  1. Bloody scary too! A mate of mine was baled up in a toilet by one while on holidays in FNQ. Reckoned it was after his toes! (Wearing thongs)
  2. Terrible shame to hear about your misfortune, but as others have said, could have been much worse (probably not much comfort at the moment). Looks like you took a big hit, try not to spend too much time doing "what if's"; not your fault, some things can't be avoided. Hope insurance doesn't keep you waiting too long. Regards, Dale
  3. Nice one dude, stealth as f##k! Now for the wheels!
  4. I'd believe that. I think lots of people imagine flashing a knife at someone is going to be like the scene in Crocodile Dundee, and the baddie's will run away, leaving you looking like a hero. The reality is often VERY different. Lying in an empty carpark, writhing in agony, with your own knife sticking out of your abdomen, bleeding to death, would be a very sad way to die.
  5. I used to think like this, but have changed my mind. Having a weapon to "keep me safe" is a huge can of worms. The problem with this sort of thing is, unless you are well versed in the use of said weapon, in a pressure situation it could easily end up in the hands of your attacker. Much better that no one carries weapons, i.e. knives, and those that do; regardless of their intent, are treated extremely harshly, i.e MASSIVE fines for possesion, and MANDATORY jailterms if you use one. If no one carries knives; no hot head can lose his cool and stab someone, "He said something to my mate so I cut him". Knives do so much damage, think carefully before you carry one. That said, why carry a Swiss Army Knife? The penalties are the same, regardless of the blade, why not have a 7" blade, with a proper grip. Do some damage instead of "Back off punk, or I'll cut you with my, hang on, while I pull out the blade, nope, that's the magnifying glass, hang on, nope, thats the scissors, ahh f##k! .
  6. A Rad specialist will remove the heat exchanger (by removing the plastic end tank) and installing it in your new rad (by cutting the tank off the rad & then welding it back on) this is no big deal, the tanks have to be welded on in the first place. They then pressure test to check for leaks. With the original heat exhanger in the rad, you will bring the fluid to it's operating temperature faster, and by adding an additional external cooler, you can shed any excess heat: down to the operating temp of the car (80 odd degrees). Only having an external cooler, you cannot control how cool the fluid runs, only how hot, this is less than ideal.
  7. A wise man once said; "Forgiveness is easier to obtain than permission."
  8. Bash that ride height down, they'll kick arse!
  9. Should be a pretty safe bet .
  10. You'll likely find it's just a heat exchanger in the bottom tank of the radiator, not really enough under duress. PWR do some good kits, and I've been told the Repco trans cooler kit is just a re-branded PWR. You should be able to sort a large one (look for one labelled V8) for less than $150. If the VQ35 is anything like the VQ25det, it may have a water to oil heat exchanger, this is mounted behind the oil filter, and has fluid lines running into it. The big one may be the need to upgrade the radiator itself, a PWR custom rad will cost around the $850 mark, expensive, but cheaper than an engine if you plan to lean on it regularly. As an aside, the RE05A box fitted to the NM35 Stagea (yours is a variant of this, I believe) blocks oil flow to the cooler circuit when in tiptronic mode. You may want to do a little research to see if yours does this also.
  11. Perhaps too used to fitting chromies to VL commodores?
  12. This is what I run. Awesome eh?
  13. Bbenny is running 8.5x 19" + 22 iirc. I'm running 18x8" +30 with plenty of clearance. Hold off selling until you have your lowered suspension fitted. Camber changes everything.
  14. Really? Is that at standard height? As you lower the car, the tops will tuck in a surprising distance. I thought Chris (spoolin'12) was running 19x9.5 +35 (or 18x9.5 +35); and his sit inside the guards.
  15. +1 for BC's. I've been running BR's in my Stagea for 9 odd months now, well finished, no rattles, brilliant ride, not harsh, just controlled. A huge amount of damping & height adjustment. Very impressive for the dollars.
  16. This may be the case most of the time, in my partners situation, they were presented with all the facts, I did all the running around, and they did everything within their power to make life difficult. All for $600! I'm fairly sure there's nothing in the PDS about being abused by staff and outright lying. That said; I've had extremely good experiences with other insurers. Unfortunately the bad experiences are the ones you remember most. I wasn't looking to start an argument, just illustrate an extreme example of what they're capable of. Regards, Dale.
  17. If your brother wasn't charged for this offence, it didn't occur. Only FACTS are relevant, not OPINIONS from "directors". Put your request in writing, preferably in an email (they can't deny that they have recieved it) once they have to start putting their BS in writing, you may find they change their tune.
  18. Great stuff Jeremy, your brother has a legitimate claim, glad he wasn't hurt. I wish you luck, at least he has someone smart to help him. Cheers, Dale.
  19. Considering this person was supposed to be apologizing for the poor treatment she'd already received, I felt it was a complete lost cause at this point. And after the earful I unloaded on this weasel (I was listening to the conversation silently on the speaker) I wouldn't be surprised if he packed his desk & left. Also why you should record conversations. Lesson learnt. Apologies for thread hijack.
  20. Insurance companies will try almost anything to avoid paying out. Understand that this is their primary objective and you will save hours of heartache. My partner's fully insured car was hit as she drove into an intersection by car that had run a red light. Her car sustained in excess of $10000 damage. We had two independent witnesses, and the other driver admitted fault to the poilce at the scene. IMPORTANT NOTE;The two cars were both insured by THE SAME INSURANCE COMPANY I spent the next 12 weeks, ringing the insurance company EVERY day, to find out why the insurance company thought my partner was at fault. Excuses like; "We don't take traffic lights into account, when attributing blame" WTF? "We're not obliged to talk to your witnesses" How can you get an independent account if you don't? "The other driver has been with us for 40 years" So what! "We can't get a copy of the police report" Oh yes you can... And then from one charming employee; supposedly a department supervisor, who had been ordered to call my partner to apologise for her appalling treatment "Why don't you just pay the f##king excess you stupid b##ch!" This was the day we were to pick the car up from the panel beater, so we'd have to pay excess otherwise he wouldn't release the vehicle. Unbeknownst to the insurance company, I had ordered a copy of the police report, It showed the other driver had been charged with negligent driving at the scene. He had obviously lied to the insurer and they were happy to accept the lie. At no point during the whole sorry affair did I speak to the same person twice, and had to start from the begginning EVERY time. This is to wear you down, to make you give up. Do not give up, document EVERYTHING, record telephone conversations, email documents to them, so you have a provable train of documentation do not EVER leave the scene without a reference number or a card from the police (just ask them they'll happily give you one). You can beat these people at their game you just need to stay the course. Do not give them one dollar if you don't have to. Happily, we didn't pay the excess, nor do we insure with these bloodsucking cowboys any longer. We now insure with an excellent insurer. Good luck.
  21. I'm surprised too, they are such a nice looking wheel, and the +30 offset is perfect on an RX or RS.
  22. Cars that tidy sell themselves, well done.
  23. What model pulsar, what size are the std wheels, what width are the mags? Offset is only useful if you know how wide the wheel is.
  24. Airflow meter? Hope you get it sorted quickly.
  25. So, yeah like I said; at least. Some people go for that extreme stretch, personally, I don't like it. I'm running 245's on an 8" rim, but I ran 245's on my last set of 9" rims and they sat just proud of the rim edge, so on a 9.5" they would've been level, which is why I said that. Also, after seeing Bbenny's 19x 8.5" Enkeis, with 225's (which I would've though were too narrow) looking spot on, an inch wider with another 20mm of tyre, would be about right. Just one man's opinion. Anyhoo, back to the show.
