  1. Guys, this may interest you........ http://www.aquamist.co.uk/vbulletin/index.php good source of info, for instance did you know that you can use some wiper washer solutions [not all though].
  2. I thought the DE ones did as well?
  3. Most stepper motor after market gauges are very accurate. The days of using defi and only Defi are over. Defi are a very good gauge, but generally overpriced considering you can get ebay ones for $50-100 with the sensor.
  4. A pic might help, there are lots of different plugs around. Usually you squeeze the two sides in and it should pop out, the yellow part is the inner part of the plug, it also has an outside grey part over it. When i got mine it was twisted together and then taped up!!!
  5. Knock is the limiting factor, if you can use high octane, WMI, or E85 etc then you can screw it on. But you will probably hit the knock wall eventually anyway. And I've got no idea why two identical standard motors with the same power output and one knocks and the other doesn't - I know why there is knock, but why the inconsistency - luck of the build.
  6. You need to check your intercooler pipes and see if there is any oil in them, it there is and your nearly pouring it out then its a turbo. If its only a thin film then its nothing to worry about and is more like your motor. Also get a compression test done and see if its the motor. You can get a s/h std RB25 turbo for sub $500 on the for sale section of this site. I've seen them for half this at times.
  7. Probably a chinese knock off...........and a cop magnet!!!! Anyway the std BOV works just fine for pretty big power numbers, if you use it all you'll end up with is a defect and a car that stalls at the lights. Put it on ebay and sell it on.
  8. lazy solenoid???
  9. Does it run lean? What are the afr's like? thinking it could be a lazy pump or FPR?
  10. on a serious note, if you want a std cat just buy one of the for sale section, ppl are practically giving them away. Also a cat that is gunked up is a dead cat, throw it away, it would be robbing you of hp.
  11. Don't you throw them in the toilet bowl with detergent and then close the lid and flush? Thats how we clean our tabby anyway!!
  12. Snow Performance states less than 100mm, I mounted mine 80mm from the TB [Gtst though]. You don't want it too close, not enough swirl/mix and too far away and the charge could condense.
  13. I'll probably give you a call, but I'm interested in the boot trim. Need to know condition, tears etc.
  14. You'll have to trace the wire, some people disconnect the front doors to stop theives prying the window back and then using a long thin rod to hit the central locking button.......not sure if this is your issue???
  15. OK, thanks Jonno, explained. So in essence the head volume is less but the piston shape negates this, so the final piston/chamber combo volume at TDC may well be the same.
  16. And to add to Disco's questions Are the conrod lengths the same Are the pistons the same ie either a lower gudgeon pin height in the piston or a shorter conrod? or are they the same and the squish area is 18.4% less ie much closer tolerances?
  17. 2 posts....he's lost, but found SAU>>>so thats a start.
  18. Easy to say, can you please explain..............lol
  19. if you remove the alternator any auto electrician can test it for you
  20. are they 60mm across the can/cup or the display ring?
  21. I agree totally, but the fact remains that the added on cost is still way higher than what it should be. You can buy a new Camaro for sub $30K, then add freight say $10K [and thats being generous cos I know ppl that do it for nearly half that], then L>R another $10K plus other ADR's and compliance inc. dealer margin $10K and that is also all pretty generous, you end up with closer to $50-60K. They sell for over $100-120K, there's some gouging going on there for sure. http://consumerguideauto.howstuffworks.com/2010-chevrolet-camaro.htm
  22. Still and all it would be a very brave company that puts out a performance fwd car that is bigger than a matchbox toy...... Not saying it can't be done, but such thought processes have turned many a big company into a small business!!! The one sports saloon area that hasn't been mentioned is the USA one, I realise that Camaro's and Mustangs are bloody expensive - which is a total ripoff when you look at our $$$$ value and what they sell for over there - but if the market ever had a 'correction' similar to the jap import one [remember when importing a GTR cost $000,000's and Gtst's cost $50K] and prices dropped to what they should be then you could afford them. not sure they will offer that great an advantage over the ford/holden 'sports' varieties though? Very similar bases and shared technology so??? but they do look nnnnooooiiiiccccee
  23. next mod is an ECU
  24. This usually happens when you connect and disconnect the battery. Do a search on here, this probelm comes up heaps and there are plenty of threads on here
  25. probably a vice grips or a small plumbers wrench with the serrated teeth? there is a tool that I've got that is similar to those and locks on to the nut end, strangely enough, I think its Dowidat as well. I'll have a look when I get home, but I reckon several tool makers would have something like it. Its a butchering tool for when all else fails. The other tool that comes to mind is a stud remover, but you'd have to have the other end of the pipe undone so you could slip it over and down onto it because these tools are not open ended.
