I don't think you have to cut or take off any hose clamps. That insulant is just to stop the air box rubbing against the intercooler piping (If thats the one you are talking about?) Does the Air Box look anyting like this... Its the only pic I can find ATM... I think its a pic from behind the air box...

^^ From what you found, which I think is from Wikipedia. In short, the HICAS helps with turning. From what I read, as you turn a corner while traveling over 80km/h the rear wheels will turn 1 full degree in the opposite direction in order to help the car turn "Better". If you are not use to the HICAS, you will feel the rear 'kick out' abit. Its just to assist you in turning at high speeds but a lot of ppl dont like it as it can be an annoyance, like I said you can feel the car kick or helping you to drive towards the turning direction and sometimes you might end up over steering. I do believe they came standard on GTR's only.

I think there is also a snorkle / air intake attatched to the bottom half of the air box..? Have a look, it could be stopping you from moving the air box and if so keep the snorkle so it feeds air to the APexi pods.

From memory a standard GTR gear box can take up to 500kW but all depending how you shift gears and how well you treat it. I think a Getrag 6 speed would be quite good and I was told a Holinger 6 Speed was real tuff.

Gota 1000 L rain water tank in the backyard, splash the car with afew buckets of water then use ArmorGuard Wash and Wax with sponge the rinse with buckets of water.

Check the Down and Front pipes out. R32 Down and Front pipes are quite restrictive, replace them with 3" pipes, get a high flow cat and you can leave the stock catback as it is about 3" all the way. Maybe change those stock R33 rims to Nismo LMGT4's, get the Nismo Side skrits and Spats and leave the rest. Cool!

Friggin HKS SSQ BOV... Just put your stock BOV back on and replace your air pox with an Air Pod to give the 'Choo' noise.

Check your Power Steerting fluids at the front. The bottle just behind your airbox / pod. Then check the bottle in the boot. Its on the Right Hand side as you face the boot and you can unscrew 3/4 bolts to remove the panel. Top it up with power steering fluid.
