Hey Long story short I got a GReddy Copy forward facing plenum for basically nothing and am getting to the stage where I can put it on. Before anyone says anything im not putting it on for an extra 2000kw or anything, I just like the fact that it will clean up the engine bay and make a few things much easier to do. The plenum has been checked out and it looks all good. Anyway.. Basically just after advice on a few things. I've looked through the thread about installing one and its pretty helpful. - Cooler pipes - I have cheapish chinese cooler pipes that came with my cooler so I've decided I'm just gonna get new stainless ones made for it. I was going to run it through the hole where my current cooler pipe runs (sorta underneath the washer bottle on the side of the guard, the usual spot) but I think i might just run it straight through where the washer bottle currently is. Does anyone have any suggestions for this and if anyone is willing to tell me how much they paid for coole pipes to a FMIC then to the turbo with front facing plenum, keeping in mind i will have to have a pipe for the aac valve and BOV off the main cooler pipes. - Washer Bottle - Ill be getting rid of my washer bottle for the cooler pipes probably (if i dont go through the current hole). Where is a good place to get a replacement with the two outlets for both washer motors? Have a mate with the same plenum and similar setup to what i want to run but he claims his washer bottle is out of a series 2 R33 (mine being a series 1) but Im not sure if thats where its from, his is mounted between the bumper and front part of chassis just before the radiator - Just any other general advice or suggestions would be appreciated... I have a basic idea of costs and stuff and think I have thought of everything (have got plenty of boost line, got the kit with the plenum with all the adapters bolts etc and will be getting new intake manifold gaskets etc from nissan) so just any friendly advice that anyone has for me would be much appreciated Thaks Guys

My X-Force is pretty good. Its turbo back with a highflow cat..... which im not sure would pass emissions... but it makes a pretty nice sound without being to loud

I think theres a debate on the pressure being equal across all cylinders during boost. Theres for and against arguments from what i remember, be interesting to see for real what actually happens within front facing plenums (using stock manifold) under boost and vacum conditons.

i dunno didnt think there was enough room to go down through the inside of the bay..... Mate has a washer bottle mounted on the front of his car so it sits between the engine bay and front bar kinda deal. Looks nice with just the cooler pipe going through the bay. Im getting mine put on soonish so just workig out the last couple of things.

Wheres everyone with a front facing plenum re-locating there washer bottle to?

do simple things first, check your coolant hoses are tight and stuff like that. Just so you can eliminate the simple stuff saving some dollars taking it to a workshop

Boost Drops From 13psi To 8psi Throughout 4500rpm And 7000
89CAL replied to Visionaree's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
could be a leak or restriction, check your cooler pipes are all connected nicely and done up tight, Your intake pipe might be closing in to (rubber pipe from turbo to afm) depends on what setup you've got, post up a bit more info could also be your boost controller? manual or electronic? More info and I'm sure someone will be able to help sort it out -
interested in photos to, should look good, especially on a white 33

Pull your head in, Doing those speeds on public roads is just stupid I apologise if you are talking about this being on a track/strip but I dont think its wat u mean....

Timing Belt, Question For The Mechanically Minded
89CAL replied to haleja's topic in General Maintenance
140000ks with unknown history... thats the problem aye.... mine came with 78000kms on the clock (wether that was the tru milage or not is another thing) but i did all my stuff before it hit 100000ks if you dont know the history and you can afford to do it, i would the peace of mind is just amazing knowing youve done it -
yeah as above probably the best idea.... play around for a bit knocking 1 degree of timing out of it till the knock goes down. Add some fuel as well if you want to be extra safe

Timing Belt, Question For The Mechanically Minded
89CAL replied to haleja's topic in General Maintenance
Do a timing belt in an RB then u will relise why u do the water pump at the same time...... It is a big job just to do something you could have done as part of a 100000km service anyway. and if using the 'if it aint broke dont fix it' attitude with the timing belt? well I dont know about you but i like my pistons to be valve free. Timing belt can gradually fail or instantaneously fail. Replace it, it doesnt cost that much and its a whole lot cheaper then a new engine/rebuild Thats how i see it anyway -

Just letting you know the dash turned up yesturday morning. Im not home atm but will be on friday so will check condition then but i trust itll be A-O.K Cheers for dropping it in brisbane for me Will PM you and give you some trader feedback when I get home and have a look Cheers -
mine all lined up nicely and the sensor fitted perfectly mind you i did get the full system with the cat for the 33 so i guess thats why. Perhaps the cat you got was just a generic 3" so just had the most common cat converter sensor size in it?

Dont supposed anyone has tried the x-force exhaust manifolds? Im thinking about getting a low mount one. one of my mates rang them up (the place he works for is a dealer for x-force) and he told me the guy from x-force said they had early problems with the manifolds warping but they have fixed that in the latest version of them. Just wanted to know if anyone had seen/used one?

thought u had the front facing on? I had problems holding boost with mine so I'm putting a new filter on it before the next run and prob buy a decat pipe (like 80 buks on just jap) just to be safe if ur intercooler and piping is a good brand then it shouldnt be that but if its not the best on the market and ur piping (or silicon hoses or clamps) are just chinese cheapys then they may pose a problem... but ill stress the word 'may'. Its probably just a good idea to check everythings all good.

atmo bov? might be causing it, that would be the most obvious thing if you have one if your car has a stock ECU try resetting it, might help
-
I was thinking the cat might be a bit restrictive so gonna try a decat pipe next time it goes on the dyno to see It still doesnt feel to bad I just want to eliminate that as a suspect, Tune might just be a little out so will see next time it goes on the dyno The full X-Force exhaust system is great, I love the sound it puts out, nice RB sound without being overly loud
-
Think you need to probably explain the situation a bit better Are you mainly worried about the white smoke? Could just be moisture in the exhaust when cold from sitting over night and then as the exhaust heats up it just evaporates into white smoke... White smoke is usually an indicator of water/coolant if its a bluey smoke then it could be burning oil. But more info will probably help

The Tomei Fuel Pumps are just as good
-
Think its a check valve, goes in your tank between the fuel pump and the cap It replaces a purple stock fuel check valve (i think its purple? or brown?) I didnt put mine in and it still works fine, but if I'd known thats where it went would have done it when i did the pump Someone clarify its a check valve? i think thats wat it is?

Had a 3inch mild steel turbo back system for a year now No problems that I can tell sounds really nice to, not to loud just right aye
