centre of the car to avoid the roof closing down... its certainly something to consider, or atleast be mindful of in a car that doesn't have even a half cage.

I used to run a harness in my s14 for club days to hold me in the standard seat better and that didn't have cage, but I was always always in the back of my mind to act fast if everything went pair shaped. I took the harness out when it was used the road for that reason, plus its a pain to wear all the time once you get over the coolness!

Wogboy. that is a sweet looking r32. thoe i profer the old wheels it had. i like the old school look. is it road regoed or is it a race only car?

t01-100 is that going to be the last white hot cage? for a while anyway or is ther still one or 2 to be finished.

guesty what is the new car?

my car is so very close to being a rb25de+t. i am keen as to drive it again and hopefull it will produce enough power for my likings. i am going to try and run all 5 drift series rounds in it plus a practice day before each of them so if i get a spare weekend id love to bring it out to a club day and get atime to work on. ive added a few average quality pics on its progress.

Yeah, I liked the old wheels too :D But they didn't fit in with the 5 stud conversion, got new wheels for the R34 so that left me with 2 sets of rims the red street rims and my track rims, all 5 stud. So something had to go. :)

thanks guys, yeah this is the last cage whitey is doing, at least professionally/commercially anyway.

needs a few things to finish it off, but should have it back early feb, then rip into the paint and mechanical... plan is to have it on track mid-year, but i'm keen on a single turbo conversion so cost might slow things down a little!

yeah, i understand your concepts, wasnt having a go or anything :(. I would get some sort of cage (if funds permitted) but as it's not a tangeable thing atm i just want something that will hold me in the seat for my first few track day/hillclimbs. As for road, the harness wouldn't bother me, as it is, my car is a gymnastics act to get in it since im only a short fella and sit so close :), so one extra fiddly task doesn't bother me lol.

I sold my GTR injectors and bought 550's instead, all up cost me another $200 but dont have to worry about any wiring, they are brand new with warranty.

Sounds like your car is coming along pretty well Damo, much left to go before its running???

UPDATE FOR ME: gauges arrived the other week (started to remove old ones) manifold is back on (didn't end up heat wrapping it though) replaced my harmonic balancer as it had a small crack in the lip, started prepping my rotor/hubs for a quick flick of paint and continued tidying the birds nest in the center console.

    • Oil change does not trigger code 21. Code 21 is for coilpacks primary side connection. You can try to clear the code with a battery disconnect, hold down the brake pedal to drain capacitors through the brake lights with the ignition on for 10-15 seconds before you reconnect the battery. I have seen R35 coil conversion permanently cause this code with no ill effects so it might be the resistance it wants to see isn't quite right on one or more coilpacks. Could be inside the ECU, could be the harness, could be a coil. You can test it all if you want or just ignore until the car actually starts misfiring.
    • I forgot you have a Nistune ECU. Use Nistune to do all the tests I mentioned instead of faffing with 30+ year old electrical connectors. You can read MAF volts off that too, there are reference values in the service manual to tell you roughly what it should be in different conditions.
    • No. I think it might be the AFM. Hence the use of the terms "swaptronics", which implies the use of swapping out electronics for the purpose of diagnosis. It's about the only way to prove that a small/niggling/whatever problem with an AFM or a CAS or similar is actually caused by that AFM/CAS/whatever. A known good item swapped in that still gives the same problem is likely to be caused somewhere else. They're all the same. Spraying AFMs with cleaner is an each way bet between cleaning it and f**king it.
    • Oh wow! This might actually work amazingly. Do you know the ratio of the diff? I was told the only thing you need to make sure of is if the front & rear diff ratios are the same. Ours is a 4.083 Thanks!
    • You think its the AFM? I know its a common issues on R32s. I find it coincidental how this issue raised right after cleaning the fuel system. As everything except the fuel system was fine before. I tried running it with the IACV unplugged but did not notice a difference and still stalled. However, the RPM gauge is not in the cluster right now, so I will need to connect the laptop again and use Nistune to check the RPM. I will check this weekend.
