i wish i went with normal dumps like tomei or something single and large,

i'm using the trust split front/dump in one its rather large and kind of heavy.

i would kind of agree that split dumps were a fad? they might work, but when at full throttle, and max boost the gate is open to regulate the boost.. perhaps thats where the turbulence happens

I just picked up a set of Tomei dumps and wondering what front pipe people are using with its very largish diameter (76.3mm according to Tomei)? I've been looking at many jap brand websites to see what could mate up and most seem to offer 70mm. I'm just thinking of the flow effects if there is a "lip" because of the smaller diameter fronts.

I would get some custom made using 3" (76.2mm) pipe/tube, best way to go. Then you can get the exhaust place to merge them to what ever diameter and flange type you want to match your existing exhaust (or get them to make the rest of it to the back of the car).

And yes, doing it this way you well prevent any flow restrictions associated with a square edged "lip".

the largest I've been able to get are the HKS front pipes (don't buy secnd hand ones though as they updated their design a year or so ago). They are just over 70mm twin pipe into 85mm single. most GTR front pipes are 60 or 65mm twins into 70 or 80mm single. plus the HKS pipes are welded to the flanges on the inside of the pipes which gives no lip and a nice smooth transition from flange into pipe, good for flow. they are the best match I've found for the tomei dumps.

Any experience with the autobahn88 rb26dett dump pipes?

Here's a pic of them:

http://www.performance-wise.net/USERIMAGES...20OUTLET%20.JPG

Also are they the same as the JJR stainless dumps:

http://justjap.com/store/images/P/jjrdumpkitrb26.jpg

China crap is poorly welded, flanges often overlap causing restriction and due to taking little time to check angles on the welds means you may find that bolts or studs will not be able to be fully done up without machining off over weld.

JJR and I dare say Autobarn888, the later I would run a mile from in a big hurry.

I've seen 6 too many of these dumps and had to mahine everyone of them, a couple bolted up but, the overlap on flanges and weld protusions meant that if you did just bolt them up they would more restrictive than stock.

Get something custom made or buy something decent. getting the SOB's on and off isn't worth the small saving for buying a peie of crap.

The stock units can be used but, they are very poor flowing compared to an good set of aftermarket units. The stock ones are often poorly cast matched and the only set I ever retained I spent time with a die grinder on. Without a doubt some Tomei's would easily outflow them.

What about X-Force dump pipes? http://justjap.com/store/product.php?produ...=276&page=1 alternate picture: http://www.xforce.com.au/img/products/p25_01.jpg

I don't know much about X-Force, but at as a closer look they look the same as the Autobahn88 dumps.

re-read the post above yours...

all of those little short, split GTR dumps are a poor compromise. they have a tiny wastegate pipe, and a tiny main pipe too, and end up merging into a single 60mm pipe. and when poorly made are even worse. even the genuine hks ones that everyone copied are pretty average. i wouldn't use them, much less the copies.

so it doesn't matter whether autobarn88, jjr, xforce, china star or whatever you call them, they are all cheap for a reason. they are cheap. and they were all copied off a flawed design to begin with.

the dumps to go for are the tomei ones. this is what GOOD GTR dump pipes look like. if you can find some like this, that are good qual, and not tomei, then grab them. otherwise just stick with stock, or hold out for the tomei ones. they are worth the money.

My question was really aimed at the company itself, do X-Force just make chinese quality knockoffs made here in australia?

:domokun: fair enough. well I can't really comment on x-force quality but as far as I know they are just another company putting their name on chinese generic products (could be wrong though). the fact that their dumps look the same as all the other HKS copies tells you most of what you need to know. my advice is avoid ANY brand of HKS copy dump.

Are the Tomei dumps superior to the HPI and Power Enterprise dumps (apart from HKS and Tomei, HPI and Power Enterprise being the only other dumps available, except for the Mines And Nismo dumps which are 1.5k+):

HPI (3/4 the price of the Tomei dumps on nengun):

Power Enterprise (the same price as the Tomei dumps on nengun):

Surely someone must be able to produce something like that here for a decent price, make a jig and produce, if they do then I will be in for a set, I am about to change turbos and dont really have 1k to drop on some dumps, was going to go some xforce, or something but after reading some comments I have been turned off, I had a set which I bought off this form but never arrived (was so stoked about thet $300 down the drain). Anyway hope something comes soon.

I think I'll go with the Greddy/Trust extension pipe, front pipe+dump pipe in one: http://www.trust-power.com/02turbo/extention_fp.html Unless I can still source a 2nd hand front pipe in good nick, and pair them up to the HPI dumps I linked

just looking into these adaptors

Richard: the pipes are designed to take the R33/34 GT-R sensors, but Trust includes a little adapter that screws in to the hole and reduces the size so you can fit the R32 variety (

any one know where to go to get them?

anyone know inner diameter to genuine hks dumps (split type) on the side that connects to the front pipe.. being hks im hoping it wont have any probs being used with hks gt-ss turbos

on another note, here's a pic of tomei vs stock 32 dumps

whats the inner diameter of the tomei dumps??

i've just bought some from the states for around 840 delivered, (fairly good price these days)

i have a large lightweight titanium front pipe here which is around inner diameter of 70mm

hopefully they will be a good match

    • So.... the K&N air box thingo was too big, ended up gifting it to a mate, well, by gifting it he actually supplied food and beer at the pub,  which was nice, as it will not sit on a shelf in the garage for the next 10 years I did trim up some of the existing stuff to neaten it all up and gave it some wrinkle paint, unfortunately it currently has a used and abused mish mash of different types of hose clamps, 4 big fat T bolt type (shit), and a few normal clamps of vairing sizes and brands, but..... only until the 6 constant tension black worm clamps that I ordered from EFI solutions turn up next week Currently the current hose clamps are triggering me hard, LOL Is this the final version, probably not, I really want just 2 silicone pieces, a straight bit of silicone from the filter to the MAF is easy and will happen as soon as I head into Just Jap tomorrow, the problematic part is a 30° silicone bend from the MAF to the TB that I can connect the engine breather from the head, I found that there are bulk head fittings for boat bilge pumps that should work, but until I can get a 30° silicone bend the alloy pipe, and the 11ty thousand hose clamps, are there for the foreseeable future 4 hose clamps are golden, 6 are grudgingly acceptable, the 8 currently holding it all together is just taking the piss    I've also ordered 60 more retaining wall blocks for the front yard, I mis-gonculated the height that was required to get above the base of the Photinia's (red robin's) that are the hedge behind the front fence, currently it is 2 blocks high, and about 1/2 a block short, so going 3 blocks high will be above the base of the red robin's, and allow some room for mulch
    • It is the stock air box with the panel filter. Everything else is stock except the exhaust at this point, as I also went back to the cleaned 270cc injectors. I will check the RPM when the IACV is unplugged and report back.
    • As MBS suggested if this is happening when the engine is cold you're going to want to remove the intake air regulator and verify resistance + that the shutter is physically opening and closing. At -20C should be fully open, 20C half open, over 60C fully closed. At 20C should be 70-80 ohms. For AAC valve testing using a Consult cable see if you can raise and lower the idle by commanding more or less AAC duty cycle. Hopefully it's pretty linear as well, shouldn't be like 30% AAC valve is barely idling and 40% is 1500 rpm.
    • Bloody apprentices! 🙄
    • Not sure yet.  Was considering speedtek because it was rated to 800hp, but when I did some research about him I don't think I will go for that🤣 So maybe giken gear set, but I'm afraid it won't be strong enough🙄
