Agreed value of $25k (1989 R32 GTR - rebuilt motor) - Shannon's. Going to speak to them soon and look at agreed value of $30k....... As you've mentioned $25k wouldn't come close to replacing my car now......Thanks for the gentle reminder

tidied up the battery area, new terminals and wiring, its amazing how the little things make such a difference. Looking for two interior bits so that I'll be happy with the interior as pictured, let me know if you have these or know where I can easily get some. -

So the car ran out of rego......have decided to keep it off the road for a little while to tend to a few small issues... I think I now have a wrinkle paint problem -

Hey Josh, so you do occasionally get on here , I think I recall seeing Glyn's car the first time my car was at yours earlier in the year (plates ring a bell) -

ye Glyn, I think it was a case of just too much speed, I chatted to him afterwards but didn't go into the details, doesn't look too fast but I believe he was somewhere around 170-180kph around there :-/ -

ye there's vids on youtube, search 'R32 GTR crash mt alma 2016' Never like to see that happen obviously but this guy especially was a top bloke, was really cut up afterwards obviously. Another GTR (32) and a few evo's had some pretty big offs too :-/ -

A few pics from the weekends hill climb (I believe it is the fastest speed hill climb in Australia) I think I was the slowest in my class but I had a ball and managed to drive there and home so can't complain about that. (Unfortunately some weren't so lucky ) Time for some more suspension work ready for the next one in August. -

Finally managed to get some better pictures of the exhaust whilst she was on the hoist being wheel aligned for last weekends hillclimb. -

So motors all back in now and running well. While it was out I had the plenum painted wrinkle black to match everything else once I get round to it. Have just had some new Hankook Rs-3 tyres fitted and I'm off to get a wheel alignment this arvo and that should be it ready for this weekends hillclimb. -

ye you're not wrong, did the first heater hose in car but this one was impossible and just knew there'd me more to go so figured do it all now and sleep at night -

So I bit the bullet and had the motor removed to do all the heater hoses along with anything else that popped up. Plenty more nasty little surprises but at least its getting sorted and will help me sleep better now. Here's some progress pics.....all new genuine Nissan hoses. -

Thanks for that input. Status, what settings would you suggest for more midrange/earlier boost? I did search here before having it tuned and the settings I went with were the general consensus for good midrange?! -
do you high or low bar birds?

I thought the general rule of thumb was 15:1 on cruise and 12:1 @ WOT?! I realise different applications this would vary but the redline appears to be almost 10:1..........quite rich!?

That's more like what I expected to see Bob, I know my Blitz SBC unit isn't by any stretch top of the line but from what I'd read before purchasing it was a pretty good electronic unit but the boost curve looks more like one controlled by a bleed valve :-/ -

mr_rbman replied to mr_rbman's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
actuators have the typical 4-5mm preload on them, boost control has been played with (gain etc.) I spent quite a bit of time reading the threads on here with bellmouth vs. split dump pipes etc. and came to the conclusion that provided the split was long enough the benefits of either were negligible. I've attached a pic above of my system so that you can see its quite different to the HKS / X-Force style dumps you are referring to.....not saying that my system style still couldn't be the issue...though I thought it would have had an affect on power output too?! didn't spend a heap of time with cam gears, tuned with them set to '0' and got to around 283kws @ 18psi from memory then from the research I did on here set the cam gears at 2 degrees advanced on the inlet and 4 degrees retard on the exhaust and netted 309kws @ 20psi (went to 20psi and tailed to 18psi without actually touching the boost controller settings.) so I was relatively happy with that change and didn't play around any more... interested in this too... as I mentioned the car itself feels great.....though I'm not sure if that's because I've been driving it around with <100kws less or if its just the dyno sheet playing funny buggers with my head Definitely hear what you're saying, I had an RB30/25 with and XR6T (35/40 - 1.06 e/h) and that was my definition of lag yet that hit full boost around the same as this motor. Just getting my head around it all I think...and the different types of power and curves.... -
