Well.

It had to happen eventually.

Golgo has been sold :)

He will be moving to South Australia with a nice new owner late next week.

*sniff

Feeling a bit bummed by it all - so help cheer me up by posting your favourite memory, recolection - or even picture of the mighty purple assassin.

This one sums it up for me:

Thanks for reminding me...

At the moment there are no plans for a replacement.

I'll probably get something much bigger and slower first.

Ideally with a back yard.

That said... a man cannot live by bread alone, and I'm sure having the choice of a crappy Lada or a crappier Lada will wear thin soon enough.

I will certainly keep you all informed :)

Hi James, my favorite memory of golgo was when i was following you on the way back from the GOR cruise. The huge flames it spat out on gear change was something of a highlight on the way back :)

thanks for the memories :D

I hope you buy a replacement GTR soon and it better be a R34 :)

1st pic does make GOLGO seem like an assisin comming out of the dark lol

After seeing all the riced up cars at the Autosalon, Then seeing golgo squeezing through people in the showroom with its gruntin engine i went to my friend and said, "Now thats a real car"

No!!!

Ah well, I know how long you've been trying to sell him. Congratulations to the new owner, Golgo is one fine machine - even if he was always the "town bike" :)

I always liked this shot - James I owe you a 30x20in print for all those times you let me borrow him - if you can remember a favourite shot let me know:

This is some of the saddest news this year... James we all know you have been wanting to sell the beast for a while, but it's a shame it had to go interstate.. You can always remember the memories that GTR has given you… Hope the new owner enjoys it as much as you have and that the Lada begins to bring as much joy to you as what Golgo has given you…

Just a small picture from the GOR cruise. Will never forget you pulling Golgo out at the back of the pack and stopping all traffic for us to all pull out… for some reason Golgo would be the only car that would get away with that and never get tooted :)

In saying that congratulations James on the sale and hopefully something bigger at better will appear in the near future.

:) - a sad day indeed.

The countdown of my favourite memories include:

3. Golgo getting trapped in the garage for several days until the nice locksmith came to his resuce. Cmon - it was funny as.

2. Screeching to a holt on the GOR cruise as we were too busy looking at the scenary to realise everyone else had stopped - at least you know the brakes worked!!!

1. You and Jeremy (in Golgo) and Snowy and me (in the REX) racing around Winton for what anyone would have thought were sheepstations!!!

Anyhoo - he was a beast and will be sadly missed. Let's just hope the new owner enjoys him as much as and you and everyone else who was lucky enough to score a drive.

That said - TURBO LADA here we come!!!!! :P

    • Finally got shipping number for the intake and throttle body, shipped by UPS, so "should" be in my hands sometime next week, fingers fracking crossed
    • I'm so far behind in the jobs I have to do at both work and home (including car) that I have become immortal. There's simply no way that I can die now.
    • Each to their own I guess  Me, I put just as much time into cleaning inside of the cars as I do on the outside As for getting wet, it is really no different than steam cleaning the carpets at home, apart from the cars carpet dries alot faster than the house, again, I only do it in the hotter months and leave the car opened up for a few hours As I only do it yearly, it is just before I do the diff and gearbox service, so I clean the carpets, then it's up on stands, wheels off, service, clean the undercarriage,  grease the bushings and do a nut and bolt check on everything  Disclaimer: I typically had all the time in the world to kill when I was working 🤣, so spending a full day or 2 cleaning, serving and "looking at stuff" was,  easily achievable, and a fun mental therapy day As for time to kill, I retired last Wednesday, so apart from my physical training, my days are filled with lots of random jobs around the house and garden...."Idle hands are the Devils something something" I am also buying a new house sooner rather than later, I'm actually looking at a potential property tomorrow, I'm looking forward to getting a car hoist as I'm starting to get to old to crawl around under a car, I can only imagine all the undercarriage cleaning and looking at stuff when that gets set up
    • Yeah, I'm not interested in wetting the carpets, and I don't care about brown dirt/dust that lives deep in the pile or underneath. It's not like I crawl around on them in my birthday suit or eat dropped food off them (because there is never any open food in my car). The seats are alcantara (cheap Chinese imitation alcantara, to be sure!) with barely 1" of foam pad behind the surface. That's not getting wet either. Any car that I would be happy to get the interior wet, I would not care to put the effort into.
    • We have one that holds 2.8L of water. On floor carpet that hasn't been touched in 2 or 3 years, will take a minimum of 2 fills of the tank to do a bedroom, and that's going AROUND the bed.   In the cruiser, I used an ENTIRE 2.8L tank, just on the front passenger footwell. But it had some fungus growing, and had been full of mud from being used as a 4WD for many years. I can do that floor again, and it will still pull mud out. However, the water now only looks dirty, not pitch black and leaving full sludge in the bottom of the tank it sucks back into. Oh, and, this is about a $1500 unit.
