just looking for some info on the falken RX 04V (i think thats the code..maybe RX 042V, RX 04V2??) they are supposedly a sort-of-semi slicker, looks like a street tyre with fat chunky tread blocks, not like a RT 215 or RE55s bridgy.

i can pick up set for a good price but i cant even find anything via google on these tyres! nothing on the falkentire web site either...

any help would be great!

OOh i found something, but its not really any good to me. At least i can confirm the model number "RX-04V"

FALKEN RX-04V Sタイヤ 245-45-17(2本)

How can this tire be so hard to find details on!? Dont suppose anyones used or using them???

These ones right?

They are good I have used them once, got them for $220ea in 245/45/17 from Tempe Tyres

Definately better than any street tyre, but not among the best semis. If you want great but not best performance at a brilliant price grab em :D

no thats not them! They dont have a semi slick look at all, they just look like a road tire with chunky tread blocks. I think ill just buy em and try em!

The words "chunky tread blocks" should ring alarm bells.

The RX series of Falken Azenis are rally tyres (which also matches your description). Whoever told you that they're "some sort of semi slick" either misheard someone else talking about them being a type of Falken competition tyre, or trying to offload them after buying a whole bunch thinking they were RS or RT series tyres.

Are you building an R33 offroad rally car? If not, tyres you steal from a taxi will probably do a better job of providing you with traction than these things on sealed roads.

Here's Falken's actual motorsport range.

As you can see, the RX-04 series are winter rally tyres, which means that not only will they not grip very well on the tarmac, but they'll also overheat within minutes of light use.

You can buy and try, but I get the feeling if you're making 265rwkW that you're going to conclude your rhyme with "die".

The falkentire.com web site is the American site, and its pretty much useless for competition tyres. They only list Falken's street tyres, with the RT215 / RT615 being the pinnacle.

Azenis RS-VII

thats like what im talking about! im fairly sure the model number is different tho, but ill post em up when i get them. So go blow your snow tyres out your asses guys ;) hehe

LOL

PROBLEM SLOVED! now i feel better :D

As mitchy suggested the tyres i was asking about are in fact AZENIS RS-VII's.

The reason why i couldnt find any info on them is because these particular tyres are coded RX-04V, as i orginally posted. The reason for this is that these tyres are coded specifically for Australia and Canada, hence not bearing the RS-VII code as it would in Japan.

Definitly NOT snow tyres!!! so i wont be needing those snow chains sewid. :P:) lol

I thought it was iffy at first with the model number situation, but as you can see, they are identical to the RS-VII's.

see? like a street tyre but with chunky tread blocks! :D

by the way, the compound is very soft, even when compared to my medium compound RE55s, also the sidewall stiffness doesnt seem as stiff as the RE55s, so im expecting some decent straight line traction! I only plan to run them on the back, as on the street the RE's warm up slowly and cool down quickly. A friend whos running these on the street says they hook up crazy. Ill post up a review when i get them on.

Yeah I've used these ones too, have you already got them? I think you will find these are actually a wet compound tyre and they don't take a hard time too well.

Ie Fatz and I wore them down to the canvas in 3 days of light competition.

    • I've looked up the parts number (41011AL501). It's around $700 OEM. Usually our Infiniti G35 here in Canada have interchangeable parts with my Stagea but the parts number are not the same. I have looked around and it seems the JDM 2005 V35 Skyline (which is the same as our G35) has the same caliper but I cannot confirm. And I can't find a repair kit. The inner brake pads drags on the rotor, seems to be rusty piston. Thanks for the info by the way
    • This coupled with 6-9 speed autos with ridiculously short gearing is why these modern shitbox cars always seem so fast off the line. If it wasn't for those things, Raptors would not seem fast. The problem we have is there is a driveability gap between a more gentle take off and a wheelspinning sideways launch. The difference between ankle flex required to achieve one and ankle flex required to achieve the other is about 0.5°.
    • Yeah I think I'm also with the opposite here. It's 'hard to keep up with traffic' because in the real world I'm accelerating with 15% throttle and they are pinning it. It feels like I'm being an overt dickhead at anything above 15% throttle, so the car sounds like I'm being an overt dickhead to keep up with/get ahead of traffic when I'm really just trying to drive with traffic. There would be no issue 'keeping up with traffic' if we used the same level of throttle input/aggression to drive around. People really do just drive around with their foot nearly pinned in econoboxes.
    • To be fair it's the other way around. 300kw is boring in a modern Golf or BMW. They are so competent / well-engineered / devoid of emotion that you have to go stupid fast to feel anything. Whereas the <300kw RB still makes all the right noises and it feels good to drive. Can pull off at the lights with the turbo whooshing and the blow-off pssshing and feel like the coolest kid on the block. Just don't look to the side where you'll see the bored housewifes in their shitbox Yaris/Corolla/Camry that kept up because you didn't go fast at all
    • 300kW is so boring in a Skyline, you'll get spanked by someone's mum's Golf with Alibaba pipes, and an email tune.
