  1. I don't really want to discuss this, because quite honestly, I don't really know... I'm not a panel beater Being a layperson in the art of panel beating and repair, I can see straight away that your repair is a 110% quality job. What experience I've had with panel beaters has told me without any shadow of a doubt that they would NEVER do take this kind of time and effort on a normal repair job. It's all about fastest turnover, and that doesn't involve seam welding, magna spotting or wet sanding the paintwork... It involves bog, and lots of it I do however understand your point completely... In that you can't make sweeping generalisations like people do about cut 'n shuts being bad, as obviously there are some extremely highly skilled tradespeople doing tremendous jobs on cars such as yourself. edit: Oh, and there's a world of difference between a habib and a dodgy habib
  2. If these came off a GTR, they aren't suitable for a GTS-t. They'll fit, but they'll be the wrong offset and front wheels are too wide. That said, R33 GTR wheels (17x9) fit just fine on a GTS-t, so it all depends on the offset.
  3. Guys, you have to remember that not all shut 'n cuts are done with the same tender loving care that Troy takes in preparing his own car... Panel beaters and dodgy habibs in their backyards aren't going to undo the spot welds along the chassis rails of two cars and then seam weld them back together like you have done. They'll take two half cuts and weld them together straight across the width of the car and cover it up with underbody tar. I don't think it's too much of a leap of faith to say that most cut 'n shut jobs are absolutely unroadworthy.
  4. I'd be in 100% for the end of the year...
  5. Brendan: 20psi at 4500rpm Chris: 7psi at 4500rpm Bwahahahahahaha... Hope you get it sorted sometime in the next 8 hours Chris!
  6. Someone's having a few boost problems I see
  7. If you're thinking it'll have live coverage, you're deluded my friend I think FOX Sports will be filming it and broadcasting a show about it like they did for the first one at WSID. If it's any indication, it took them about 2-3 months from filming to airplay for Round 1
  8. Hooray!!! Lets revive a 4 month old thread!!!!
  9. Believe it or not, Payless Tyres in Chatswood are Volks/Rays distributors and can order ANYTHING direct from Japan for you. They're the ones near the Midas and the Caltex on Pacific Hwy.
  10. Okay... some questions and thoughts. 1. Who runs the day? Does the $4000 fee include WSID staff to organise or do we have complete run of the place? The reason I ask is the WSID staff are pretty darn good at getting the cars through at a good rate. If we did the organising, we'd probably struggle to get the same throughput rate they do. Which leads to yes, we'd probably struggle to beat 3 minutes between cars, but the WSID guys can do it in 1/2 that time. 2. You have to factor in oil downs and other time wasters too... They can take a LOOOONG time to clean up. 3. So if we have to pay $100 just to get 6 runs, that's not overly great is it? Is that even worth the effort of organising the day if we can pay $45 and get 4-5 runs at the normal Street Meets. 4. How is it WSID are able to take upto 200 cars and still move them through at an average of 3 runs per car? (Cars who get there at 3pm get about 5 runs, the cars that get there at the close of scruitineering get about 2-3 runs) 5. I really think 50 cars is very ambitious, especially for our first event. I'd say aim for 30 cars.
  11. So when is Dundan starting his Mexican lessiones?
  12. Please don't take this the wrong way, I want this to happen to, but it's in the "too hard basket" at the moment. Adrian (2RISMO) is SAU NSW's Drag Racing Co-Ordinator, so if you wanted to help with organising the day, please PM him. I think I heard a figure of $10,000 for renting WSID for a day as well, but I'm not sure how accurate that was.
  13. So how would it work? Take deposits from XX people until we have enough to cover the day and *THEN* book the day? How's that going to work? It won't. I'm not willing to put a deposit down if a date wasn't set! What if I couldn't go on the date that is decided upon! We'd have to book the day FIRST, and THEN get money off people, which goes back to the weaksauce, all-talk people I referred to before. And it would be 100% deposit, as half the money doesn't help as SAU would have to shell out the other 50% if you don't show up.
  14. Going by this post............. You might not be the best spokesperson for car enthusiasts out there
  15. and how much would you be willing to participate in this kind of event? $50? $100? $200? It's been thought of, and discussed at the AGM. Hiring WSID is expensive, and SAU doesn't have the members, or the budget to wear the incredible loss that we'd face if people are all talk and don't actually show up once it's been organised. We're talking thousands and thousands of dollars here. From prior events, the rate of "all talk" people is frightening. "Yeah bro, I'll come for sure!!!" Then we book it and then all the excuses come rolling in... "Nah sorry bro... No money" or "Nah not this time... I have my cousin's funeral to goto"
  16. If you compare two different cars for the aim of having an honest comparison about the turbos, you HAVE to factor in all the other differing mods done to the cars. Hell, something as small as one person having new APEXi pods and the other one dirty HKS pods can produce as much as 5rwkw difference, let alone cams, throttle bodies, head work, ECU tuning, engine compression, etc etc etc... Those kinds of comparisons are fine for good fun (like we're doing down in Melbourne in a few months re: GTR low mount turbo choices), but it's hardly a scientific comparison.
  17. Bingo. End of discussion. This is as pointless as coming up with bullsh1t definitions for AWD vs 4WD
  18. Shouldn't be too hard if you compare an HKS GT3040 vs. Garrett GT30 (GCG) on an R33 GTS-t with a high mount manifold. But this isn't indicative of other turbo pairings though... You'd have to compare them all doing a straight swap on the same car to get a definitive comparison.
  19. I'm afraid that Show 'n Shiners aren't allowed to bring any pit crew in... Sorry Dan

    Hey all

  21. Why not just tell the wheel alignment place that you just had the wheels refurbished, and if they scratch them, they'll have to pay for repainting them? Would be a lot easier than buying a whole new set of wheels just for wheel alignments!!
