Can't see it. I was running two aftermarket coolers without the radiator "cooler" last winter and had no real issues. It did take about 20mins to get the trans out of its cold start mode though lol... but certainly nothing like what Stefan is describing. Just on that Stefan, if you have 3/8" (9.5mm) hoses from the radiator to the cooler you may be leaking trans oil as 3/8" is larger than the 8mm (5/16") hose barbs on the radiator. Come to think of it, when I first put in the two coolers (a PWR 6cyl and a Mishimoto) I had a bit of flaring from the transmission. Turns out that the 3/8" silicone hose I used didn't seal around the transmission inlet/outlet hose barbs (no matter how tight I clamped it) and I lost about a litre of fluid so definitely check the fluid level (when warm ideally). I got around this by sliding some thin-walled clear hose over the barb and pushing the cooler hose over it - both on the outlet of the radiator cooler and the inlet of the transmission. Works like a charm Which transmission cooler do you have? As an aside, I checked the transmission oil level/colour last night after my normal hour long drive home (maybe you got me a bit paranoid. Still full and still the same bright red colour which tells me that after 50,000kms or so the Nulon is not yet breaking down.

To what extent is the "slingshot" and how much accelerator are you giving it? I have a PWR cooler hooked up and use the Nulon fluid (have done for over a year now). Do you have the radiator cooler hooked up as well? I personally have not had an issue with the Nulon oil. My car behaves the same as it did after I had the transmission flushed by Nissan with the Matic J and additive satchel put in.

M35 Transmission Fluid Change...
iamhe77 replied to matty_M35's topic in Four Door Family & Wagoneers
You should be able to get quite a lot by draining (about 4L or so), unfortunately ours takes over 8L, so you could do it again the following weekend which is effectively just diluting the old oil with fresh stuff or alternatively take it to Nissan for a transmission flush and take the price of the oil off the bill (you will lose $$ though). hmmm.... while I think about it, would something like the Liquivac work for removing all the transmission oil? Maybe look at getting some Matic-S from the US? We have yet to receive it in Australia, but it is the 100% synthetic replacement to Matic-J. Agreed..... -

Agreed with Scotty, the Sougi S6000 is top of the list in my books. The car feels more "together" than any other oil I have used bar the 300v (had the same "feel") and has quick rattle on cold start unlike with Redline oil. I tried a lot of different oils early on, but used Motul 300v or Redline for the past year and a half or so (I can't understand why anyone would skimp on oil of all things!). I did use Amsoil 10W40 but didn't feel it was any better than Mobil 1 or Shell Helix Ultra hmm... if you must go with Amsoil you should be able to get just under 5L of Amsoil 10W40 for around $80 or less, not a steep price to pay for a grade IV oil.... although I can't imagine why you would when you can get the Sougi S6000 (Grade V oil) for around $60. -
Just go to King Springs or Pedders for some springs. You should be able to specify the height and spring rate that way. Having said that, I am sure that there would have to be a few ARX owners that are willing to part with their stock springs... Oh, and it is not just the Kakimoto that sits low, both the Legalis and the Nismo cat-backs sit pretty low (although it does look like the Kakimoto rear muffler is a bit lower). It is just how it is... even if you raise the front pipe, the cat-back will still be low lol. Having said that though, the exhaust that PetroDola just bought offers a little bit more road clearance.

Surely have to see a 12.5 or maybe a little less.... surely.

Yep, keep the stock cooler and make sure that your new radiator has a transmission "cooler" in it. If that means you need to get the original OEM one taken out of the busted radiator and put into the new one, so be it.
-
You should have 2 coolers - one in the bottom of the radiator and the one pictured above. The cooler in the radiator works to try to keep the trans oil at a constant temp, ie heats it up in the winter/when cold and cools it in the summer. Obviously Nissan decided that the GT8 requires a second trans cooler to preserve the transmission. If your new radiator doesn't come with one, take it to a radiator place that will put the stock "cooler" in the bottom of the new radiator. Whilst I don't have the CVT (My Stagea has the RE5RO5A - same as 5-speed V35's - but AWD, obviously), when I replaced my radiator I found that in winter I needed the in-tank cooler (noticeable difference in shifts due to the trans ECU's oil temp settings), so had the stock one ripped out and added to my custom radiator.

?? Maybe I have a problem with my monitor but that interior looks black to me, with the standard grey seats. Chris, can you confirm that it is black? It certainly isn't tan (although the tan interior still uses a lot of black pieces) and from this computer it doesn't look like the grey interior either.

Boost cut is a bitch aye!... and there is always more to do in the engine bay -
LOL @ "Jetweak" Anyway, the BC's are a little softer than the Nismo's and both have excellent dampening. I prefer the Nismo spring rates although I am sure that my wife would prefer the BC's lol. Difficult to directly compare as mine a just a tad older than your BC's. As I said, if I didn't have the Nismo's, I would certainly go for the BC's... no question, very comfortable, very settled, adjustable, what else do you want? Will be interested to see how they hold up over time.

V35 3.5 Black Sedan 2005 Semi-auto Price Drop
iamhe77 replied to Dark1's topic in For Sale (Private Whole cars only)
More info/pics? Where are you located? etc etc etc.. (got a mate who is looking for a V35 sedan) -
I have to agree with these guys. BC's will give you a very comfortable ride and are height/damper adjustable. If I didn't already have my Nismo S-tune, I would certainly be going for the BC's.

Oops, don't bother quoting that number - it is specific to my chassis and comes in the BX9 colour. Best bet would be to give them your VIN so they can put it directly into FAST... I couldn't get a price from them as it is a factory option item... in Japan, thus Japan have to price it up I am told. For reference,an unpainted standard bumper for RS is $770 inc GST so I wouldn't think anymore than around the $1k mark for a new Aero bumper (unpainted)

At Transmission Oil For V35 Coupe?
iamhe77 replied to ja5on350's topic in V Series (V35, V36, V37 & Infiniti)
haha, indeed! I was merely quoting what they charged me for the Matic-J flush + additive satchel. One would think that a manual box flush would be about the same price or possibly less due to the gear oil required. -
At Transmission Oil For V35 Coupe?
iamhe77 replied to ja5on350's topic in V Series (V35, V36, V37 & Infiniti)
Yep, Matic J or Nulon 100% synthetic transmission fluid (I have used this for the past 60,000kms - no worries) Matic D or Dextron III will destroy your clutch packs faster than you can accelerate to 100kms. Take it to another Nissan Dealership. Nissan Ferntree Gully in Vic do a full flush on their machine with Matic J (this includes the transfer case for my car - AWD) for $275. You should also ask for their additive pack to be used in the flush (all new Nissan have this added prior to sale). -
Chris, what would be the asking price of the plastic cover on the trans tunnel (the one with the silver disc on top here the shifter is - and possibly the elbow rest behind it)

Have a look on Yahoo Auctions for the Eibach springs, they are a bit firmer than the normal Bilstein ones. Pretty sure that Jetwreck has a set on his ARX.... he may be willing to sell them if you ask him nicely Otherwise, there are a number of companies in Japan that do springs but most of them are lower than the ones you have now. You could look into a set of Nismo springs, they are 20mm lower than stock but are quite a bit firmer. Other than that, why not look at something locally? I am sure that good local suspension shops could make you up something that suits.

Scott! You didn't tell me you removed the kids seats! I thought Jack was in the back for those runs (he would've loved it!)

Nissan can order the Aero bar in no problem. Part number is K6020-AQ003 and it will come in unpainted. +1

For Sale - Nrg Strut Bar, K&n Hi-flow Air Filter

Any chance of seeing if the strut bar will fit on an M35 Stagea? -
Man, you chop and change your mind so often I can't keep up! The PM35, V35, Z33... none if these have the throttle restriction - yes I know none were FI, but planty have been with only valve body upgrades to their RE5R05A transmissions
