  1. It'd be great if Luxury Car Tax (LCT) were that little. In fact LCT is 25% of the GST exclusive portion of the car's value over $57,009. So if you buy a car in Japan today at 10,400,000 yen you pay nearly $17k in LCT. To calculate it on an import you have to know: FOB Cost of the vehicle + Freight cost of the vehicle + Calculate 10% import duty on top of that = Call this total value "A" If that value is greater $57,009 then calculate 0.25(A-57009) = LCT
  2. The McLaren driver probably stopped for an espresso half way through the lap.
  3. Possibly from Nissan Australia. I think if you were to ask Nissan Australia what the prices on this stuff was once the car is out here we will pay a hefty premium over these Japanese prices. Tax, duty, shipping and markup would need to be factored in.
  4. Check em out .... Engine Assembly: 3.2 million yen ($32,000 AUD) Front Wheel: 149,000 yen ($1,500 AUD) each Rear Wheel: 150,000 yen ($1,500 AUD) each More at: http://www.gtrblog.com/ These prices are new from Nissan of course. While they are higher than R34 parts prices, they're not AS bad as I would of expected. The gearbox for example, the Getrag on the R34 was approaching that price when bought new too. The Rb26 on the other hand is like 50% that price new. Apples to oranges as they say.
  5. Get any pics mate?
  6. ah yeah... well this has the added benefit of having GTR embossed on the back too. No close ups of that tho unfortunately. price tag: $350 - $360 + costs like shipping for the wallet depending on how lucky you get with the exchange rate.
  7. On the hi-res image it definately looks to be real CF. Like a small panel between layers of leather. The gloves look a bit iffy in hi-res but even so it looks like there is a bit of carbon weave sewn in there too.
  8. Check these bad boys out: http://www.gtrblog.com/index.php?blog=4&am...p;tb=1&pb=1 Click the Hi Res images links then check out the details on these things. That handle is solid CF. Very nice. At 100,000 yen for a briefcase and 12,000 yen for a t-shirt they're expensive but I somehow still want them. Damn you nissan! Hopefully I'll have enough luggage space next month to bring some of this back amongst everything else. More links to story etc on front page http://www.gtrblog.com/
  9. Also, someone put a 9,000,000 yen bid on it but it has a reserve... bastard! edit: Haha the guy who bid on it - his last purchase on yahoo was a box of tangerines... so I can see why he'd have 9,000,000 yen lying around to have a punt on a r35 gtr oh he's a snappy dresser too! http://page9.auctions.yahoo.co.jp/jp/auction/k45729100 awesome taste in coffee though: http://page2.auctions.yahoo.co.jp/jp/auction/b83011139 ... kinda feeling like an e-stalker right now so i think i'll stop there.
  10. How did Nissan "make sure of that"?
  11. You should take your intake piping off and just shove some old socks down the turbo mouth.
  12. I sold my 34 GTR and bought a 33 GTR. They're better.
  13. They will be on the SEVS list not a problem. Actually getting the evidence together to be able to comply them and doing all the work will be the longer wait. I'm certain some workshops will consider it though.
  14. Someone's trying to cash in on the GTR waiting list already and auctioning off an R35 on Yahoo Auctions. While i think it's funny I sure hope noone buys it off him since i hate people and dealers pulling this kind of stuff. Anyway, its on the front page of http://www.gtrblog.com/ or read the direct link here. Auction link too. Anyone know the RRP on a Premium edition?
  15. Lol... 3000gt cheap... maybe in Toronto... Over here there's buckley's chance of tuning a 3000gt cheap. 33 GTR all the way. Cheap as chips and everyone's got parts for them.
  16. Better tell that to everyone making more than 300+ on N1's then.
  17. Thanks Darren. I'm blogging your info on my site now hope you don't mind.
  18. What's the deal with these, you need the CAMS L2NS before you can participate? Can you usually sign up for L2NS on the day and then begin practice?
  19. JAL sell them too without putting much margin on top.
  20. Are you sure. Last time I had a look at Apexi panel filter it was just a paper filter. I'd change it around the 10k mark just as with a regular paper filter from Nissan. The pods are made of different stuff. There may be a new Apexi panel filter out I haven't seen though.
  21. Armorall is not good don't go near the stuff. People will defend it and say it makes their dashboard look good. The problem is once you start applying it you cant stop or it dries out and makes whatever you put it on age faster and look awful. No pro detailers use Armorall for this and other reasons. As for cleaning the engine bay. Degreaser is good for overall clean to start with but it doesn't get much real dirty stuff clean. I use a few things for really dirty engine bay areas: 1) Simple Green concentrate. I don't know what's in it but spray it on concentrated for tough dirt or dilute it and spray it everywhere. Leave it go a few minutes max and rinse it off. I think you should be able to get it at supermarkets but I had to get it from Bunnings. The green bottle is the one to get. 2) Meguires non-acid wheel cleaner. This gets next to everything off everything. I again don't know what's in it but it cleans very well and I suppose it's non-acid so hopefully is ok to use on most things. Don't just spray it everywhere though it's more of a spot product. 3) Other more aggressive wheel cleaning products. I would never just spray this stuff on the engine bay in general but in very limited spots this might work better than mequires. 4) To clean any zinc coated metal item like bolts, brackets etc I use WD40 and a soft rag. Spray lots of WD40 (make sure you don't overspray on other items - use a rag behind whatever you're spraying) and wipe it all off. I clean of any residue from any of these cleaners with some non-residue aerosol cleaner like CO contact cleaner but only if I can't get it off with a rag very easily since CO contact cleaner is $20 a can.
  22. Import duty is calculated on the item + freight. GST is calculated on item + freight + duty. So if the item is $980 + $50 freight from Japan you pay: $980 + 50 = 1030 + 10% duty = 1133 + 10% GST = $1246.30 Yep the govt double dips on tax.
  23. Hornsby nissan can get it for you.
  24. Yep works in Vista ultimate for me. I only use the Jap libraries though. If you want to use it real bad maybe get a Windows XP VMWare image and use VMWare player and run FAST inside the VM image. Alternatively you could use something like Altiris Software virtualisation to give each application it's own virtual OS layer. Pretty big effort to run FAST though.
