  1. well there ya go, never knew that. dont get -11s, unless you have a very good ignition system you'll have trouble with blowing out spark under full load
  2. i've used bkr7e for years without any trouble, so have many others. apart from the heat range whats different about bkr6e?
  3. normal for them to open a touch earlier. install the ebc and set your target boost, if you have trouble holding it properly then look into better actuators.
  4. sometimes conventrys have random fittings and barbs
  5. thats why it doesnt match the map. it uses timing to hold the target idle rpm. if its idling too high the ecu pulls timing to drop it down, idling too low the ecu adds timing etc after setting the cas so your timing light reads the same as the live timing read out on the h/c under monitor make the 4 cells at the top left of the map (n1, p1. n1, p2. n2, p1 and n2, p2) 20 degrees and leave it at that or if you send me your map file i can edit it for you
  6. so you honestly believe that this guys motor is a ticking time bomb at 10psi? your right you can kill an engine with a stock ecu and any turbo, you can kill any engine with any ecu and any turbo, it doesnt automatically mean the ecu is the sole cause of its death, which is my point. example, go buy a mint condition (like new) r33, bolt a massive turbo on and run whatever boost you like. now dump all the oil and sit on limiter. if the engine dies is it because it had a standard ecu?
  7. must have been a low reading dyno......
  8. na i havent, just saying haha
  9. for what its worth what hes experiencing is the exact same "rich and retard" that everyone else experiences with standard turbos at 12+psi and is widely regarded as perfectly safe and just annoying.
  10. 1. afm maxxes well before you have enough airflow for 12:1 AFR's with the injectors at 100% 2. so 6 degrees from an already conservative map designed for the standard turbo and much more heat isnt enough? i'd agree if hes filling the tank with heptane. 10-11psi is stupid amounts of boost? and that there is exactly why its irrelevant in this case. standard turbos create a lot more heat at these boost levels and make detonation a hell of a lot easier, virtually impossible (unless something else is wrong, which would make that the cause and not the ecu like you say) to get knock with a t04z running ~10psi with the standard ecu's knock maps (which it will be using if there is even a trace of knock).
  11. not sure what you mean by that but the whole more air at same boost thing is because of temperature. the bigger turbo makes the same boost much more efficiently and doesnt heat the air as much, so same pressure but different temperatures, hence different masses of air
  12. yer i know but by the time they get around to testing it they would have probably filled up as its usually only the nearly empty servo tanks that give you trouble. u.k is tiny, they barely travel any distance by car, hence why higher fuel prices arent as bigger deal as here and the US
  13. so a 25 with a t04z running 10psi and hitting "rich and retard" is going to be pinging? pick which side you want, you cant have it retarded and pinging, both instantly killing the motor. fact: above standard airflow the standard ecu runs richer and richer, usually well into the 10s and sometimes into 9:1 AFR territory as it simply runs the injectors at 100%, impossible to lean out with the standard ecu unless something else is wrong. fact: above standard airflow the standard ecu runs less and less timing fact: maxxing the afm (5.1v) results in complete fuel cut please tell me how this is going to cause grenade like pinging and instant death? i agree entirely that he needs bigger injectors and a better ecu, but until then turning the boost down will be sufficient
  14. it wont kill the engine, the standard ecu wont let it. turn the boost down until you get some aftermarket management and bigger injectors, simple
  15. power fc pro is ign cut. normal pfc's are fuel cut
  16. only problem with this is its never regulated after being at the servo and its very hard to tell when they're getting low. i've had bad batches from low servos a few times and there is no way in ther world it was still 98RON. at the end of the day, its unlikely your gonna notice any difference between different brand of 98 on a stock car. if your cars been tuned, use whatever fuel it was tuned with. if its about to be tuned and you can afford their ridiculous prices, BP ultimate is usually the best.
  17. the problem is all the catalogues list platinum plugs for skylines, hence the $20 per plug. so you need to know exactly what you want when you go in there because joe dickhead behind the counter is just gonna take his book as gospel and ignore anything you say. as said, for a stockish 20 bcp6es or bcpr6es. can also use bkr6e is they dont have the others, or even any of those with 7 instead of 6, but they wont last as long.
  18. and (puts flame suit on) revs just as hard as a 20
  19. same shit for an oil pump, engine is still stopping and starting in the same way. the only difference would be between different ecu's, for example, a stocker rb30e ecu cuts fuel to all cylinders when you hit 6200 and then cuts back in at around ~5800. a power fc randomly cuts cylinders to hold the motor at the set rev limit.
  20. you really believe a link that claims 1000bhp from 100% stock internals?
  21. wheres the boxey love?
  22. ecu goes into closed loop timing at idle and ignores the ignition map from memory. to set the timing, go monitor, 1 channel, ign timing and set the cas to match whatevers displayed on the h/c yep, if you reach MBT before it knocks and keep adding timing, power/torque will start to drop off with more timing. so you cant rely on knock alone to tune timing, especially under light load. personally i dont have a dyno or anything like that so just stick to a max of 50 degrees advance at around 4000rpm, less with less rpm obviously.
  23. as said, its a 31. 31s live for slapper 30s with cast pistons and 25+psi boost whats so arseholeish about a v8 31? more power and torque everywhere is a bad thing now is it? twin turbo ls2 skyline would be awesome
  24. got some 5 stud nissan stockies here you can borrow for some booze 0416 914 448
