  1. And lives were lost - - your engine could blow up just like that!
  2. old rule - If it smokes after idling its valve related, if it smokes when you accelerate its rings. You say it smokes at idle and then you rev it. This means valves, guides etc. But on a turbo car you have to add the turbo seal.
  3. Before you do that, just check your grommet where all the wiring comes in through the firewall, its usually [but could be different for a R31] under the inner gaurd cover. If its not sitting right, or has split, you can get a swimming pool filled from it on a wet day.
  4. water in your afm black box?
  5. Use an old wheel nut on the thread for those you want to knock out but keep. That way you are hitting the old wheel nut and not the thread end.

  7. Should have a knock meter in a GTT [engine check light] that will flash at 60.........but I wouldn't rely on it, and you'd also be assuming knock is prevalent as it leans out.
  8. Damn, been away and just saw this......too late, I'm booked out, I'll be slinging spanners around fixing up other ppls f#ck ups on a couple of bikes so can't make it [and they are trailering them to me so I best be here....lol]
  9. But around 200 to 250rwkw, or somewhere in that range will give you an idea at least. And btw your pump is close to 12 years old, so it may no longer be in its best ever condition.
  10. I'd do a double take on the walbro...........get a tomei/bosch/nismo and re try. Also see the FAQ section on using a dedicated earth lead for your pump. Also try taking your K+N panel out and running without it just to check.
  11. agree with bubba, top hose.
  12. your probably hitting R+R because its still cold and you have a bigger turbo doubt its anything to do with turbo bearings being under oiled not much you can do about it if you still have the std ECU, its a tuning thing
  13. You hide it behind the elephant!!!
  14. I thought the motivation for installing these accessories was to adequately monitor vital parameters? Complexity should not then be the prime motivator - indeed it should not even be considered.
  15. Whats the use of splashing $$$$ for an external gate when you have an internal>>>>>and>>>>you intend upgrading your turbo anyway? Wait until you upgrade your turbo and ECU and then do it all at the same time, then you will only have to pay for new dump and pipes once! And absolutely no gains at all until your pushing up to 300rwkw. Then not so much a gain as better wastegate control. But there are ppl on here with internal gates that will swear that they have it all under control at over 300 - it just took them a while to finesse their setup.
  16. Read up and you will find that there are heaps of parts that fit..........so it depends on what you have, what you want to do, and what you need to replace. Ppl are always using GTR FMIC's, seats, FPR's, cranks, rods, fuel pumps, etc etc etc>>>>>the list is large.
  17. Nah, he means loosen it and slowly swivel it in its adjustment slots while someone cranks the motor over. If it fires up in a certain position then that means you had the setting wrong. You'd still have to fine tune it though to get it exact. Then lock it off and your good to go.
  18. I know that the GTR badge fits as well..............see it on GTST ghey boiz carz with baseball caps on backwards and big dopey poo pants.
  19. Sounds like they disconnected your boost gauge vacuum hose to use the vacumm while they tuned it and then forgot to reconnect it. Have a look at around the front of the rocker cover or somewhere on the drivers side in the engine bay and see if you can see a couple of small 6mm hoses that need to be connected up again.

  21. time to buy a multimeter? The bulb might look OK but still not be making contact, you need a multimeter to test it as a circuit. I am also guessing that your boot light fixed itself?
  22. Sit it outside on a stinking hot day, use gloves to handle it and then do as above^^^^ the extra heat works. If its winter use an oven on low around 50'C and try it. A bit of low heat will let you undo the impossible.
  23. Cigarette lighter fits straight in, no probs.
  24. What would a '09 GTR sell for here? $90-120K [i didn't look, just guessing], if you could buy half cuts less engine and do conversions etc it would make it worthwhile to do as a business maybe? $18k for car, $10K for freight, $10K for compliance, how much for L>R???$20K??? I'm not sure about the laws ect in doing that sort of thing, but the maths looks good.
  25. yeah, its kind of like riding a rocket, you just know ist going to go hard but will also blow up eventually!!! But for one lap it looks good.
