I had the same trouble with one of my strut tops, it already had 2 stripped nuts. i just used a Nut & Bolt Grip Extractor. You should be able to pick a set up from bursons, repco etc.

so i went and bought some new sockets to go on my 1/2 inch breaker and with almost zero effore the nuts came off, even the slightly damaged one... so now ive installed fronts, and ill have to wait till another day to do the rears... which will be more fun!

so that was the biggest mofo ever, went onto doing the rears last week and the nut and stud were spinning together so had to work out how to get the parcel shelf out... couldnt, left it till after work the other day and removed two supports on the left and right that the parcel shelf sits on cause the 6 x 9 were in the way... and had to use vice grips to hold the stud and remove the nut... but got it done... now to test drive...

btw the rear on the r33 is a b***h but i guess if i ever have to do it again i know how :s

Stuck my flares on yesterday so I didn't get raped on the way to baskerville.

Will be rolling the guards this week some time as they scrubbed all the way there and back and then I'll sick the flares on for good

Don't worry about rolling, just cut it!

Might take you up on that, I'll send you a text when I'm down that way next, thanks

Not sure if you can see in the pics, my rear guard has sucked itself in I'll get a better picture today

how did that even happen? Do you reckon the old heat it up with a hair dryer and cool it down with a tin on compressed air upside down trick with fix it?

    • It's almost certainly a reluctor generating an "AC" waveform. No, ECUs don't generally read those - they're usually set up for PWM square wave 0-5v stuff.
    • Working through possible solutions of converting my mechanical speedo.    Anyone know what type of speedo sensor the factory r34 gtr getrag has ? what the output is ? I assume its not a VSS and more a voltage like earlier speedo sensors ? Can an ECU read it ?

    • I can get more photos of it here soon and I plan to make a thread detailing the process. I received the car this way and it sorely needs refinishing. That is probably the most appealing photo of it. Up close it is fading, cracked, and needs to be re-glued. Depending on their condition I'm on the fence between refinishing or making a new set.  Another angle hiding the pimples and razor pumps
    • According to this thread the RS4V with build plate RC40 comes with the R200 diff @ 4.083 ratio as well (mine has said RC40 denotation). We may need to check if the axle stubs are the same pattern as well. The auto subframes have longer axles. However I think yours being a later Series 2 as well, we should have the same bolt pattern for the diff stubs. Unless your upgraded rear also has upgraded axles. Either way, I would not be opposed to pulling the covers to check so I can inspect that  fancy rear core  Also I don't have HICAS. I don't believe that should change things but I hope the people here with heaps more experience than me can correct me if I'm wrong   Let me know if you want to attempt to make this work and I can get some pictures of mine from under the car.
