Few Dyno Run Vids Of The New 26 And K5-660r
Beer Baron replied to STATUS's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
haha, but the 518Z is not too shabby. more power would always be nice. I am always open to swaps though..... give me your TD set-up troy and you can try the 518Z. see what it's like at 2 bar. -
probably best to just follow the instructions that come with the can (assuming you got a GTST/RB20 specific one). I've always just bought the model specific cans purely for the right brackets, and bungs and hoses etc. but basically you want an outlet from the covers going to your can and then an outlet from the can going to your intake (between MAF and turbo). or bung up that pipe and just vent the can atmo (not the best though).

I say put it on the dyno and see how it's running. it may or may not need a re-tune. but a quick dyno check will tell you for sure.

I'm here boys! been steering clear of the thread as I taped the race and just watched it now. Firstly, Well done Kubie! Nice work you sexy hunk of polish man glory. He has been threatening a win for a while now and it's quite fitting that he did it at the track where he nearly killed himself just 1 year ago. He really is one of the best in the field and I think he has a great racing style, and a good attitude to go with it. Well done to DC too. He always seems to capitalise on races with abnormal condition and/or leaders crashing out. Not bad for an old bloke. Very dissapointed with webber. I sincerely hope he had a problem of some kind because he should have been up there in front of DC. I missed some sections of the race but webber must have had a problem, or really bad strategy and timing because he was looking good to do a 'bradbury' and score some good points in the wake of the carnage. Very poor that he finished second last out of all the cars that finished. As for Adams boyfriend louise. what can I say? I remember fondly all your talk about Kimi's racing accident and called it a 'noob move' and 'noob mistake' well personally I reckon if you looked up either of those descriptions in the dictionary you would see a picture of hamilton running up the back of a stationary ferrari. It was a really rookie mistake. I would even say piss weak. and even more lame that he took kimi out with him (though very convenient for louise). I haven't read all the news but from the above posts it sounds like he's getting penalised for it? I'm not sure how I feel about that, i'll get back to you on that one. Anyway, forget that rubbish. GO KUBICA!!! and well done DC you old sly dog you...

Importing Help Needed
Beer Baron replied to leeuwin's topic in Importing, Compliance, Modification Laws & Regulations
yeah, importing a car can be very worthwhile but don't get sucked into just looking to get a cheap car cheaply. try and get a nice car and be prepared to spend a little extra to get that really nice, special car. Since the fixed costs associated with importing and complying cars are quite a lot it's not really worth importing cheap cars since the bulk of the money you are outlaying is paying for the freight, duties, agents, compliance etc. so you end up spending $10K to get a car that cost you $1K. For a 33 GTST I would probably look here as they are so cheap now. But for a nice GTR, or RX7 etc for sure consider importing. -
it really depends on the shop. but most will allow you to source the new tyres as long as you provide them with the invoice for them to keep with their paperwork. and of course they must be new, and DOT or E marked. Since all shops do things just a little differently it's hard to definitively answer these type of questions.

My Importing Journey
Beer Baron replied to hanyou's topic in Importing, Compliance, Modification Laws & Regulations
lol, thanks for the heads up, I know exactly how long it takes having done 4 cars in the last few weeks. and if you live in sydney shipping a car to brisbane only to have to truck it down to sydney is about as foolish as it gets. it takes longer, costs more, and means the car goes through more sets of hands. especially if in this case the car left on the 29th and wont land till nearly a month later. if you are having problems with having cars cleaned at AAT in sydney (and they take fking ages) then get them cleaned at hobbs instead. costs a bit less but works out about the same when you factor in $50 to tow the car there. they do it in a day. no problem. -

complete waste of time. they car is only fit for a japanese junkyard mate. and there are a lot of costs associate with shipping. it does not 'cost one grand to ship it over'. fixed costs with importing and complying a car run to over $8K so there is no point in buying a piece of rubbish for $1800. you may as well spend decently on the actual car and get something worth having. -
what happened to webber? going by his times in Q1 and 2 relative to the others in those sessions he was looking good for 7th or there abouts but didn't set a time in the last session...

Plumb Back The Trust Type R Bov
Beer Baron replied to jarron_87's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
I wouldn't put an RS on a GTR though. too small. Get the Type R, it won't be hard to plumb it back in. I'm pretty sure you can get an attachment for it too to plumb it in, but any competent mechanic could make one for you. The Type R is a good bov. -
no problem.

steal Russ's sequential hollinger when he's not looking....

Greddy spec M is out of production. and when they were in production they were very cheap as they use a cheaper core to all the other greddy coolers (still nice piping). $800 for one is pretty cheap. brand new in japan they were around the $400 mark. I believe they have been replaced now by Greddy LS. but personally I would get something a little nicer. something higher up in the greddy range.

do both, and if you want some nos it might be worth talking to herman at envy imports. they are big on nos at the moment and have done quite a few installs lately. plus they now have big arse NOS charging station in their shop, and I know they are close to you too in brooky. and I still say do both. afterall the ultimate goal here is to chirp seconds and that's not going to happen with this current "turbo OR nos" attitude....

dundan. you window borken? unpossible!

it just proves that hamilton has no talent. it's all just lots of practice made him good. and his dad is a wanker. tried to pull a nice second gearie up his own street and fked it up nicely into a playground. had there been kids playing there he would be in some serious sh1t.

i'm sorry mate but this whole excercise is pointless. even if everyone post up how much they pay it doesn't help you one bit, unless you live in the same house as them, are the same sex, the same age, put your car in the same garage, drive the same number of kms, have the same model of car, with the same modifications, the same alarm and have the exact same driving history. unless you can say yes to all those things then your quote will most likely be different. just shop around, call as many companies as you can. and be honest about your driving history and your circumstances.

Cant Edit Posts
Beer Baron replied to QWK32's topic in Site discussion - including Ideas/Feedback & Bugs
this would be the ideal solution, but we will have to see if it's practical. as it would mean much more data stored. and I don't know if it's even possible with the software we have. -
Need A Center Bearing
Beer Baron replied to NT R32's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
the other option is to go 1 piece for around $450. no more centre bearing, plus it's lighter too. -
Few Dyno Run Vids Of The New 26 And K5-660r

did you click on them? they work fine for me. as for budget he's saying it's a cheaper way of getting a very responsive set-up rather than going for a 2.8 or 3 litre build up. that with the 2.6 and the current gear it's a good package without having to spend the extra dough on strokers etc. -

and lastly, do you think the .61 T04Z or the blitz kit would be a good choice for 350rwkw? -

Beer Baron replied to STATUS's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
thanks mate, that helps. it seems they are fairly close in wheel size and trim. So perhaps the HKS T04Z with the smaller 0.61 exhaust housing would be comparable to the blitz turbo you have? does the blitz turbo or gate run v-band flanges. I am in love with V-band flanges. -
My Importing Journey
Beer Baron replied to hanyou's topic in Importing, Compliance, Modification Laws & Regulations
bummer that it's shipping to qld. that means it will have to be sent road freight and take about another week to get brisbane - sydney. anyway, at least you have this thread to keep you on track. if it's landing on the 26th that means it's not on a boat yet as it's usually just under 2 weeks on the water from japan to aus (varies a little depending on port it was loaded at, and the route of the ship, but usually 2 weeks). if it's landing on the 13th it will already be on the high seas somewhere. -
Container Vs Roll On Roll Off
Beer Baron replied to rtune's topic in Importing, Compliance, Modification Laws & Regulations
well if you are shipping to sydney definitely look at using a line that ships direct. the less people/companies that handle the car the better. the docks in sydney have been tightened up a lot. you can no longer just sign in and then roam around in there. thanks to terrorism you have to have a MSIC card which costs about $350 and takes a bit of dicking around to get, so really only people who have a need to be on the wharf, will be on the wharf. as I said, it's a risk but there is little (nothnig) you can do to help it. anything obvious like guages, or boost controllers just remove in japan and get them posted back to you, same goes with spare keys and log books.
