  1. Id look into getting something different, the stock exhuast housing is pretty small and i would think would be at its limit at 250rwkw. there is going to be a lot more exhaust gasses with the bigger motor so a big housing will be required. Look at the new xr6, these things have pretty big turbos (GT40 or something) and with there 4l spin them up easily so they have very good low down torque and power with 7psi or something. Id say my turbo would be just about perfect on a 3l and at 20psi would make 250rwkw easily.
  2. mine pulls hard to 8000rpm, with the big t04 turbo there is no boost drop and still going hard. The rev limiter was set somewhere above this but it has been chipped. 8000rpm is fine for a stock engine.
  3. Joel with a 3l block why not get a decent turbo, the highflow would not be big enough for that size motor and would restrict top end a lot. For 2300 you can get a GT30 roller bearing turbo that wouldnt be very laggy on that motor, all you would need is an external gate mounted to the stock manifold and you could make your 250+ with low boost easily. Your going to do it all properly so you may as well make a few oil and water lines as well. Should be a beast when its done. Try and plan out as much as you can thought jont just let it flow along, or you will be like my mate building a race car and with not a lot done after 2 years.
  4. last year they were pretty good but probably not worth your travels, but this year there is supposed to be a lot more good cars coming over so it should be huge.
  5. it wont rain on friday, it will rain on saturday just for the drags.
  6. now imagine a stripped 32 gtst, with 1270kg stock i think i could get that down to about 1150 with the aircond rear seats carpet gone, now with 270 rwkw or 340fly you would have 3.38 kg/kw and still be pretty comfortable and a weapon if you can get traction. I still cant decide weather i should get a 32gtr in 12 months or go extreme on the gts.
  7. i fitted a thermostat from a VL to my 32 and run twin thermofans. With the stock radiator and a very big (600x300x73) fomt mount the temp stays at 80deg, in the last couple of days when it was 40+deg the temp would go up to 90 deg. This is with a new radiator and good cooling parts, so a alloy 32mm radiator is probably the way to go, but for $650+ try the other stuff first.
  8. i havent heard any details on the cruise yet, but last years was very lame. went for about 20mins to AIR where they had a burnout comp.
  9. the stock setup would suck the vapours when in vacume and suck them through the turbo when on boost. If it is legal just to have the lines in the air filter pipe its not much different than just having a filter on the catch can.
  10. I am in the need of a mechanical LSD to suit a r32 GTST also looking for some adjustable cam gears to suit a rb26
  11. Boosted rb26 i dont think it is the filters that are lounder rather the setup on the car. When i had a pod filter on my car with the stock turbo setup the pod was very loud with all the woosh noises when you back off etc, now with the new big turbo and a different setup there is no noticable annoying noise coming from the filters, i think it is an rb20 thing with loud filters.
  12. What is the difference between using silicon hose in between the metal pipes and using a 90deg bend, nothing. Its not like you can make the pipes in one piece and weld them to the turbo/cooler. The silicon stuff is very good and would good for over 100psi, air line is made of cheaper stuff and copes with well over 100psi without any change. The UAS kit would use these to keep the kit simple and what it also does is keep the bend tighter meaning less problem for trimming the front bar. Well HSVKLR you could go and pay $2000+ for a Jap kit or $1600 for the UAS kit but you would still need to get it fitted. Find a local performance place you will find a cooler will cost about $800 plus about $600 for the pipes and fitting and you have yourself something just as good (if you were here in adelaide i could do it for you).
  13. This is something im thinking about every day. Currently i have a 32 GTST that is modded in every way, nothing is realy stock except my seats. Has 235rwkw, full suspension upgrade, new rotors/pads, body kit, wheels etc. Probably spent, well i better not add that up ill scare myself. It goes hard, stops and turns and is great fun to drive. But not good enough yet. Im thinking either RB25, bigger turbo etc and get about 270rwkw with huge brakes and a totally stripped r32 to keep the weight down OR get a GTR and do some mild mods with new sus brakes to make a killer street/thrash car. A gtr will be quicker on the street you would think due to traction and would be a nicer car to drive daily. the only thing i dont like is when you open the bonnet and there is crap eveywhere, that and if something breaks it will cost a lot more money.
  14. what are you going to replace the hicas rack with? i dont think there will be a problem with some of the stuff removed, i have unplugged a couple of plugs for the hicas pump and it dosent affect anything. I removed the steering sensor so mine dosent work at all with no apparent side affects.
  15. Steve where do you work? my 32 is in the desperate need of a cut and polish.
  16. What, tell me more about AIR, last i heard it was all good for this year.
  17. Depends on what you want done, for tuning or repairs you probably wont get a quote as it will depend on how long it takes. For other stuff maintanence, exhausts etc you will probably get a fixed price. What are you looking to get done?
  18. MM2death it would be your pump not keeping up, a very common problem on 32s, get a bigger one. The pressure reg would not help as your pump cant pump the pressure required at the moment.
  19. I think you need a PCV valve in the inlet manifold, so all you can do is take the rocker breathers to a catch tank then filter the air somehow and run a hose to the manifold. This means that the rocker cover may be under pressure as there is no where for the gas to go other then the manifold, in which it would then need more pressure to vent back in, if you know what i mean. Ive seen a few setup the same so it must be ok.
  20. oops i broke the carbon canister thing when i pulled my car apart and forgot to put it back in. May have to find a smaller 33 one to keep out of trouble as well as make a proper oil air seperator.
  21. Should be ok Joel. Just looked at the new HPI and in their Steet Drag Challenge the second fastest RWD under 2400cc is 12.6, some minor stripping of the seats and parcel tray, and some 540r's may get me close.
  22. That dosent tell you anything, all it says it you cant fit a bigger motor without telling them, you can get approval to fit a bigger motor though. The problem is that you would need an inspection and we are not going to fit a bigger motor and leave it stock so ti wouldnt pass.
  23. I just plulled the sensor behind the steering wheel off whan i put a new wheel on, it disables the hicas and i cant detect any side affects.
  24. my car is tuned with the afr between 11.8-12.2 this is basically a streight line after the after it drops from running 14.4 in the light load stuff, franks you would pick up about 15rwkw with a good tune, then some more with boost, get the fuel right and you may have to addjust the timing accordingly.
  25. Matt do you know if you need i fire extinguisher or not and if you need any extra bonnet catch. I have a very good Bell helmet i use when i race karts as well as a full race suit and boots but i dont think i will wear them.
