New Zealand Grey Imports a thing of the past?
T0nyGTSt replied to Rezz's topic in General Automotive Discussion
I'm absolutely sure that a '96 dual airbagged, ABS S2 Skyline is much nicer place to be in a big crash than say... a '03 Hyundai Accent? What do you reckon??? And 81dB noise level is ridiculous. Many non performance vehicles stock from the factory would not pass. T. -
AFP announced NATS blitz starts today 7/1

I get the feeling the pollies do not want the 'honour' of hosting the Summernats in their fair territory... T. -
which bar is lower..GTR or 400R?
T0nyGTSt replied to firebladejr's topic in R Series (R30, R31, R32, R33, R34)
From my gut, you're right. The GT-R is slightly higher but in this case, you're talking about aftermarket copies and they'll all vary a bit. If you're a hopeless driver like many of us stay with m-spec or even s-spec. T. -
$700+ for a gauge kit... I don't think even Nismo charge that much LOL Even in Japan 55,000 yen is a fair chuck of change. T.

Even for the fine folks in Cabramatta, this is one shocking post. A T78 is a big turbine and requires manifolds, gates and a hell of a lot of support parts to make it work reliably. Oh and do you like boost starting at the high 4,000/low 5,000 rpm? T.

Well, it's American... most people complain that you can't get it here T. -

I'm sure you can find redline for under USD$40. http://www.redlineoil.com It's one of your products! T. -
What lubricant for R33 RB25DET Gearbox

Search for "Redline" here. Redline Shockproof Lightweight or Castrol VMX80. T. -
The weight is inconsequential. I held my triple core in my hands and it's not heavy (maybe more than 5kg but less than 10kg). T.

Think about this. Car has a steel body/turret. Guards are alloy. Therefore the factory has to actually weld two panels that have dissimilar makeup. Then there's the bog and paint. From the factory! It's a big job and not worth it on a GTS. T.

my review on a stock airbox vs pod
T0nyGTSt replied to franks's topic in General Automotive Discussion
Cos that's shit Nah I got a box on mine and I reckon it's not better than the standard airbox. T. -
That looks exactly the same as my S1 in fiberglass composite. btw. what is that FMIC you got there TK4150? See how it curls around like an ARC. T.

AFAIK every radiator recore done for less than $500 is a brass or something. If you want to pay double that you can get a Trust or Koyo race type in polished alloy. The standard one is alloy but the replacements are better. I have a triple core in mine. T.

White Enkei Rims 4 Sale going CHEAP!!!
T0nyGTSt replied to pushead's topic in For Sale (Private Car Parts and Accessories)
16 x 7 is the most likely size. I only seen the 16 x 8 on the 32 GT-R. btw. work out freight outside of Melb. - it's quite expensive. T. -
When your 25 starts a knockin.......
T0nyGTSt replied to GTRgeoff's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
I honestly think we need to knock up a manual of sorts. Meggala has laid the groundwork already. The above list has spelled things out as a how to make 230rwkW. The only thing needed is perhaps a turbo selection guide, maybe a rebuild section, suspension guide (which Sydneykid has spelled out elsewhere) and perhaps a "Sump Baffle Syndrome" user warning (!!!) T. -
Lots and lots of places carry Bosch Motorsport products, UAS, Autobarn, Repco, you name it. Getting them installed competantly is another. T.

Could you PM me the contact details? I'd be interested even if it's in Penrith T.

SAU have sponsored a course with Aaron McGill. It was a three day course over a few months and it was several hundred dollars. I think it's a good idea but I think it'll be hard for SAU. Undoubtedly everyone here thinks they're a kickass driver so it'll be a balance between making sure it's not too preachy but hopefully it's not a skidpan day type pissfarting around session. T.

Training does work despite what the research shows. You rarely see any instance where additional training is not beneficial. Yet you see research that shows that advanced driver training may cause higher accident rates (overconfidence etc.) Yet training for motorcycles has been great for lowering accident rates! How come it's not the same for cars? I think because motorcyclists are a minority and the accident rates for this group was very high. It is not feasible economically and practically train or retrain the entire driving community. And the benefits aren't so apparent as slapping in more cameras. You can see that the increase in mobile cameras over the break. How many were in real accident areas? All I saw were cameras on dead straight three lane roads where maximum revenue could be attained. What Do You Think Of The V35 Skyline Coupe?
T0nyGTSt replied to Rezz's topic in R Series (R30, R31, R32, R33, R34)
There's an R34 with a twin turbo VQ motor conversion (Top Secret from memory). There's plenty of space to the sides and front (obviously) for turbos and FMIC respectively. You would expect this due to the fact that the nose of the 34 is big enough to hold the RB. I was surprised there was enough room between the towers for the twin N1 turbos. T. -
Forgive me if I'm a bit confused but the way HKS works is the 2000 series, the 3000 series, then the T04, then the T51 series. ie. the 2835 is the largest of the 2000, the 3037/3040 is the ext. wastegate models and then it's the T04. So... Isn't the T04 incredibly large for the RB20/25 series? T.

http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/sh...?t=29207&page=2 I think Sydneykid spells out a good guide. What is the Garrett equivalent of the GT2530? With the good responses with the 2530 we've already seen (~230rwkW) I don't know what else is better suited. T.

What Do You Think Of The V35 Skyline Coupe?
T0nyGTSt replied to Rezz's topic in R Series (R30, R31, R32, R33, R34)
I think it's sorta like this. I think the V35 is a nice car in the same way that the Z33 is a nice car. But both these cars are perhaps a tad 'diluted' in concept and design compared to their predeccessors. That's ok. I think the intended target audience for the Z33/V35 has aged a bit. Styling is personal I suppose and I think everyone complains about common styling themes but in what is supposed to be a flagship design... "me too" styling doesn't cut it. At $70,000 for a Z33 and I would imagine something like $100,000+ for a V35... what do people really want? A Series 2 R34 GT-R? A Series 3 R33 GT-R? Even an RX8? You might say that we're all pretty young here with slightly more hard edged aspirations than the z33/v35. T. -
favourite stock colour for the r32gtr
T0nyGTSt replied to junkie13's topic in R Series (R30, R31, R32, R33, R34)
I'm not one for flamboyant colours - won't be seeing me at queen street! I kinda like plain colours. You've all seen those worked white Skylines from the big Japanese houses - Top Secret, Mines etc. They look pretty damn good don't they? Also I think Rosso Corsa Red Skylines are rare. That burgundy red is common but I think only the 32 came in a Ferrari red. I always found that a bit strange as that red is a definite for most sporting marques - not Skylines though... T. -
What Do You Think Of The V35 Skyline Coupe?
T0nyGTSt replied to Rezz's topic in R Series (R30, R31, R32, R33, R34)
I'm not a big fan of V6 motors - I think V8's and inline sixes are the way things out to be in an ideal world (throw v10's and v12's also if you exotics). We have yet to see how the twin turbo six performs but so far it looks like the current motors are a little 'pedestrian' compared to the RB series. I like to think of it this way. Mercedes went to V6 and no one cared. Who really cares about how Mercs are powered. They're generally not enthusiasts. How would BMW lovers feel if the M3 went to a V6? Or that the Porsche 911 goes to a V6? The Skyline is at least as iconic as the M3 if not the 911 and the inline six was a part of that. I'm sure if I'd feel as bad if they decided to go all N/A V8. The Z series is V6. The S series is inline four. The R series is what? v6? As a whole I don't mind the shape of the z33/v35. I do mind that it's shared with the Maxima and I do mind that they seem to think they are BMW and can have a 'family' resemblence. I do mind the 'minor' details. The tail-lights are gay - why don't they make the LED's run around in circles as well to complete the gay effect? Why do they use the same wrapover lights treatment as Honda, Toyota, Mitsubishi et.al. It reminds me of the current Magna! T.
