If your car is a GTR, $400 sounds reasonable, I believe that's why I paid about 6-7months ago, everyone I called gave the same quote (within $50).

Don't pull the fuse on the R33/R34, the clutch packs there is a pre-load on the transfer case, see the above post... Its fine to do it in an R32 because they don't use this pre-load...

I just searched "dirtgarage" and "ECU" found this New Plug-in Ecu Coming, Better than Power FC and aussie made, also turned up Vi-pec Ecu, One for the wagon!! and Guilt-toy Installs Vipec V44 Plug In.. I've read good things about it, I was considering going E85 + this ECU when I go aftermarket turbo's which is looking like a long long time away. lol

I agree, bad weather equals less speed in some cases, or at least a lot more distance between you and the car in front (some people still don't get that ) I mean, you don't want to be doing 100km/h while is fog and heavy rain, trying to take any kind of corner irrelevant of the speed limit...

I don't think so, have you seen any XR6 forums recently? While many members seem to say they can make "400kw from 5K of mods" there are those who are actually doing that without much of a problem. I don't believe the 5K figure, but they do seem to do quite well with power mods... And then there will be people with a turbo-charged V8's or similar. $65 for the dyno seems pretty expensive, might come down to watch....

I've run RCA's next to speaker power wires, they are twisted pair RCA's though and I don't have an issue. Not sure if it was the twisted pair construction which helped or not, I'd like to hear an opinion on that. The guys on Mobile Electronics seem to recommend twisted pair RCA's to prevent interference... I also had what looked like car power wires running up the LHS and RHS of the car (battery in boot) I tried to keep away from them but the RCA's are pretty close, no issues though...

Joeyjoejoe's E85 Tuning Adventutres
some_cs_student replied to joeyjoejoejuniorshabadoo's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
Thanks for that useful information, I've had a few debates that if I ran some E85 my skyline fuel hoses won't magically disintegrate, but the Silicon based hoses in Skylines, are they factory standard? -
Interested, would have been great if they were using an AASA permit, then I wouldn't have to buy a CAMS license Probably time I should buy one.... So 4 * 8min runs even for the driver training group? And after say 3pm to 4pm its a little more open or....? Never been to a club track day. I've done Sandown once with the driver dynamics group, and Winton during a fun day, but I'm only running some average street tyres and think the driver training might be a good idea...

R33 (nismo) Speedo Calibration
some_cs_student replied to some_cs_student's topic in R Series (R30, R31, R32, R33, R34)
Finally posted my tutorial here hopefully someone finds it useful Thanks for the help -
The image's got de-attached during the attempts to upload the tutorial, the super closeup image is from Tom_R33GTST on the skylinesowners forum, I couldn't get a photo that good. Also, quoting from the GTR UK forums topic on Blk33's tutorial: Best of luck if you try this! Please try to post results only below, it may help other people with there adjustments, probably post your car type, speedo type and your initial and final adjustments...(and if you've modified any diff ratios et cetera). For example, in my case: R33 GTR Initially 2,3,5,6,7 joined, off by 7km/h at 100km/h, approx 5-6km/h at 60km/h Finished with 1,3,4,5,6,7,9 (roughly I know I had 2 or 3 unsoldered at the end) off by 2km/h at 80km/h Compared with a GPS Standard diff ratios Oh, I don't think this will work for R32's, not sure about R34's, sorry, the 10page skyline owners thread linked in my initial post, it may have more information about this but I didn't see it here, and I cannot edit the initial tutorial post...

A single fine won't get your license suspended unless you were very far over the limit (ie. a lot more than 10km/h) -
Gearbox - Redline Oil Vs Royal Purple
some_cs_student replied to reNEGaDe88's topic in General Maintenance
D'oh got it backwards, possibly too *thick* for my gearbox. I'll leave it in there a little longer and see how it goes, otherwise I may drop it out and try Redline Lightweight shockproof. I might just make sure I'm very gentle on warm up on the gearbox.... -
Gearbox - Redline Oil Vs Royal Purple
some_cs_student replied to reNEGaDe88's topic in General Maintenance
Hmmm, I was thinking....corrosive oil, why would they sell it? Anyway, when I was at oilworld in Cheltenham the a couple days ago, he had the redline book out, for all Nissan Skylines, before R34, Redline lightweight shockproof was the recommended oil. For R34, Redline Super Lightweight shockproof. And that was from a Redline book Feel free to check there website for further information, this is not the first time confusion on Redline gearbox oil's has occurred... -
Lol, I was thinking it maybe moderator approved, but I didn't see it written *anywhere* is that section, so I ended up posting about 3 times. I think they will all be the same, sorry about that. Maybe there should be a sticky on writing a tutorial and the fact that its moderator approved? I found afterward's what looked like a template but I'd already written my tutorial and I won't be able to edit it anymore

I'm referring to: http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/Tu...IY-FAQ-f57.html When I click "New Topic", with the topic title in my original post, "Skyline Speedo Correction (R33 example, Nismo cluster) - minor adjustments without extra parts...", and enter a lot of text (see the other post I referred to) and click submit....nothing happens! I mean the page goes away, just as if it had created the thread, I check, the thread doesn't exist! Its very confusing, maybe its a bug with the title or something, no errors, just no thread created. I'm aware of the cannot edit due to certain dodgy people abusing it, but I'm actually referring to creating a new *thread* in the tutorial section. I might try again tonight...

Gearbox - Redline Oil Vs Royal Purple
some_cs_student replied to reNEGaDe88's topic in General Maintenance
I'd recommend something other than Redline MT-90, when discussing with someone else who regularly uses Redline he recommended Redline MTL, MT-90 is quite thin. Note: I'm talking about R32/R33 boxes, not R34.... It doesn't work well for my series 3 R33 GTR box (its 10 years old so maybe its worn synchros), so I'm trying Castrol Syntrans 75w85 next -
Why is the Mobil 1 oil change costing 110 AUD? Have you read the oil thread yet? http://performancelub.com sells it cheaper and Skylines Australia even has a discount code. The entire 5 vs 10K argument is interesting, some will argue you must change really often, others will advise that chemicals in the oil take time to activate, especially in some of the more expensive oils.... The only way to be sure if a used oil analysis, which I've never done before, the guys on bob is the oil guy do that kind of thing a lot, its extremely in depth about the testing they do on oils.

Just FYI, I think I read that hydroxycut is getting recalled in the USA.

Hi, From this sentence: "This tutorial is partially based off " On http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/R3...18#entry4561718 Was my tutorial, I also re-attached the 4 images earlier in the thread to my tutorial page. Title was: Skyline Speedo Correction (R33 example, Nismo cluster) - minor adjustments without extra parts... Unfortunately everytime I post nothing appears to happen it submits to the server fine, I checked my info page and the tutorials section I can't post. And since I can't edit I've lost the formatting I did Is it going through some kind of moderation where it needs approval? Or is there something wrong? I've attempted posting the tutorial 3 times on 2 different days, always on Firefox, don't have an issue with replying to threads or creating in other sections like this Thanks, Gareth

R34's are nice, if you have the $$$. R32's, good cars, the R33 was made to improve the handling, and 50kg difference was involved, personally I own an R33. However, there is a lot of complaints about R33's size and weight, R34's weight more, and R33's are the longest, I think its just some kind of jealously. lol
