  1. Yep, know that, but wanted to be sure it is a T04 base as well.
  2. yep, garret make lots of turbos, small ones and standard ones.....heaps. Do you have the serial numbers off the patent plate for it? It might help with the original turbo specs, check if it is a T04 etc? Not saying its not a good turbo, but just because its a garrett doesn't mean its the right one for your motor.
  3. Everyone at work is wondering what I'm laughing at [they didn't hear and can't see the clip]
  4. I guess the answer is only a maybe! anyway those marks wouldn't change the compression from 150>60. Seen heaps worse scuff marks than that and compression was still half OK. So that is not the only reason for low comp. If the block was not torque plate rebored and honed then those marks could indicate an oval bore?
  5. I can't add pics in my gallery, lets me go to browse, I attach, and then it uploads right through until the last second and then I get the pink mesage of death telling me to contact admin's. Pics are 4 meg I did try resizing to 2 meg but still got the same result so is this still too big? Wouldn't have thought so but...... I'm also getting the pink msg when I post in some forums [but the post is still there anyway?], but I don't get it for all forums?
  6. Unless you are into older - pre '80's or american stuff - cars and bikes etc. and some cars even had a mix of both for a while and its surprising the number of suppliers of a/f, n/f etc for other non auto jobs like plumping and sheds etc but not skylines
  7. I'll take the boot/battery panel in p1030262. The partition that hides the battery, how much, PM me.
  8. whats the go, I PM'ed and emailed and so far nil response..........
  9. green slip will cost more if you are NSW, you get a discount if you've been a good boy
  10. BTW I could disconnect it as well [just the indicator light], but I would prefer to use it.
  11. Its the bigger red one and its dish shaped on top with sides as well, so not really going to be easy I guess.
  12. or pink yeah
  13. An AFM with and orange sticker is so much cooler than a green one! GTSBoy is on the money here though.
  14. me too, only in wastelands so far!!!!
  15. Better off going MAFless with another ECU. Only just a bit more $$$ and you have heaps of potential if you ever decide to mod it up.
  16. The wonders of modern society - any stepper motor auto ranging gauge is as accurate as you could want and for $50-100 on ebay they are a bargain really. Defi are the pinnacle, but just too exe, you can buy 5 to 10 chinese ebay specials for the price of a Defi. And lately you can still do this and have the Defi name - yep, the china's have made defi copies/knock off's. Even the box they come in looks Defi.
  17. Buy some gauges and then monitor water temp and oil temp/pressure, that way you will know if you need to do anything. Take the guesswork out of it!!
  18. one peice oil control rings are fragile as!!! I actually prefer the three piece scrapers, I think they do a better job as well.
  19. is it a rechip or a some other ECU? But as DVS said>>map
  20. I always reckoned 'just drive it' like it wasn't any differnt to any other car. But have cool downs for the first 200km. So drive it and don't spare it [but don't flog it] for 10 minutes, then cool down. Then do the same again for 30 minutes, and then 60 minutes. Plenty of cool downs and even a check of everything to make sure you got it right. Use run in oil and hills all OK. After this you could get it dyno tuned, but I'd also listen to my machinist/engine builder. I'd also dump my run in oil at 100 and 500. 100 gets all the 'dirt' out, the little impurities and bits of metal that a new engine is bound to have. After 500 you don't need run in oil any more. And run in oil is better for cast engines, not so necessary for moly or nikasil etc
  21. I've got a switch in my car that I want on, but its very very very bright red and is a bit of a pain at night. What do I use [besides a black texta] to dull it down? I don't want to have to buy a $20 can of VHT for a 10 cent size switch with an inbuilt light so I'm looking for what others have done.
  22. Use a jumper lead for the spark plug, much easier. Clamp one end to the motor, and clamp the sparkplug in the other end with the sparkplug plugged into the coil and loom like you normally would.
  23. Crowd safety and a fireproof 'T' shirt.........yep another professionally run event.
