Hybrid Electronic Boost Controller
Clint32 replied to EnricoPalazzo's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
I was told but am not 100%sure that they are like a electronic version of the turbosmart type 2 stage bleed valve setup, so they are not as accurate as controlling boost like good elec ones they just give you control in the cabin. -
Mine is a TO4 with 0.6 comp and exh housings, it has a large exhaust wheel (58mm from memory) and makes full boost at 4500, if you had a smaller wheel you could get this down to 4g i think, mine made 235rwkw or 315HP at the wheels, on 16psi. While it is laggy compared to some i dont find it too bad to drive and will still keep up with most up to 3k in traffice but once you hit 4k you just have to hang on. If you can find i cheap second hand exhast housing it would be worth doing but will still cost a few hundy to do, not easy to find either. with a turbo like this type of setup you will always have a fair bit of lag, unfortunately you cant have everything its eather cheap power and lag, or expensive power with a little lag.

this week no good, next week would be good for me though

I have an rb20 afm with plug for sale, and a throttle body of an rb20 with no cas, its the same size as rb25 ones. $200 for both
-
dont bother, you can find second hand oil coolers for well under $100, and can get davies craig ones new for $150 or so. PWR also make some decent well priced ones i think.
-
Castrol Formula R, 0w/40 this stuff is very thin, like water and great for turbos. Only problem is it retails for about $80 for 5L, find a trade outlet and pay about $50.

have two 32 gtst wheels i would sell, crap tyres but wheels are good PM me offer.
-
always have just used BP ulitmate and never had a problem, have heard some bad things about Optimax so it dosent matter we dont get it.
-
Caster rods will be $250, I will be making up a few sets soon so let me know if your interested. I make them with 19mm rod ends instead of 14mm ones that many use giving better strength and they last longer. Can email pics if you like.
-
if anyone wants any whiteline parts i am able to get them for a good price, a lot less than you would probably pay at most places. If you also want some adjustable caster rods i make them now for a lot less tan you can get them for elsewhere.

Well done John, looks like there may be a little more in it looking at the MPH and 60ft times for all the runs. Can anyone tell me what other car i missed out on and their times. PS thanks Chris for all the updates.
-
Maybe its a good thing i was away, i dont think i will be going on big cruises anymore. Next time we want to go for a cruise together we should just PM everyone and keep it small with people we know otherwise every one decides to come out and attract attention.

meggala it was my first ever trip to the drags so a bit of a experiece, and i was only really driving with 1 wheel so traction was not there at all, the wheel would just spin and the car would stay in a staight line so i know its stuffed. anyway, i did 4 runs 3rd run was a 14.0 at 108.5mph with 2.59 60ft, the last run was 13.6 with a 2.35 60ft but unfortuately mph didnt record but would have been a lot more. my times got quicker and mph increased but i had to take it easy off the line, slip cluch at 3500rpm when turbo makes full boost at 4500rpm is not the best for a quick car loosing lots at the start and spining wheel ito 3rd. Confident of a mid 12 with a good diff and a couple of runs. Probably get one locked for the drags as this will never fail if done properly.
-
Well it seems after 2 years of abuse my diff has finally lost its limited slip during my runs at the drags on the weekend. Have many others had theirs fail in this way? I do have 235rwkw so it takes a bit. What can i do to fix it better than stock, i was looking for a mechanical one but no one can get them at the moment and they are supposed to be pretty harsh on the street. Im also told you can shim the plates in the diff to tighnten them up, im looking at getting this done to another diff for the street and get my current diff locked for the strip.

still looking for a new diff

Alloy wheel repair - need a rim scrape fixed
Clint32 replied to whatsisname's topic in South Australia
I will try and find out this week for you, for one wheel it will be a lot less than 100 i would think, but then 1 wheel would be a little different however. -
Alloy wheel repair - need a rim scrape fixed
Clint32 replied to whatsisname's topic in South Australia
there is 2 place on south rd near richmond rd i think that do that sort of thing, cost souldnt be to much. I had a mate that had 4 gtr wheels machined flat on the edge as someone had put large gouges in them. Pitty those 540s tyres dont have any rim protection, thats what you get with flat race tyres a guess. -
yeah i was spewing when the 13.6 run didnt have the mph, i had to launch at about 3k otherwise i dint go anywhere when the turbo dosent make good boost to 4.2 its slow at first but hooks up in the top end. with only one wheel spining all the time the burnout i got to redline it in 3rd and the car hardly moved, not like the normal sideways action you get. i ended upjust getting some experience and will have to get the car setup to take the power and get the reaction toime down a bit.

Munro broke a driveshaft after the first pass i think. I had 4 runs, but due to a diff that would only spin 1 wheel constantly traction was not there, best time was a 13.6 with unknown mph, but the run before was a 14.0 at 108.5mph so the best pass would heve been 110-111mph so that is definately good for mid 12s. it was my first ever meet so im not to disapointed, and went faster each time but when you have to take it easy off the line and still spin the wheels into 3rd its pretty hopeless. I was also told by a few people that the track was very slippery compared to normal. Keir wilsons GTR did a few passes but had a couple of dramas as well i think, he just smoked the wheels big time off the line as well. My 60ft time was 2.35 so with a mechanical diff and some better tyres ( i was running nearly bald 540s tyres at 10psi in the end) i will hopefuly run the 12 next time. But at the moment after next weekend there is nothing planed as yet.

Any skyline will do, im a big fan of the oldschool DR30 skylines
-
yeah it dosent start till 4pm, this will give me plenty of time to get my car ready in the morning. Im taking off the rear wing, stripping out the seats, making a new exhaust (side pipe) and going to run avgas with some sticky tires im hopefully going to get tomorrow. fingers crossed a mid 12 is the plan.

There is a street meet at AIR on this saturday is anyone going to go for a few runs. I am considering running just to see what i can do. Does anyone know what time it starts, costs or any special things you need to do to your car. Hopefully i will have some second hand Bridgestone 540s on GTR rims so i should have some traction.

mine seems good for many 8000rpm pulls in the last few weeks. PS. Just because mine can dosent mean yours wount go Bang, but i know of a few that go that hard.
