... that was ALOT of fine development, the kind of r$d that costs a lot for minimal results, but in that case the multiple of minimal results, resulted in a very cohesive package. ... static CR would only have been one small part of it. - for my thought's on 98, I'd prefer the 'buffer' of 8.XXX:1 rather than 9.XXX:1 with -5's. Just for that bad batch of fuel, hot day etc variables. the few hundred rpm difference in boost threshold is worth the extra safety margin for me in a street-able car on 98 with low mounts. - at the end of the day it's probably much the muchness depending on who and how hard it's tuned. I'm guessing this is your daily and you want to build yourself a cool, quick little street car. R32 is a great base for that. I'm also guessing you have limited knowledge about cars/mechanicals. Number one for me is to go out and buy a banging set of wheels with good (read not cheap tires) quality tyres! Wheels are a personal choice and is the biggest cahnge you can make to a car's appearance/handling/stopping ability. My personal preference is a flush fitting, 17x9 inch rim with rolled guards.... something Japanese... have a look through the photography thread for 32's and go through some of the build threads, especially the ones from 6 or 7 years ago. Then before you get to be tear assing around too much, I'd suggest you find a mechanic/workshop that has decent experience with skylines and you can develop a good relationship with (just remember some of the best engineers/mechanics are usually very busy and can often seem a little grumpy). Get your chosen workshop to go though your car and get all the safety related/ preventative maintenance parts serviced. As above, things like suspension, brakes, body/chassis, engine/gearbox/clutch etc. Also unless you have documented proof, I would seriously consider a 100k service (timing belt, idler/tensioner, water pump etc) just to be safe. Once it's all sorted, you'll have a solid base to start from.... and then you can start getting exited about the 'shineeeeey' bits! Some of the most fun on the street I had in a skyline, was in a very basic r32gts-t. Forged Japanese wheels with good tires, R33 brakes, decent clutch, full exhaust, gtr inter cooler, stock turbo running 10psi, coilovers, caster arms, rear camber arms, vlsd (in good nick), r32 gtr seats, walbro fuel pump. That was a long time ago and about the only thing I would change would to add a nistune board and dyno tune. ... Set achievable goals and stick to them. ... more peak power does not necessarily make for a faster car (especially on the street) ... buy it once and buy it right ... a car with less power or fewer mods that is running and driving properly, is a lot more fun than a car with a million kw's, 10,000 mods and sitting in the garage. Have fun J.

have a look around for some 4.4:1 gears.... rb20's love to rev, so depending on what your using the car for, the extra ratio is handy to get the car moving (essentially masks some of the added lag). Cheers J.

To start with, be honest with yourself and really have a good think about what you want to get out of your gtr and how you would like to use it. Once you figure that out, you can start setting goals and planning mods/asking for advice for the best way to get the result your looking for. Cheers J.

Anyone Using A Quaife Diff?
XRATED replied to Lonewolf1983's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
'locking up' generally is a term used to describe a point at which the diff positively engages a torque bias.... this may be a percentage or a full lock up depending on the diff and how it's set. the term is mostly used with clutch style lsd's. An example would be an aggressive kazz rear diff in an s13, at slow speeds it will 'lock up' on a short turning radius and bang the cv's/tyres (essentially the same as a welded diff). this is why I chose the Quaife. http://quaife.co.uk/quaife-products/quaife-differential/ -
yep been there... on my gtr... still ran an 11.4 :-)

swings and roundabouts... 1. do you really want 500awkw? if so (unless it's going to be a hard parker with a dyno sheet in the windscreen) 2. start saving for a new gearbox 3. cash in the rego, throw in a seat, cage and buy a trailer (because unless your looking to get more cubes, it'll be essentially useless on the street) 4. start saving for all the supporting systems (I'll guarantee your fuel system wont support 500rwkw, clutch, cooler, oil and breathing mods, diff/susp/brakes, ign system, ecu/tune.... ) and the list goes on into a big spiraling dark hole of time/money and sacrifice/compromise Cheers J. :-)

Anyone Using A Quaife Diff?
XRATED replied to Lonewolf1983's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
I chose a quaife for the front of my GTR and a nismo clutch pack upgrade for the rear. Different tech to all the others, the result is a better design for the steering and drive end. I'm sure the nismo would be fine if bedded in correctly, i have driven a GTR with an ats front diff, quiet but felt notch-y. I havn't mush experience with an OS front, but I would imagine they would be great on a drag car. Ford used them as oe in some of the performance focus models, so can't be a bad thing. J. -
The Little R32 That Could...
XRATED replied to slipn's topic in Members Cars, Project Overhauls & Restorations
Eh, these things happen... if that's the worst fitting aftermarket part on your car then your lucky :-) Just get the bottom pipe extended (measure the gap, give yourself 20mm of clearance between the pipes) and make sure the extension has a bead rolled in the end of it, like it is now. Should take any fabricator 10min to do tops. You can just run a longer piece of hose over it for now, it will just suck flat under vac. ...getting beat by a golf! man you need some more fast, fast! -
... stock turbo's, I probably wouldn't be looking at cam's just yet. very easy to go backwards. ...as for the parts, seek the advice from the person who will be setting your head up before you buy anything! J.

the spagetti Trust manifold was designed with just one wg, however there was a simplified version that utilised 2 wg's..... honestly unless your drag racing, or have a hard on for t67's you might need to look at a different combo. Cheers J.

Let me know when you need to install the nitrous.... you know, to get it up in the converter. Please say we're running meth and a water to air cooler!

no more power yet....??? how are you going to keep up when you throw 20's and airbags under it? ba ha ha (only just saw that thread last night). Leaf has been out for what, 2 or 3 years? surely someone is trying to hack the stock vcm? I guesss no one really knows how to 'tune' them yet... it's not like you can just turn the boost up, throw some more fuel at it and bump the timing a bit... ... your right though, 'need more wheel spin!' J.
