i noticed all you guys are talking about a cooler with piping that enters and returns thru the same side so no holes have to be cut in the chassis.i wanted to do the same thing on my 33 so i went and got some pipe bent up at an xhaust shop and fitted it in 4hrs. only did it cos i was in a hurry to get it on, have now changed my mind and wana get it repiped properly cos the lowness of the bottom pipe is pissing me off hardcore.

i have a new PWR core here but thinking of going an r34gtt cooler and duct, summer has made my car so unresponsive, will a GTT cooler help much for responsiveness over summer on a stock car, or just go FMIC straight away(dont really wanna fork out for piping), also the FMIC takes air away from the radiator, hence the appeal of the GTT cooler.

heya all

i just won a typhoon intercooler from ebay for $80 so cant wait to get it and clean it out etc. then the hunt will be on for some pipework and joiners so ican fit it up.

then i spose it will be a trip back to the dyno to see if it makes any difference in the tune and boost levels etc.

Anyone?

no it didn't need cutting.

confirming it is this kit?

Cooling-Pro Intercooler Piping Kit - Skyline R34 GTT Price: $299

Includes Piping - Hoses & Fittings

Suit 600 x 300 x 76 Sized Intercoolers

would that mean a trust r34gtt kit wouldnt require the cutting of the battery tray where an r33 gtst kit does? interesting

thats the one, however we bought the whole intercooler kit, but i'm sure the piping is the same.

i used a r34 gtt kit and needed to cut under battery, trim the bar where the piping joined cooler, also my fan had to lose a little bin of it fin,

you have to cut under the battery for all the intercooler kits that dont use the stock piping, but you dont actually cut the tray (unless thats what ryan is refering to as the tray...?)

i wouldnt recommend cutting the fan though, becuase a) you shouldnt need to, kylies doesnt touch the fan, there is a bracket that attaches to the front engine removal bracket, and b) it can unbalance it, and cause it to shit itself. i replaced the clutched fan on my 33 with a pair of 12" thermo's.

    • just an update to this, poor man pays twice  Tried sanding down the pulleys but it didnt do the trick. Chucked another second hand alternator in the na car which I got for free off my mate and its fixed the squelling. Must have been unlucky with the bearings.    As for my turbo car, I managed to pick up a cwc rb alternator conversion bracket + LS alternator for 250 off marketplace, looked to be in really good nick. Installed it , started the car and its not charging the battery.... ( Im not good with auto elec stuff so im not sure if this was all I needed to do but I verified such by using a multimeter on the battery when the engine was running and I was only getting 12.2v )   I had to modify the earth strap for the new LS alternator , factory earth strap was a 10mm bolt which did not fit the bolt on the LS alternator which was double the size so I cut it off , went to repco bought some ring terminals that fit, crimped it onto the old earth strap and bolted it up to the alternator , started the car and same issue. Ran like shit and was reading 12.2 at the battery.  For a "plug and play" advertised kit thats not very plug and play but alas.  My question is , am I missing something ? Ive been reading that some people recommend upgrading the stock 80 amp alternator fuse to a 140 amp but I dont see how that would stop the alternator charging especially at idle not under load.  Regardless ive pulled it out and am going to get it bench tested by an auto elec tomorrow but it would be handy to know if ive missed something silly or have done something wrong.
    • My wild guess is that you have popped off an intake pipe....check all of the hoses between the turbo and the throttle for splits or loose clamps.
    • Awesome, thanks for sharing!
    • To provide more specific help, more information is needed. What Android screen? What is its wiring diagram? Does the car's wiring have power at any required BAT and ACC wires, and is the loom's earth good?
    • So, now all you need to do is connect the 2 or 3x 12v feeds into the unit to permanent 12v, ACC 12V and IGN 12V that you can find in the spot behind the stereo, and the earth, and then it will switch on with the car.
