Hello

We would like to thank everyone who emailed and replied in the forums for our formal ride.

As some people may have forgot, I was looking for 4-5 skylines to drop us off at our end of year formal, what better way to arrive ey.

Bass Junky, Adzmax, NismoR34 and Paulr33 took the offer and drove us to the formal.

I can safely say that we are still smiling from last night's event. :(:)

As this was our first experience of a turbo and a skyline you have left one hell of an impression, what better way to experience it for the first time than in Peter's highly modified beast.

We are still craving for more and my friends are trying to come up with an excuse where we may have another ride.

The skylines were the talk of the formal as every car was an old limo and boy did people envy us haha.

Also thanks goes out to GTIARR, Leewah and Golgo for offering their rides but due to external factors were unable to attend.

NismoR34 if you wouldnt mind sending or uploading the pictures you took as I plan on professionally printing and framing the beach scene.

Thanks again to the people who attended and the SAU forum which made this possible.

You guys rock!

More pictures can be found here.

If you want the original size of the picture please email or PM me.

Some pictures may be blurry due to the fast acceleration from Bass Junky's R34 :P

I also have two video's but will only post once i get a confirmation from Bass Junky

Thats enough talk out of me, now to show some pics :D

Thanks all

- Patrick

good stuff mate, great idea, somethin different from the limo's, and what a way to be different. would have been awesome

well done to all the boys that offered their cars. I would love to have a car that people would want in somethin like that.

haha, the video's arent anything spectacular and are becoming overated because you cant see it :P

The video's are nothing illegal, just some take-off's from lights and my camera can’t record sound so nothing special.

I'll wait till Boost Junky replies in this thread if i should bother uploading.

Another thanks to Paul for having enough space for three people in the car.

Formal wasn’t that great, apart from our physics teacher (Romanian with a large beard) popping some moves on the dance floor.

After the formal had finished, my friends agreed that they would gladly pay $60 each to keep on driving rather than the formal dinner.

So if you four, Bass Junky, Adzmax, NismoR34 and Paulr33, are ever free we will be waiting eagerly to see those 4 round lights :)

Thanks

- Patrick

As requested I have uploaded the video's but dont expect them to be good.

Video 1:

Bass Junky and AdzMax were next to each other

Video 2

Bass Junky and AdzMax leaving lights

Nothing great but at least something.

Enjoy

Thanks

- Patrick

EDIT - R31Nismoid - PM if issues

Yeh Bass I did see you wave and waved back. Knew it was you because of the Nismo(right?) kit.

About "volvo", when we had the stagea meet in Melbourne, I told the other guys that I had debaged my car (removed Stagea/RSFOUR badges) and they then asked "why the hell would you do that, now even more people will call you a volvo?". Well, as long as only the people that I want to know about my car do, and the general public dont, I can live with that. (confusing sentance)

Though, I still find many many/most import drivers are oblivious to me.

Ill keep myself updated on the SAU VIC events and make sure ill attend the next BBQ/Meet. There is some Christmas BBQ isnt there? Ill arrange to become a member this week and send off all my stuff.

    • The rain is the best time to push to the edge of the grip limit. Water lubrication reduces the consumption of rubber without reducing the fun. I take pleasure in driving around the outside of numpties in Audis, WRXs, BRZs, etc, because they get all worried in the wet. They warm up faster than the engine oil does.
    • When they're dead cold, and in the wet, they're not very fun. RE003 are alright, they do harden very quickly and turn into literally $50 Pace tyres.
    • Yeah, I thought that Reedy's video was quite good because he compared old and new (as in, well used and quite new) AD09s, with what is generally considered to be the fast Yokohama in this category (ie, sporty road/track tyres) and a tyre that people might be able to use to extend the comparo out into the space of more expensive European tyres, being the Cup 2. No-one would ever agree that the Cup 2 is a poor tyre - many would suggest that it is close to the very top of the category. And, for them all to come out so close to each other, and for the cheaper tyre in the test to do so well against the others, in some cases being even faster, shows that (good, non-linglong) tyres are reaching a plateau in terms of how good they can get, and they're all sitting on that same plateau. Anyway, on the AD08R, AD09, RS4 that I've had on the car in recent years, I've never had a problem in the cold and wet. SA gets down to 0-10°C in winter. Not so often, but it was only 4°C when I got in the car this morning. Once the tyres are warm (ie, after about 2km), you can start to lay into them. I've never aquaplaned or suffered serious off-corner understeer or anything like that in the wet, that I would not have expected to happen with a more normal tyre. I had some RE003s, and they were shit in the dry, shit in the wet, shit everywhere. I would rate the RS4 and AD0x as being more trustworthy in the wet, once the rubber is warm. Bridgestone should be ashamed of the RE003.
    • This is why I gave the disclaimer about how I drive in the wet which I feel is pretty important. I have heard people think RS4's are horrible in the rain, but I have this feeling they must be driving (or attempting to drive) anywhere close to the grip limit. I legitimately drive at the speed limit/below speed the limit 100% of the time in the rain. More than happy to just commute along at 50kmh behind a train of cars in 5th gear etc. I do agree with you with regards to the temp and the 'quality' of the tyre Dose. Most UHP tyres aren't even up to temperature on the road anyway, even when going mad initial D canyon carving. It would be interesting to see a not-up-to-temp UHP tyre compared against a mere... normal...HP tyre at these temperatures. I don't think you're (or me in this case) is actually picking up grip with an RS4/AD09 on the road relative to something like a RE003 because the RS4/AD09 is not up to temp and the RE003 is closer to it's optimal operating window.
    • Either the bearing has been installed backwards OR the gearbox input shaft bearing is loosey goosey.   When in doubt, just put in a Samsonas in.
