ahhh... there's a thread kicking around about a rally based r32with a tuned rb20de with itb's some years ago.... worth a look for you id say. id be tempted to just try and find another rb20de, put the cost of a rebuild into brakes and light weight panels/weight reduction. rb20de neo is an option if you can find one. -
Super keen on any further details on the PBM lower control arms and rear end mods. I use PBM gear under my drift hack... heavy duty and well designed, especially for the money. Are you doing anything with the top arm in the front end? Cheers J.

Rb20det Minor Performance Upgrades (update Turbo Selection)

rb20det is a well trodden path. Personally the most enjoyment I got out of any of my rb20 combo's was a stock turbo (with good supporting mods- intake, full exhaust, small cooler, pump, plugs etc), safc tuned r32 with 4.4 gears. Light revvy and fun. My suggestion along with everyone else, is keep it cost effective and fun. Don't chase big power and don't think for a minute your going to re-invent any wheels. Cheers J. -

that's a whole lot of wrong going on up there.... The part would be available new or secondhand... new, try Kudos Motorsport... 2nd hand, try any import wrecker. ... funnily enough, gaskets are available too. STOP USING FKN GASKET MAKER GOOP AND POXY FKN GLUE!!! or sell your GTR cheap to someone who will appreciate it. Cheers J.

Not keen on replacing the glass with polycarbonate? I've been considering it for my track car... I've bent up some molly rod, plan is to weld the rod to the door, hang tabs from the rod to secure the polycarbonate to with isolators. Install a pre-fabbed slide window. Cheers J.

Honestly you aren't likely to get a real response until you actually start building an r32gtr with a vr38. In all reality you could get more power and torque for half the price.... but who doesn't love a nicely tuned vr38? Lastly, the engine is barely half the reason an r35 gtr is fast.... its the gearbox, suspension, weight, width, aero and electronics that all work together that make it fast. If I was to look at doing it, I would try and start with a wrecked r35 and transplant as much of the r35 as possible into a wide body r32gtr shell. J.

Just throw a stock rod under a 100lt press and record the pressure it starts to bend at, then do the same for an h beam/forged rod. Bam... Stock rod strength question answered! 15deg axial load, I'm going to say..... 3t J.

I'd say 5 months is probably ahead of time on a build like this by a professional workshop.... There will be a month or more of a bit of back and forth once delivered to sort any small issues, run in and re-tune etc. ... it's better not to hope for a number on a page, regardless of what the car makes on that dyno on that day on that fuel your allways just a little dissaponted. ... these days I just rock up and go 'it make what it makes' Cheers J. -

OS Giken 1-3 gearset, to go along with your R33 GTR spec upgrade parts is probably the best value for money if your looking to keep it a nice syncro box with a bit of insurance. mishimoto catch can... are you going to install that between the turbo intake and passenger side cam cover (similar to the nismo separator)? ... if your going to run e85, just make sure it's Teflon lined. a 400+rwkw turbo on an rb26.... to my definition, it will be laggy (-5's are bad enough). If set up correctly, it will be one of the better lag v's power turbo's... but laggy compared to a well set up low mount (N1, GTSS, -7, t517z) rb26. Being easy on the gearbox will go along way to helping it survive, but 3rd gear just strips.... it just does. I had a brand new replacement gearbox in my GTR, low mount's and the 3 or 4th pass down the strip 3rd gear just disappeared. I was even granny shifting (not double clutching like I should). Again, I hope it all goes well for you. I hope you get your oiling system sorted out.... but start saving for a couple of gearboxes or a gear set. -

In all honesty, I hope it hangs together for you... but once you start staring up the skirt of 400+rwkw, 3rd gear just packs up and goes home. I look at GTR's as either as responsive as possible low mount 380rwkw or balls out torque and lag top mount 450+rwkw with a gearbox and front lsd... Cheers J.
