r34 gtt bosch knock sensors
Dose Pipe Sutututu replied to flyingsquirel's topic in R Series (R30, R31, R32, R33, R34)
Low blow Duncan lol.. So much Halaltech knowledge down the drain, like how to successfully re-pin & configure a NZ Cam trigger kit. -
R34 Sumitomo vs. Z33 Brembo
Dose Pipe Sutututu replied to Thefridge7's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
The Z33 Brembos use a 324mm disc as well, would be much better than the 310mm R34 GT-t Sumitomo setup. I run the Z33 Brembos on my shit box and it seems to stop well at Sydney Motorsport Park's GP Circuit. I have only 437kW, so not huge power but can happily do 2x hot laps before experiencing any brake degradation. Currently using Intima RS pads (superseded model). -
Good analysis! Overall, he's a better driver, he did a flat 1m8s at Wakefield in this shit box, I managed a 1m8.9s. I have too much Camry DNA in me lol.

He's not wrong, because that time could be spent going faster! SMSP is a fun track, it's also very scary. You always have the fear of binning the car with next to no run off! Here's a lap with my mate driving the shit box, he hasn't driven it in about 5 years (since Wakefield days - had better tyres then, less power, however was lower and had softer springs).

Upgraded NEO Valve Springs
Dose Pipe Sutututu replied to Rand0b's topic in R Series (R30, R31, R32, R33, R34)
They're used quite a bit, however Kelford springs and cam combo would be a no brainer. I went with this brand purely from a cost perspective on my last motor (not the 1st one) and carried them across onto the current motor. -

Those are the exact ones in my current shit box (now has a NEO motor). -

Definitely do valve springs, on my old non-NEO motor, with 1.7bar of boost I would get valve float (power went flat, sounded like a misfire). Current motor has Performance Springs springs & Ti retainers. Was about $200AUD more to get the retainers, so why not? Lol.. now I can tell @GTSBoy I have Ti retainers. -
relax bro, don't be so hard on yourself! At least you don't have Camry DNA in your bloodline, my ancestors passed on their Camry DNA to me.

And in car footage of the shit box, I believe I should be able to get it down into the flat 1m50s with more practice with these street tyres. My lines are still a bit shit and I'm wasting a bit too much time coasting about finding the grip limits. Once I can totally master the Hankook RS-4, I might move to a faster tyre like a Yokohama Advan A052.

Stiffer front springs did the trick, went 5s quicker and not to mention the track temps were quite low. Had to retire the car early too, destroyed the rear pads. Had about 30 to 40% at the start of the night and by the end of 3rd session, it was down to the backing plate 😂
-
lol... or that! Tonight I would say is my proper 3rd time out there, the last time I went out was with All Jap Day and both sessions didn't have a good crack at it. Then when the track was clear and I was doing a good hot lap they ended the session early!!!!!!!

Getting ready to take out the shit box to SMSP, filled up 3x jerry cans and car has E20 or so in it at the moment. Also noticed last time I was out there, during All Jap Day (useless day to try attempt PBs on the timed sessions, too many numpties in your race line) I tried to take T8 in 2nd and blazed the tyres, also because the throttle was a bit too sensitive so I've dumbed down the pedal to TB table. Should help make the TB less sensitive when I'm trying to negotiate a turn.
