  1. The only easy way to tell if it is at TDC for cylinder one, is to take off your rocker cover, turn the crank using a large breaker bar or ratchet on the front of the crank, and when both your rockers are in the overlap stage (exhaust just closing and intake just opening) then you are at top dead centre remember - 4 stroke engine goes - intake, compression, combustion, exhaust. So your looking for it just finishing the last stage and starting the first stage.... that is the intake valvle beginning to open and the exhaust valve finishing closing.... The two stages will overlap slightlighty, this is called scavanging The distributor will install two ways, one is at the point I described, and the other is 180 degrees out when cylinder one is at top between the compression and combustion stroke (both valves closed, spark plug firing) The rocker arms are the easiest way to tell where top dead centre is,
  2. Bit cheaper then a re-tune but lol? The map tracer makes it really hard to see where the knock is because it only shows you what cell you are on not what figures you are getting on that cell..... The only way to really do it as far as I know is to find the point where it has a high knock (eg full throttle, 3rd gear, 5000rpm) and then mimic that in map tracer to find the cell where it is getting this bad knock This is a pain really... Much easier with FC Edit or another program seen as you can log in Map watch what cells are getting which figures. Im happy to be corrected if wrong but I think eleminating knock on the hand controller is pretty time consuming
  3. Be easier to just have a look under the bonnet at your accelerator cable and how its running.... And get under your pedal bracket and have a look there....
  4. Those Knock levels seem super low. Perhaps you should try a different fuel besides V Power? Just saying, it might be as simple as changing to BP Ultimate or one of the other 98RON fuels
  5. Random Post for the day: My car has plumback BOV again after a few weeks of thinking about how to plumb it
  6. Id have either lol, I love the pumped guards on the black and the insane power. But I had a look at the AMG version and its pretty nice as well
  7. I can imagine the smoke pouring out of his ears watching all this and not being able to reply lol......
  8. Ummm I'd say you might have a bigger issue there....... I never even notice my fan engaging or disengaging..... Maybe something more severe is wrong, I dont even hear mine
  9. Thermo Fan Thread 2 seconds of searching and I think the face palm was in reference to a discussion about this very thing this week This Weeks Link That thread discusses the fact that although it looks primitive to some, the standard clutch hub fan is very efficent and works well. And you also have to realise that electric fan draws power, which comes from the altenator, which the engine also drives..... So there you go, if you want to do it ive given you a thread to help And I've given you reasons why you shouldnt do it Happy?
  10. Im still waiting on an answer for my question If you want money now go be an operator If you want to set yourself up, do the hard yards now (as people have said) and get an apprenticeship Or, if you want to be happy do what you like wether it pays shit or really well, trust me. I did half a year engineering at uni cause I was semi interested in that sorta stuff and it was good money. The money thing made the decision for me to start it and then 6 months later I relised I didnt want to be at a desk doing maths/physics the rest of my life... at least not at the moment so I left uni and got a diesel fitting apprenticeship...... None of what I did I believe was a mistake because Id have regretted not going to uni If i Hadnt and now I'm nearly finished an apprenticeship that I really like. Moral of my story is. DO WHAT YOU LIKE NOT WHAT PAYS THE BEST..... this isnt just a rant, im telling you from experience Thats why I asked what you like doing, cause at the end of the day thats the only question you need to ask yourself
  11. Coolant doesnt boil or freeze as easy as water which is why it is used. Tap water is bad for running through your block as it may cause rust/hot spots due to contaminants. Distiller water is usually mixed with concentrate coolant
  12. It would be more so airflow in excess of expected and the ecu will be most likely chucking fuel and taking timid out of it. And as said when it hits the point where VCT switches off it's dying R33's dont have boost sensing to the ecu so it will be your AFM saying WTF If he's doing a remap it should fix your problem but you should probably go to the spark plugs you mentioned above as well
  13. No no no They will be talking about outlawing certain coolants in favour of a non glycol based coolant. Use coolant. Theres no reason not to on the street. That reg is probably to prevent contaminating the track if some part of the cooling system let's go
  14. youll need to replace the camber arm with an adjustable one. or you could get camber bushes from whiteline etc (check the whiteline website for what I'm talking about) your rear wheels have a pretty aggresive offset dont they? might need to get your guards rolled or flared
  15. Ive had tyres going red then not fully returning to blue but I think if I took it easy they went bak to normal
  16. +1 Mine was a stock standard car when I bought it. If you like doing the work yourself then you will save some money along the way and you get more satisfaction out of it. But if you want to do it as cheap as possible our probable better off buying an already modified one. Although hen you dot know how good or bad the worksman ship isof things that have been done to it till something goes bang
  17. Did you bleed the air from the system both times you replaced the coolant?
  18. V-spec II sticker worth 20kw?
  19. are you ordering E85 in from down south?
  20. radar guided cruise control is a bit different to what this is....... This is actually driving the car
  21. Oh your talking about the AAC valve hose. Now I get it. I wouldnt have thought it would be in the way? on the stock crossover pipe its plumbed in on the exhaust side of the blow off valve. Yours would have this setup now? I think everything will sit above the new exhaust manifold? I'd dummy fit it and see
  22. oh wait are you talking about the hose thats coming out of the Exhaust side rocker cover? if so it goes to the suction pipe that goes from AFM to turbo. You should have this on your stock setup anyway? will go to the same spot
  23. I'm not far off lol OP. It's hard for us to suggest a job when we dont know what your interests are. Tell us what you like etc
