  1. you got screwed I can promise you the tax free threshold is $1000. back in the day it was $500 I think, but enforced pretty loosely. what they did was up to to $1K but enforce it much more actively.
  2. tax free threshold is $1000 AUD
  3. GT TV launched in 2008? hahaha, It's already launched. I was using it last night. I watched some D1GP, and they had tokyo motorshow coverage on there, and some Top Gear on it too and even Best Motoring. nice.
  4. yes there are a few 'warranty void if broken' seals on it. but I don't think any over the HDD cover.
  5. lol! no chance of me carrying one back for you lover boy. I did that last november when I bought one at launch. 1 they are bulky. 2. they are pretty heavy. PS3, in box plus controllers and games was bout 10kg. plus back then since no-one had one every japanese guy was eyeing me off like he was getting ready to snatch and grab it. hell the valet from the hilton even happily let me leave it in the cloak room for a week, then when I was leaving carried it 5 blocks for me too! and I was getting $1000 to carry that one back. no way would I do it for less the second time around. just post it monkeh. about $100 EMS. and yeah, it's a good way to go I guess, especially since the 60gb is no longer available here and pal ones are now going for $1300. but I had a japanese one, and decided I wanted a PAL one and I'm happy with that. last night spent playing GT5 on the 46inch 1080p LCD made it all worthwhile
  6. depends on height and also tyre brand. but if it's very low yes they will touch the guards. I would go with a 245 or 235 tyre that will give you some more room. but at standard height I would say it wont be a problem.
  7. If you want transplant go RB26. for about $4.5-$5K you can get used RB26 complete with turbos, AFMs, intake gear, injectors, intercooler etc etc. get the sump modified and fit it up. run 1 bar boost and whack in a power FC then you have 250-270rwkw all day long. it will probably stretch your budget a bit and you will need a few other things like fuel pump etc but it will be pretty cool.
  8. hey monobrowCountry. ponder this for a moment. an R35 GTR weighs about the same as a monaro it's a two door coupe like the monaro in it's country of origin it costs the same as a top spec monaro (actually the GTR is about $10,000 cheaper) it makes nearly 500hp... how much does a monaro have again? it does 0-100 in under 4 second... how long does the monaro take? it does the quarter mile in 11 seconds... how long does a monaro take? it laps the nurburgring in 7:38.... monaro? It puts out nearly 500hp from a 3.8 litre engine.... how much does the monaro make with it's near 6 litre capacity? nissan has great quality and reliability... does monaro? Don't get my wrong, I love monaros. for the money they cost they deliver great looks, performance and comfort of cars above their price. I also don't feel the need to sign up to holden forums to rubbish their product. so what is your problem with the R35 GTR? It's a great car, and personally I can't wait to get my paws on one.
  9. well I had a little go. got a 4:36 and best lap of a 2:12 (second lap obviously!). I think I may have ballsed up the settings though. I had ASM off though, MT, I think TC was on 1 or 2 for that run, but could have been 0 as I did try that. not sure about ABS. I think maybe you have ABS confused for ASM. the car looks awesome. in car is tops. but probably the best bit is passing the F430 as it sounds awesome!
  10. sorry mate, now sold. and reason for sale was in the first post anyway
  11. i have used chinese upper arms and chinese castor rods. not happy with either. switched to cusco castor rods and noltec upper arms and never looked back.
  12. not bad, you get a much better idea from those pics (or chops or whatever they are) than from the little simulator on the nissan site.
  13. I know I posted here before. but have to say it. in general I fking hate photoshop. people use it all the time to make photos of their rubbish car look great but this one is awesome. such a cool idea, using the 32 group A paint scheme and wheels on the 35. I reckon send it in to a magazine or something that has competitions. or even send it to nissan. it's a great combination of a cool idea, and good execution.
  14. why stop there? erase the top 2 million drivers and I reckon I have a shot.
  15. yeah... biased much. I say erase the top 300 drivers in the world and mark skaife will be F1 champion.
  16. I'm with Faid on this one. get your engine out son. there are a few crucial things you can achieve when you get it out: sump baffles (or even better enlarged sump) crank collar fitted new oil pump replace all the hoses around the back of the engine check bearing condition none of those things can be done with engine in. it will also make it much easier to remove and replace the turbos once the engine is out of the car.
  17. you can run into problems when removing butterflies from the intake. to the best of my knowledge there is a thing coating on the intake runners that helps them seal which is slowly worn away (could be wrong about this, as I've never been able to pick it myself). also, there are seals on the sides where the rods are and these are hard (impossible?) to source and replace. if they are leaking you will have high idle. also when re-installing the throttles to the intake you need new gaskets and may even need to have the mating surfaces 'faced'.
  18. true that! hell I can't even read most of what I can read in option magazine! now if only they would print japanese mags in all kana, or maybe romaji I'd be onto a winner. anyway we have gone way OT due to me being a pedant, so let's get back to R35. who else is dying to see one in the metal in a different colour? so far they have all been the standard silver, but I'm keen to see a gun metal one, or the coppery looking 'titanium' colour. red may also surprise (as it looks crap in their colour chart thing) and white could also be one that looks good in the metal but rubbish on paper.
  19. michael, you need a new TV!!! expect a time soon. I downloaded it last night, hooking up PS3 to my new TV for the first time tonight so I will spend some quality time with GT5 prologue.
  20. dude, it's not an adaptation of bluebird attesa. bluebird: transverse mounted engine and gearbox (ie FWD platform) with an open centre diff sending an even torque split F+R. centre diff mounted in gearbox, front diff mounted in transfer case. no active torque split. it's a purely mechanical system. GTR: longitudinal mounted engine and box (RWD platform). transfer case apportions drive. NO CENTRE DIFF. electronicly variable torque split. infinite variation from 0% front to (supposedly) 50% front torque. drive transmitted through transfer case using wet clutch packs. there is no concept in the bluebird that was adapted to the GTR system. whoever wrote that magazine was talking out of their poop chute! there is notthing you could carry over from one to the other. maybe some 10mm bolts. well and the name. that's it.
  21. sorry typo, mean to say first gen PS2, made in JAPAN. like my first PS3 was too that I bought last year. The current PAL PS3 are made in china. funky, Japanese PS3 is cheap, but you can't play any aussie PS2 games on it, can't play aussie DVDs, and sooner or later wont be able to play aussie BDs either. and if they start coding PS3 games then it's even more of a bitch. that's why I bought the PAL version. it's nice to be able to play local movies and games, plus warranty is nice too. anyway, currently downloading GT5 prologue. can't wait to give that a crack
  22. funky, funky funky. bluebirds attesa and GTRs attesa are two completely different things. the GTR did not inherit attesa from the bluebird. it's was purpose designed and built. they are completely different. about the only thing the two systems have in common is the name. the bluebird is constant 50/50 torque split. 32 GTR is mostly 0/100 and constantly variable. the GTR uses wet clutches and hydraulic pressure to distribute drive. the bluebird has a conventional centre diff arrangement.
  23. nice, I just spec'd one up in black. with bose system and snap-on tool kit (lol, $2K for that). total's 9mil inc tax.
  24. you missed it. just finished about 5 mins ago. I caught the last 10 mins.
  25. ok, I just caught the end.. d'oh!
