I'll be getting my tune done next saturday (the 3rd) in Bundaberg QLD by a guy I've known for years - he worked with chiptorque for six years and has tuned more skylines than I've seen so he should be fine.

That would be stewart yeah??

i didnt have to modify my down pipe at all. My car came with a standard dump pipe, and ive since used an HKS dump for the 2530, and the HKS dump for the 2835 kit and they both bolted up without any mod. but then i must have had a different downpipe originally.

i hope thats not sarcasm evilution.

ahah nah sorry i like that face it looks cool ;)

sorry, im general interested as im looking to get the same kit for my r33.

What would you advise to upgrade at the same time as turbo?

fuel pump, injectors, ecu, afm? you also mention something about the stock lsd, did u find with the new turbo the stock lsd, couldnt put the power down?

agains sorry for the missunderstand

lol, i wasnt sure as my last post was a little iffy trying to explain how mine fitted up..

without a doubt, you will 100% need an ECU like an fc, injectors, Z32 AFM and an upgrade fuel pump, and dont forget the clutch.

i found the stock lsd couldnt put the power down with a stock turbo let alone the 2835. main problem was powering out of corners, it wasnt so bad in a straight line, but still suffered a bit.

hmm, I bought my car already modifed and it has one of these turbos, only thing is I've got some custom made dump pipe - its not real flash :P ... can you buy just the dump pipe? Also what intake do you guys use to step down the to the Air Flow meter? Would one of the Apexi power intake kits with a 4" to 3" silcon hose work?

cheers

hey guys,

just wondering how much you both pay for the kits landed to your door if you dont mind me asking?

also, is the actuator rated at 1.2bar? If so is it possable to run lower boost like 0.6bar with a ebc and on that note how would you connect an ebc to the turbo, as its got 2 outlets; one on the turbo and one on the actuator do you need to get a T picese?

Cheers Michael :P

The wastegate actuator arm on my kit is adjustable - I didn't play with it though.

As for putting a T-piece in - we just blocked off the boost outlet for the wastegate and used the factory after intercooler boost outlet as we were worried about the Apexi boost control solonoid getting hot air directly from the turbo (probably would be fine).

I'm running 1 bar boost so not sure how you would go trying to run less but probably would be no worries.

Also I wouldn't get the dump pipe from Japan - it wasn't as well made as my original one - you're probably better off getting one made locally.

Cheers

SLY so you got that power with no modified internals?

i made 266rwkw on stock internals with 2 pounds less boost. i then dropped in a built motor with forgies for piece of mind, and added the poncams at the same time and made the 281rwkw. The stock motor wouldve easily made the power with just the addition of cams.

like all the HKS stuff ive had, the dump supplied with the kit was of awesome quality, why didnt you like it? it might look a bit crude where the wastegate pipe merges (looking inside the base of the dump), as it looks like flow will be impeded by the main pipe, but it seems to work fine.

sly when does your boost come on and does it pull as it winds up

i dont know when it starts building but its pretty early, full boost by ~4grand.

does it pull as it winds up? do you mean as it builds boost is it still pulling? yes it does, wouldnt it have to?! Acceleration is still plenty for overtaking etc even when below 4 grand.

The dump is well made but:

I didn't like the dump for that reason - the lip where it joins the main dump must be a restriction and also my locally fabricated dump had a pipe extension from the dump turbo flange right to the turbine outlet - ensuring the wastegate/turbine gasses are totally seperated.

Another interesting point is the wastegate can only open about 10mm before it hits the dump - I don't know how it'd go it trying to control boost on a larger capacity engine. ie rb30.

I'm sure it works fine but I think it could have been done better - I wouldn't be sourcing it from the other side of the planet.

Cheers

:O i see 1.2 bar by about 3500rpm ..... what size cams have you got? I would have thought mine was laggier cause i have big cams - 270 with 10.25 lift ...

look at my dyno graph supplied and see how it compares with yours. you will have to convert speed to rpms. the ~ is the point in my post. "about" 4 grand. i dont watch the tacho and boost guage simultaneously (my boost guage is in the glovebox and used only to check boost occasoinally by a passenger), nor do i have a dyno sheet with rpms. when im flat to the floor im more wathcing the road than anything else but i know that when the needle hits about 4grand its pulling hard.

what does yours make peak with the 270 10.25 cams? mine are only 260 8.8's.

    • ok so if i wanted to go 18's i would go for 8's  in front 30+ or 32+ off set at front and the back 9 would be ok? what offset should i aim for.. then can i do some  hunting for wheel rim choices..    If i get this - will this fit all around: Size: 18 x 8.5 +37 - n what tyres size tyre should i get for front n back?
    • Absolute f*cking nightmare. I had to take breaks constantly, and I was always pissed off when I got home. The line split in Italy on day 2 (we drove from the Netherlands), lol. Driving any narrow European town was... well, sh*t.   Appreciate it man. Here, I'll just drop a favourite from the load I took on Saturday.   I'll update here when things happen with the car, the thing is, with stock power and almost everything chassis-wise taken care of, there really are no problems. 268,000kms now and counting.
    • Ah! I actually managed to snag a lightly used set.... that aren't so suitable for me right now. They don't work on a GTT without some cutting or creative heat moulding. I thought about reselling them myself cause I didn't want to murder them, but it looks like I'm probably going to attempt to murder them/melt them because I may as well. @GTSBoy @PranK can somebody close this thread?
    • Hey mate,  I have a set, one is slightly damaged but wont be noticable once installed.  Shoot me a message if your still after them
    • I couldn't wait But, the black constant tension hose clamps were too thick and there wasn't enough clearance at the T/B and I couldn't get it to seat properly, so I had use a silver one there I also added some 3" silicone over the alloy bit that goes through to hole on the radiator support as it looked like it was sitting on the edge of the hole in the radiator support, I never noticed a rattle or anything, but there was a witness mark It is basicly done, and I can live with the silver hose clamp at the T/B, I will get a black clamp for the head vent though where it is attached to the bulkhead fitting  It never stops...LOL, only issue now with the shock tower brace is it slightly touches the under bonnet liner now, if I leave it it will either wear some paint off the brace where it touches, or damage the liner, so I removed the liner to see what I have to work with, with the liner removed I have about 20mm of clearance, but sadly the middle part of the underside of the bonnet is only dusted with paint and looks crap, so I cannot have that, but.... as I have a roll of Carbuilders premium under bonnet insulation in the garage laying around that is only 5.5mm thick (we were going to use it on the boys Patrol, but he crashed the front of it a few months and it was written off, hence why he now drives my old Honda Accord Euro), I'll use the OEM liner as a template and get the Carbuilders stuff fitted up to cover that dusted paint up
