  1. Digging up an old thread here, but I pulled my fuel tank on the weekend to give it a full clean out (gunk + BP98) and to replace the fuel pump with a Walbro 460LPH unit. I have a PowerFC with a BP98 tune. Given the car will run lean with the E85, but also given I'm keen not to introduce BP98 back into the tank, I'm wondering whether I can fill the tank with E85 and drive carefully (i.e. no boost, minimal revs) to the workshop to get tuned? I know it would clearly be safer to get it towed but that might be a hassle with work hours etc. Obviously I don't want to cause any damage so if there's any risk of that even off-boost then I'll just have to get it towed but just looking for some thoughts or experience. Cheers
  2. Second that! This looks like an awesome project, keen to see how you go!
  3. This whole scenario, all these new usernames ..... just seems way too fishy for my liking.
  4. How about: http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/topic/370700-xxr-527/
  5. Full props to you, this is a great restoration!
  6. How's this build going? Love the colour!
  7. Just bought a second one of these - first one for my R32 GTR was such a nice piece of kit I thought I'd buy one for my brother's R34. Thanks Joe for packaging it up and sending at late notice - champion! I'll see if I can get a pic up of it too once the car's back from the workshop, looks good
  8. Interesting....wonder whether there is any truth to this: http://www.ls1.com.au/forum/showthread.php?164490-Pump-E85-to-finally-hit-Perth
  9. If you don't find any to borrow there's a set for sale here, $300 with new tyres http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/topic/424231-fs-stock-nissan-15-wheels-new-tyres/
  10. Thanks for your replies Scotty, I think I will replace a number of the vacuum hoses around the area and see if that has any effect because as you say they do seem to be quite stiff and brittle.
  11. I had to change the old clutch master because it was leaking fluid. Come to think of it, I don't think I changed the clutch booster, only the master cylinder; I think both the clutch booster and the brake booster are the originals. I think that the vacuum leak (if there is one) must have developed since doing this work; can you damage brake boosters if you're not gentle with them?
  12. Hi guys A couple of months ago I replaced the clutch master cylinder and booster in my R32 GTR and in doing so had to pull the brake booster back so that I could get the clutch master/booster out. Once everything was back together, the car just didn't feel the same. It now seems to run rich, the brakes feel quite doughy, and it just doesnt seem to have as much as power as it did when it was tuned about a week before I pulled everything apart. I never really joined the dots though until now... could a vacuum leak in the brake booster cause the above symptoms? I have bled the brakes in the proper fashion, though to no avail. The brakes used to feel fantastic, very bitey (Brembos) and the car isn't driven much so it's not the pads/rotors. As mentioned, it was tuned about a week before I pulled the clutch / brake boosters out and it was running beautifully - I don't remember it running overly rich following the tune. Today I hit the accelerator while my mate was following in his car and he said he could smell the fuel and could see the black smoke come out the exhaust. I also tried squirting WD40 all over the various vacuum lines around the brake booster to see whether I could notice the revs jumping up but no such luck. Could it indeed be the brake booster or vacuum line, or should I just leave it to the professionals when it hits the dyno next week for a look-see? I have attached a photo of the brake booster and the region of the various vacuum lines that I squirted the WD40 over. Cheers
  13. Nice work mate, great times!
  14. Nice run! Does the car start to feel at all unsettled toward the end of the 1000m? Could just be the video but the full monty vid above looks like there's a bit of movement in the steering wheel - scary!
  15. silver r33 gtr on cambridge st wembley tonight, sounded nice
  16. Car's looking great mate, must be happy knowing that it's not far off being done! *fingers crossed*
  17. Will just answer on PSIKO's behalf as I was there yesterday helping. No turbo timer in the car presently as it was literally just a straight engine install. We're wondering whether there is the possibility that a faulty relay would cause the ignition not to shut off when the key is turned off? But the old RB25 would turn on and off with no problem - really weird.
  18. Hi guys, can you please change mine to JH32....many thanks
  19. Have you pulled the loom out yet? i.e. the loom that runs through the firewall? You can trace the colours of the wires back to the plugs. We started actually looking at those plugs about a month ago during an engine conversion but ended up getting the loom sent elsewhere so I never finished. But from memory there were air con wires in there and a bunch of other stuff that feeds around the front of the car to the fuse box. I don't know for sure what the wires are but I probably wouldnt get rid of it - could perhaps move it instead? Sorry I couldn't be more helpful but we couldnt find any info on those plugs either.
  20. Bit odd that you got a demerit point, and unreasonable too I think. The extra $13 I can understand but I would query the demerit point further. Perhaps go down there in person or call again and hope you don't get the same old biddy.
  21. Cheers Mitch, that might end up being an option! As VFRregal mentioned, we'll give it a crack this weekend and if it's way too far beyond us I'll get in touch with you Hopefully we can pull a rabbit out of a hat!
  22. Don Dada, the GT-Four was a manual originally, and the 26 is from an R32. To start with the ECU will be stock but may be swapped later for a PowerFC/Link or perhaps a Nistune type arrangement. I can't imagine the 4WD will be a big drama because as far as I understand it also runs off its own ECU. Mitch_Rona, many thanks for your help mate, much appreciated. We're going to take a look on the weekend and see how far we get. I don't suppose you have anyone that you would recommend to do the wiring merge? I note your signature makes mention of electrical work! hehe.
  23. Nice work mate, looking good! When you relocated the battery to the boot, did you use a kit or just a variety of off-the-shelf parts? Looks very fancy!
  24. You know someone that works there, yet you suggesting avoiding? Obviously not a mate working there then! On topic, have been south of the river for the last few days and saw a few Skylines on my travels - a 32 gtst outside Repco or Autopro or something down near that Gateway shopping centre but on the opposite side of the Freeway. Also saw a purple R32 GTR yesterday on South St, and a R33 gtst in Bullcreek shopping centre this arvo.
