  1. I think he was (but didn't mention) talking about the second crash there that happened on sunday. gravel traps didn't appear to do anything (that being said, cameara was following the car, hard to get a feel for any change in velocity).
  2. I agree with pretty much everything else your saying, except 1700000AUD is practically twice as much as 900000AUD. probably not worth that, but hell, that's what was paid for it.
  3. That's something like 1.6-1.7AUD, twice as much as what this car sold for.
  4. No. But they've been supercharged to make that much, and relativly cheaply at that. Yes, there was a R33gts-t on here that had the VH45 conversion done, in QLD from what i remember. He ended up running a superharger on it, running methanol fuel, and some other fancy jazz. from what i remember it was in the low 10's at willowbank. And yes, i deliver. spent a while going through my SAU history, but found the 20 page thread about it linkie enjoy.
  5. There was a thread on here last year about someone who suppoesdly did a compound charger setup with a gt35 on his Rb30et, can't remember specifics though. Wonder exactly how useful it was though, because at the end of the day, just give the car enough revs and the powerband stays pretty linear if you don't go back below those revs again.
  6. Get a GTR? dunno what your reason for not wanting one is, but if its cost: you'll probably spend as much messing about trying to turbo or engine swap your current car.
  7. Best thing i've had is, on my first P's, sitting on the limit, 50, going up the hill to the lights, in a normal residential area. some bitch decides to undertake me... and i ended up getting to the lights just behind her (they were still red). Wearing P plates seems to make people have to prove they're faster than you too.
  8. I was under the impression that the twin's would be bolt on (well. fiddle, curse, and bolt, on. but bolt on none the less)
  9. Removing an essential part of what makes the car start/run seems to be a better option. Of course its not as easy to remove the distributer arm on a skyline since it doesn't have one, but i'm sure there's something else that'd work.
  10. I wouldn't be annoyed if they just flat out said it was revenue raising, instead of just doing this and pretending it alone is going to actually have some effect on the road toll.
  11. And where do you propose we get the hydrogen from? It'd have to be produced from water, which would take, guess what, electricity! just like the electric cars would anyway, in regards to pollution. In other words, if every car was to become hydrogen power, they'd actually all be powered from coal and nuclear too. The good news, i don't think nuclear power is anywhere near as bad for the enviroment as you make it out to be, minus of course, any meltdowns.
  12. Electric cars could be useful for a lot of people in Australia (i know a lot of people will say "oh, but what if i wanted to go on holidays", however, if everyone took a good honest look at where they actually took their car, i think a very large portion would find that they'd never go more than 150km from home) The main problem with internal combustion engines is that you really can't get them as effecient as a powerplant. So yes, they might burn a lot of coal, but they also put out a Gigawatt. Odds are they put out less CO2 per Watt than your modern turbo diesel does. And then, even if their tech doesn't improve, and we keep burning coal, they'll become viable for a portion of the country, because it's probably the best form of energy storage we have apart from oil, and oil doesn't seem like its going to stick around for that much longer.
  13. Your yard would have to be very big to grow enough to power your car though. Not enough space on earth for all cars to be running ethanol, from what i've heard.
  14. He is right though. Only thing that's done is bad. Non motoring public support for restarting easternats, building a new venue etc. will have practically gone to 0 now.
  15. Airtrain into Roma street station (middle of city basically), then head down to the busway and bus it down the busway (south... don't go the wrong direction) down to holland park. then there's a short/longer walk to get to where your going...Airtrain is a bit expensive, but bus tickets from the city out to hollandpark would only be less than 3 bucks each. Edit: of course, dunno if they'd be running (bus probably would) at 11pm.
  16. Mazda Cosmo's still look good, in a jag ripoff sort of way. Bit rare though.
  17. Yeah, but how much would he have (and how much more responsive would it be) with a decent one?
  18. Carbon tipped? i think you'll find that you might mean tungsten carbide..
  19. Or sell it a buy a gtr. Would be a tad more expensive than doing a similar "upgrade" for a 32 or 33 of course.
  20. Yeah, might need to find a replacement one in a thousand years time when it finally wears I also agree, its annoying when at fault people get pissed off. Last night i was heading out to viccy point in my drover and came upto a roundabout (they can't get enough bloody roundabouts out that way), car coming from the other way without an indicator swung around right so i stopped hardish, my rear left wheel must have been on some gravel (or i need to look at my brakes), because it started to lock up a little. I managed to stop in time to avoid hitting this moron, however the girl in the passenger seat gave me a death stare as they drove past. God i hate roundabouts. On the way home (at night) i had some arsehole sitting behind me with what i think were his hibeams on. Either way, they were annoyingly bright.
  21. Or the converse, people who won't take a turning lane even when they could drive a frigging truck through. Shits me off to no end aswell.
  22. As of a year or so back.
  23. There's an internation cams motokhana champion ship ever year. was QLD a few years back, NSW 09 and vic this year i think. They're good fun, either type.
  24. Ride a bike. No, not because you drive the car less, so you lose weight and have less to push around. Of course, that's not going to have a huge effect. Optimum speed is probably going to be 60-80km/h
