  1. if anything you will have learned how to diagnose problems with your car. electrics is easy once yo get a basic idea of it.
  2. if you use it correctly - yes. it needs a current function google ammeter and use that idea to work out what is wrong with yours. may as well learn how to use a meter. I would have a meter handy and get a baseline draw on the car then start pulling fuses. it will drop off as you pull fuses. when it gets close to zero that will be the idle current. give me a baseline draw to work with and I'll help you.
  3. how about a model number for starters. I would be looking at a 480XV myself. top shelf item with oz stds 3 pt kill built into it.
  4. is the car in brisbane? if so I'll sort it for you. G5 isn't that bad to work on. if the car wont start there is a good chance the alarm is on and it has cut the fuel. I did a 34 NUR today. nice car.
  5. you mean ammeter. and with idle current (IE clock, radio, alarm) it should be below 70mA (or 0.007A.) if its up around 100-120 then you have a draw somewhere. given that it would drop a battery within 3-4 days. when was the last time you put a new battery in it? do you know what your idle current is on that car?
  6. who from? there's probably a good chance I'll see the car at some stage if you bought it from a perth broker. in regard to service manuals - JDM - yes (on paper) USDM - close enough for reference but not exact. the rest of the info you are asking about - read this section of the forum . I have a fair bit of info on them and I can point you in a general direction for most of it. if its audio/video/nav related you will see a LOT from me. got pics (or a link.)?
  7. has he done a curretn draw on the car?
  8. www.mongoose.com.au hit contact and ask for a local dealer.
  9. true IF you are not arming the alarm. most customers I have want the alarm to arm, lock doors and time down. very few alarms will do it properly.
  10. definitely dealer fitted. have seen both in sedans and coupes. more common in the coupe.
  11. not so. viper alarms will arm with the key on. (antihijack function) mongoose wont arm at all, autowatch will if the timer option is enabled and the timer relay installed. VERY true. last car I had here I proved a point on. I had a bit of 10 awg wire so I shorted the wiring on the timer and clutch started the car, drove off with the customer watching in disgust.. the car had a basic remote start alarm on it.
  12. no go. if it was a 60 or 80 series it would not be a problem. sit with the car for 30 sec or so. it will save the car from becoming spare parts.
  13. reword your question a bit. if its a 6 CD stacker only then yes a pioneer radio will control it. if its something other than that - bin it.
  14. its a bit more than that. you will need to find a diagram for the car. from there get all the bits ( I can supply these.) and go from there. give me a call and I'll go over a few things with you ( 0407-102-839.)
  15. ok I'll do it here. system runs RGBs so you need a magic box to make it work correctly and a camera. the OE one that you see on the rear of most cars does this. as for doing it from dry - how electrically minded are you?
  16. I have one of those here. I trashed the lot and reused the screen. the entire system is two pieces. NONE of it is useable and unless you have the electronics knowledge to reverse engineer the screen , bin it as well. I dare say that you have a pocket under the system and a big pocket above the glove box where the OE unit is meant to be.
  17. do a bit of a dig on my name - I think I covered most of this. rev camera is easy. if you have $800 I'll get you the OE pimple. the other way is to add one to it. the 6 pin plug is the audio/video input . I have the correct leads (in stock) to make this painless. click my sig for more info
  18. aftermarket. there lies your problem. the actuator that has been added to that door has either locked up or the rod has come loose and moved. if you are mechanical - remove the door panel and undo the rod that is tied to your door. reposition it so that when the door is unlocked the actuator is almost fully in (if its done the way I do them.) that will fix your other problem as well
  19. there is a sequence to gethte unit into service mode and from there you ca do things with it. thing is if the mech is jammed you have buckleys of getting the disc out. been there already - twice.
  20. ouch! I have to go past there over the next day or so. flick me a pm when you get a sec.
  21. which I can supply and have been for the past 6 months.
  22. OE remote entry or aftermarket alarm?
  23. thats easily fixed I know that there may be one over here in a bit. if so I'm probably going to end up with it for a bit.
