  1. It is super impressive how much power they have gained with just tuning and boost increase. what's just as impressive is how quick it is on road/strip/circuit to begin with considering it's packing "only" 290awkw from factory. Who would think a car that weighs so much, and has 20inch rims with road rubber, and packs under 300awkw would be such a super car beater. It just goes to show that torque, and response and how the power is delivered is so much more than just a peak number. and it shows how good the chassis and gearbox is. I have driven the standard car and it blows my mind, with 60awkw more it would just be off the planet!
  2. you have far too much free time!
  3. thanks benno. I have never measured them, just going by what I was told in japan, and by a few workshops here. if they are the same it's weird as there is one workshop here in sydney who swears by "N1 cams". lol, he buys, and fits them and tells me they work very well with small turbos. in fact up to that point I had always thought they were the same too, but he convinced me. edit: ahh, ok, just did some research. they are different to regular R32 and R33 cams. so still a good change for 32 or 33 RB26s and with some cam gears would be nice. but you are right, 34 GTR and 34 GTR N1 use the same cams. so no point for any 34 owners to buy them really. They can be used in RB20 too, but I have seen some pretty mixed results from RB20 with GTR cams. anyway, considering all that, make the cams $350 a pair. 1 set of valve springs sold.
  4. yep, it's down there now in the horden pavilion at moore park. It looks pretty good I reckon, but surely will go pretty much unnoticed amongst the 'kandy' paint and massive chrome rims. I saw a car entering last night. it was about a 1985 daihatsu charade. still with the standard body. but with some crazy paint job and graphics including a massive sticker across the windscreen in silver glitter that read SEX SPEC. sadly I fear it will probably score more points than the poor ol GTR! sex spec indeed. anyway, go check out the SAU display. we are way up in the corner. some nice cars there and the 32 will be in the dyno comp too. I can't wait to see what it's making on the run in tune. bearing in mind it's only running 14psi, conservative tune and no cam gear adjustment. I think it feels like about 280rwkw but hard to judge as it has really strong top end.
  5. yep, velo GP90 would be perfect for what you want ben. very good quality seat, and made in aus. plus they have different sizes and can accommodate the 'ample gentleman'. they are in your price range too from memory.
  6. yeah, no way is that road legal. the belt will be coming around the headrestraints and end up in front of your face, which means you need to use a 4 point harness which is illegal on the road. we are really talking track seats here though, so road legality is not an issue. personally I have a race seat set up on it's monuts and harness and just swap it out with the road seat as needed. takes about 10 mins.
  7. a lot more guys are thinking this way now. a few of the guys I know racing in historics are now looking seriously at hans. and any of them who have recently bought seats or helmets have all made sure they are compatible with a hans device in case they decide to get one in the future.
  8. haha, I have heard he is also smarter than einstein, hung like a malee bull and far better looking than brad pitt.... folks, mean irish. the illusive new owner.
  9. haha, no worries. I can be a bit defensive sometimes. apexera were rescued from the brink of bankruptcy about a year ago, but that has nothnig to do with RB25 PFCs not being available. yes, for a breif period they stopped producing all parts, right down to air filters (i panicked and bought up heaps!). for about 2 months they were not filling or taking any orders. then they came back on line. but that is all irelevant to the RB25 PFC problem. from what I understand one of the components (processor or chip) that is used in that model PFC was manufactured by NEC. they have stopped making that type of chip, and without any supply, apexi cannot make any RB25 PFCs. like I said I will be glad if I'm wrong, but I don't think I am. I mean, if they had RB25 PFCs, wouldn't they sell them to me? or anyone else? they sell me S15, or GTR etc, but not RB25. anyway, gtstcoupe has stepped up to be the guinea pig so we will see how he goes.
  10. if you can afford it I would go for it. It's pretty exxy though. you need a hans device (min $1K) hans compatible helmet (preferably with the fasteners already installed) min $600 hans compatible seat (seat has to be the right angle and allow the right amount of space) min $1K it's a lot of dough, but of course if it saves your life once it's worth every cent.
  11. Item: new RB26 N1 parts Age: 2008 so 0 Condition: brand spankers Price: various To Fit: (What car) RB26 engines (and some bits fit RB20 and RB25 too) Location: Sydney Contact: me, by pm or post here Comments: Hi Guys, I recently purchased 2 brand new R34 RB26 N1 Nur motors. These are the top of the line factory built RB26s you can buy and were fitted to the R34 N1 Nur editions. Both the engines I had dissambled from brand new at Prime Garage in japan and rebuilt with some even more upgraded parts. So I have the following bits for sale. They are all brand new and were removed from the crate motors without either motor ever doing a single revolution. I have: 2 X full sets of RB26 N1 valve springs, these are a good idea if you are installing cams into your R32 or R33 RB26. nothing worse than old valve springs. a mechanic here in sydney recently tested these N1 springs against a set of tomei type A springs and tells me they are virtually identical. Price is $290 per set of 24. $10 postage for most of Aus. bargain valve spring upgrade. 2 X Brand new genuine Nissan timing belts. again, never been used, and genuine is always a good choice if you are doing a big service or cam upgrade on your RB26. The timing belt I understand also fits RB20 and RB25. Price = $100 each. $5 postage for most of Aus. 2 X sets of N1 cams. These are known as a great mild cam upgrade for use with turbos like N1s, garrett -5s and -7s and HKS GTSS or 2530. They have higher lift and longer duration than regular RB26 cams. Being genuine they are also better quality than some of the cheaper aftermarket options. These are direct bolt in to R34 RB26 but please check with your mechanic about fitting them to R32 and R33 RB26 (they may fit, or you may require the use of an R34 CAS). Price is $400 a pair postage I estimate at $25 for most of aus. Bargain cam upgrade! Many cluey workshops have been using N1 cams with good success for years now. That's it for the moment. Pics to follow tomorrow or saturday.
  12. you say that like is a dissapointment. you should be proud of that. head drinker in gingerbeering is quite an achievement.
  13. still no body has answered my original question. "has anyone actually ordered and received a new RB25 PFC from these guys in recent times?" I know you are keen to organise a group buy, but I would still strongly suggest you wait until at least one person successfully orders and receives one. it will really suck if you take 10 peoples money only to get screwed around indefinately.
  14. cool, good luck mate. it should come out fine.
  15. yes, chinese oil cooler kits leaking is nothing new. about the only ways out are to try and seal it with thread tape (not a very nice solution), or just chuck it out and buy a nicer kit like one of the japanese ones. i have 2 trust kits at the moment on 2 of my cars and neither has leaked so much as a drop. ever. and no thread tape, or goo, or o-rings needed. just bolt it on and away you go. if you use thread tape be careful not to let it get into the lines etc.
  16. I wouldn't sweat it mate. plenty of high power RB26s running fine without an external oil drain. as long as things are done properly. block off a feed, and get the internal oil returns ported out a bit and cleaned up so they flow more. much easier and seems to work very well. that's what I've done with my donkey. I might still add an external return to be safe, but if you do ad one, try and put it in the right spot. just replacing the rear welsh plug like so many do is not the way to go.
  17. pm me with these gentlemans details please
  18. JAL is the way to go for sure. they fly direct syd-tokyo no stop offs etc. they have excellent service and are just a good airline. now a days I only ever fly JAL to japan.
  19. why does it have to be federals? there are plenty of other tyre options out there, and to be honest the federals haven't impressed me all that much, except that they are dirt cheap.
  20. yeah that is bullshit. boo fking hoo. those poor residents who have to put up with noise, during business hours, for 3 days out of a year. and as if it doesn't make economic sense. I mean the money I spend there on beer alone would keep John brumby in short pants for years. and if those poor residents have been 'suffering for 14 years' then why the fk didn't they move away? i mean if it's that horrible and you remain traumatised for the remaining 362 days of the year then give yourself a break and fk off somewhere else. maybe canberra would be more their speed. next time I see janet cribbs i'm going to give her an uppercut to the balls.
  21. not really, and for most people that means a fair bit more than two white wine spritzers and a midori illusion.... lets just hope you drive better than you drink!
  22. yep, off the top of my head they have: carbon bar, undertray and carnards, carbon front guards, carbon side skirts, carbon rear guards, carbon doors, carbon boot, carbon wing, carbon dash, carbon bonnet and carbon mirrors. actually the front bar is FRP but still very light. It is going to look so nice when it's done. It will be interesting to see what it weighs. I'm tipping under 1300kg. maybe as low as 1200.
  23. not worth the effort. just flog the 33 kit and use the money towards a GTR specific cooler kit, or even just keep the stock one. they are very happy even at 300rwkw.
  24. yeah but it will be worth the wait. mark and russ picked up all the aero gear + widebody from my place the other day and the quality of the bits is out of sight. I think the bits we chose will all work very nicely together. I know mark is cracking on with it as quick as he can, but waiting on parts etc tends to add to the timeframe a bit. I really can't wait to see the finished product. most serious circuit 34 in oz hands down.
