r33 timing issue
Dose Pipe Sutututu replied to Cozzamb's topic in R Series (R30, R31, R32, R33, R34)
Is your front timing cover back on? If not I hope you've spaced out the CAS. Is your CAS still in good condition? -
Modernisation of Shit Box Part 839231. Since the rear trim was pulled off to run the reverse cam, new RCAs, tidying of wires and shit, I decided to sound deaden the rear quarters. As you know, these shit boxes have 0 sound deadening on the rear panels, not even a simple oddly shaped pad to absorb any kind of vibration! Bought some cheap eBay crap to do both the outer and inner skins. This should greatly reduce road noise, unpleasant noises made by the car externally, etc. Not the best job, however you can't see it and the trim will be reinstalled after re-tinting is done. Will be removing the rubbish 2000s super dark tint that has gone purple and going for a more legal tint, also means I can see when I'm at SMSP at night lol.

R33 GTR Rebuild + Upgrading
Dose Pipe Sutututu replied to oSkylines's topic in R Series (R30, R31, R32, R33, R34)
Cheaper and better (odd those two words are in the same sentence) to bin the HICAS system. -

Yep, exactly what happened to a mate of mine. R33 GT-R split and he woke up in ICU. -
NZ R33 Long Term Build

They do you a favour by tracing the kill points for you to the alarm 😂 -
NZ R33 Long Term Build
Dose Pipe Sutututu replied to R3N3's topic in Members Cars, Project Overhauls & Restorations
Luckily most modern cars come with semi-decent deterrent devices so no need for these monkeys to hack up factory looms. So many alarm installs use those stupid blue splice clips or half penetrated solder. Like if you're going to pull out a fking soldering iron, at least let it penetrate the join or splice. I've redone all the alarms in all the previous shit boxes I've owned, I don't know how these buffoons even called themselves "professionals". -

R33 GTR Rebuild + Upgrading
Dose Pipe Sutututu replied to oSkylines's topic in R Series (R30, R31, R32, R33, R34)
If HICAS was so "great" why do all circuit cars, proper track cars, (going back in time) touge cars, 90s drag cars, 90s drift cars all delete them? Because it's shit. -

HICAS in the R32 and R33 both belong in the bin. First real handling mod I did was delete HICAS, followed by a proper mechanical LSD (albeit I have a GTS-t shit box). R34 HICAS is barely ok, if I had a R34 I would delete it as well. -
Adjustable rev limiter 😎 7000, 7500, 8000, 8600rpm The idea was for skid pans to set a "max" wheel speed. I found in 2nd at 8000rpm+ there was too much wheel speed to hold a slide with my crappy driving LOL.

@R3N3 I run 2x Clarion marine amps (1x 4 channel, 1x mono block for the sub) they have a super small footprint and produce enough power for my modest audio. They now have a 5 channel marine amp, which wasn't available back then when I bought these. Headunit has been upgraded (some features went backwards such as time alignment) with a Pioneer A5450BT. Has wireless Android auto. Reverse camera, went with an Amazon special 1080P one, as the Pioneer one is a CMOS sensor and would in theory output a lower quality image. And update on the SSR and surge tank wiring refresh

I dare say it's rust water or motor oil. Imagine going to Pick & Payless and going through a wrecking yard full of Commodores and Falcons. They're filthy at best and usually have a nice set of forklift marks under the chassis lol. Our cars are no different back in Japan.
-
Oh yeah, cleaned the rear seats with the Bissell. 27 years of Japanese, Aussie shit, piss, grim, whatever has graced the rear seat.
-
Since you're not running a fixed bucket seat, you could fit 2x nice under seat subs. My friend has a pair of Alpine PWE-S8 in his SWB Pajero and they actually sound decent. Of course you don't get the nice lows of a proper driver however they are quite musical for what they are.
-
@GTSBoy very nicely done, you also have too much time LOL. My old white R33 had Focal 165K2 and I sandwiched 2x 16mm MDF sheets together and made something similar followed by painting them both in sound deadening. Door proceeded to get 2x layers of eDead (Dynamat knock off at the time). This car, the fronts have had the stock plastic mounts attacked with a Dremel lol. I think I might get in touch with @Fhrx (hope you're still around Marty) to do my front stage and make a nice slim enclosure for a sub in the boot that also covers up all the SSR shit and surge tank lines.
-
@GTSBoy those speakers have the gain on quite low, merely there for fill and the odd time I drive around with no sub in the boot it adds a bit of bass back into the system when I turn off the high pass. Also, if anyone has a keen eye, those are Jaycar Response Kevlar speakers from the early 2000s. Agreed rear speakers are useless, however I had them lying around in a box for nearly two decades so slapped them in when I removed the ghastly horrible 6x9s the previous owner put in back then. Front stage has (also discontinued ancient stock) Jaycar Vifa 6.5" with Ribbon Tweeters, a bit harsh for my liking so (maybe or never) might replace with a pair of Morel Maximo if I feel like donating more money to the car vortex lol.
-
Also re-fitted up infant seat mounts, this required me to attack those pretty speakers with a Dremel to allow the brackets to fit nicely against the car. FB and wreckers wanted $50 for these brackets, I ended up buying them new for the same price from: https://rawsparts.com/nissan_skyline_r33/98-r33-gtr-cra-kit.html
