the x-trail may have a tow rating of 2000kg, but that doesn't mean it will do it nicely. that is basically what the chassis, etc will take. says nothing about how it will tow. i did a quick search on it yesterday and found a lot of posts saying that nissan was a bit too generous with the tow rating for the x-trail. also you didn't say what engine x-trail you were going to get. if it's the petrol then you will struggle to sit on 100kmh (if you can even get to 100kmh). to put it into perspective, the petrol x-trail puts out about 15% more power and torque than a SSS pulsar, but weighs about 40% more (1100kg vs 1500kg). i've towed cars in commodores and falcons and they pull fine. we picked up a mates silvia in a vt commodore wagon. sat on 110kmh easily. picked up another car in a vy commodore and with 5 people in the car it sat on 110kmh on the highway fine as well. i've towed a bit over 1000kg behind a GT forrester and it did it ok, but it was small stuff (steel) that didn't even come much above the top of the trailer so there was no aero drag caused from it, unlike a car which acts like a sail and slows you down even more.

which one? turbo diesel or petrol? if petrol than good luck with that. you would've been better off with a commodore or falcon as they would pull it much better. the turbo diesel should be ok though. actually has a decent amount of torque, unlike the petrol.

shouldn't make a difference as the thermostat is still going to control the temp that the engine is running at, not the radiator.

i highly doubt that the V8 supercars will go to being indistinguishable like NASCAR is though. i'm sure that the fans wouldn't like it and more than likely the car manufacturers wouldn't like it either.

what boost pressure are you running? i'm guessing it has something to do with it

Forcing Oil Pressure By Disconnecting Cas?
mad082 replied to mosquitocoils's topic in General Maintenance
to be brutally honest it probably won't be required. if you do want to get the oil circulating a bit first, then yes, unplugging the CAS and turning the car over for about 30 seconds will do the job. unplugging the CAS will stop the injectors firing and the spark plugs sparking. -
i'm not sure if they are different, but it may be that your mate either isn't sitting the thermostat in properly, or is putting the thermostat in backwards. maybe take some pics of how he is putting it in and post them up here.

i'm guessing that the reason it's 'maybe' in the game is that there hasn't been any official confirmation that it is in there. so they are simply guessing that it will be there going off what was said. and release date looks like it might be december 9 going off what i just saw on GTplanet. sony have a comp running where you can win the signature edition and the previous end date of the comp was november 4. it has now been changed to december 9.

i don't really get the comparison to nascar though. how is nascar any different to things like DTM? they till have a lot of regulations to make the car as close as possible to each other, it's just that the engines are more modern (regulation brakes, gearboxes, restrictors in the intake, electronics, etc). hell, look at f1, take the stickers off the cars and you couldn't even tell which car was which. at least with v8's you can still tell what make the car is. so nascar, dtm, v8 supercars, they are all the same really, just different individual rules for the cars. but generally speaking the rules on what they can and can't use is the same.

can't. they phone only runs 1.5. i had to root it to get 2.1 on there as motorolla decided that they no longer wanted to update to 2.1, even though the phone has only been on the market in australia for about 6 months. there are no 2.2 roms compatiable with my phone. and i had only looked for angry birds on the market, where you have to have 2.2 to find it. but i pretty much never play games on my phone. the missus plays more than me but she only plays solitaire. i'm at a computer all day and when at home i can play the ps3.

does the gas get changed on compliance? mine was pretty good. but when i got my second magna the gas was gone so i got it regassed. on a hot day, straight after regas, the aircon guy put a temp gauge into the vent and put the fan on full speed. got down to 9 degrees before the thermostat turned it off. think it got back up to about 20 degrees before it kicked back in again. but that was only in the vent, but the car still got nice and cold.

R32 Gts-t Alternator Not Charging, Possibly Blown Fuse
mad082 replied to wht32's topic in General Maintenance
it could be a fuseable link/relay thing that has blown. i had a similar thing happen to me once. car still ran without the relay. i'd simply check both the fuse box in the car and the one in the engine bay and see if any are gone. -
black 33 with carbon bonnet with GTS 33 plates on it parked out the front of work in the main street of gympie. not bad looking car.

i've been told to get angry birds on my phone, but i only have android 2.1, so i can't as it requires 2.2.

there is a positive side to it though. all these dicks that write off multiple cars doing stupid things will no longer get insurance so they will start to learn their lesson. at the end of the day, if you don't do stupid things it's your own fault. it's like people who whinge about speed cameras or getting pulled over by the police. if you don't break the law you don't have to worry. i'm sure that if they changed the road rules so that if you were speeding 40kmh or more over the limit gave you a 1 month jail sentence everyone would chuck the shits, but at the end of the day, doing 40kmh over the limit isn't a minor slip up, or missing a speed sign, it is a deliberate act of breaking the law and you have to deal with the consequences. and while i know that the insurance companies would try to do the wrong thing and use the data to either drastically up peoples premiums or refuse to insure people, but at the same time they could use it to show who was to blame for an accident (so if you run up the arse of another car and you were doing 10km/h over the limit and they were doing the speed limit then you are obviously at fault and shouldn't have been speeding and that contributed to the accident). it would also show the insurance companies who the irresponsible drivers are who deserve to have higher premiums. there are plenty of boy racer import owners who floor it wherever they go, always brake at the last minute, corner faster, etc. and these are the ones who will get screwed under this plan. if you drive it as a daily, and drive no differently you would any other car then you won't have an issue. i'm sorry for the rant but i just get sick and tired of people getting upset that they aren't going to be able to do illegal or unsafe things in their car without some sort of punishment.

the radiator looking thing is the air conditioning condenser and the tube thing is the dryer, also for the air conditioning.

the boot on any sedan smaller than a falcon/commodore is small. as for hatches, depends on the car as to how big the boot is. the missus SSS has a small boot compared to my mothers corolla. but both were smaller than a commodore or falcon boot. have to go to a wagon to get a bigger boot than them.

Is There Any Benefit To This Turbo Set Up?
mad082 replied to KezR33's topic in General Automotive Discussion
how does the turbo use heat? the turbo uses exhaust gas flow. sure the exhaust gas has less density when it is hotter, therefore being a larger volume, but if you take this into account with exhaust size and turbo size you could balance things out a bit. plus there is the advantge of the fact that a byproduct of the turbo is heat, which then reduces power, so having it further away reduces the power loss through hotter intake temps and restrictive intercoolers. -
sif not use the dark skin SAU

i would assume that gt5 will either have the current F1 version, or both the new and old version (like how they do the different versions of the fuji track). i highly doubt that they will do just the old version as it would be harder for them to do than the newer version. (since they could simply map the track in it's current form easily).

well you won't know EXACTLY what HP it has at all 4 as every dyno will give different readings, so you will only know roughly how much power it has. running on 2wd for a tune will be fine. going to ask the obvious, but you have an aftermarket ecu yeah? if not, then tuning won't do shit (as the stock ecu can't be tuned without some type of piggyback system, etc), and any dyno place should be able to wind the boost up for you and do a power run to see what it gets.

downloadable content i think

+1 for turbo diesel 4x4. something like a patrol or cruiser, although the petrol ones will still tow well also, just a bit thirstier on fuel.
