  1. In the past I have sourced "hard to find" items for cars that I've had painted, given the reciepts to the repairer and have been reimbursed. As long as you have a guarantee from the repairer, it should work out fine. I have an excellent relationship with my repairer, I'm happy to do the running around if it will save him time, and he gives me a better deal.
  2. +1 on the insurance company, they must repair to original standard, not just whatever is "easiest" for them... Jeez, at that price I need to get one of these, get rid of the "smiley face" .
  3. Just seems to be a contingent that keep going "blah blah from such and such, says blah, so why would a dump pipe do anything?" There's a crapload of evidence that says a dump pipe is seven shades of awesome; so why argue, just benefit from the research & investment of others. Never once seen a dump pipe on a factory car that couldn't be improved on.
  4. [quote name='iamhe77' date='26 Oct 2010, 10:23 AM' post= Dale, you definitely do NOT want to do exactly what Craig has done, mate. Touche Cam.
  5. Well said Craig, f##ks me why people want to keep re-inventing the wheel... Why believe anyone who's done EXACTLY what you're gonna do? What would they know anyway?
  6. I think mine charged me for 3.5 hrs.
  7. Cheers, Dale EDIT, bah! Andy beat me. Can you see the pattern forming?
  8. Possibly not the best way to get yourself out debt?
  9. Spot on! Definitely worth the wait, bet you're glad you didn't sell them now.
  10. I've not heard that, they certainly don't look the same, all my Kinchrome are satin finish, whereas Sidchrome is all polished finish, so I doubt they're made in the same factory. That, and I quite like the Kinchrome screwdrivers, with the rubber grips & shotpeened tips, mine get a hiding, nearly 10 years down the track, they're like new. I think it's great that apprentices get the "Tools For Trade" allowance, I remember being constantly broke from buying tools. And beer...
  11. Getting there... Man, those front mudflaps are going to be temporary, at best. Not much clearance now, although your 19's should help them out a bit. Roll on tommorrow eh?
  12. PM me if you like.
  13. I would part the car out before considering an insurance job. In fact, I'd set my head alight, before I considered an insurance job. They look at finance when investigating, not worth the trouble. They're hard enough to deal with already, don't volunteer for a shafting. Hope you sell quickly. Cheers, Dale
  14. My RS came with a single DIN Clarion, above it is a single din set of gauges; Volts, Torque Split & Boost. With both of these removed you could go double din, I just fitted a single din Pioneer with ipod connectivity & bluetooth, and kept my gauges.
  15. Now that's funny! How would you not notice the lack of water underneath the hull, as you pushed your boat off the trailer? Might need to spend some time at the boat ramp...
  16. Looks like he's bang on the line with a walkway. How close to a Magna would you park?
  17. Bought my M35 through Nagoya, Alex & Dmitri are good to deal with, they even threw in a towbar when we were negotiating. No issues with the car so far; almost 2 yrs later. Northshore Prestige are good too, a lot of the Sydney guys (and several interstate buyers) have bought through them; very good reputation.
  18. Good morning for spotting; blue C34 with a silver front bar, turning onto Epping rd 6:30am, and a silver c34 on the m4 this morning around 7:15am!
  19. Sidchrome trade on a reputation built many years ago, a reputation that was backed by quality tools. The quality of Sidchrome is not what it used to be, but you still pay a premium for the name. There are better quality tools available for the same spend; Kinchrome is one of them, JBS is also another. Not a bad choice, but there are always better deals to be had. My advice; since you are an apprentice, when you work with good tradies, look at what they use, and follow their lead. Quality tools will be with you for life, shite ones will be in the bin.
  20. I also get the shunt when going from park. Seems more noticeable with front wheels turned. I'm pretty sure others have it too.
  21. Yeah, bucketloads more torque in the midrange, there's heaps more with my new exhaust, so this is just the cherry, on the icing, on the cake . Only had about 40km of diving so far, I'll be driving to work tonight; that'll be a better test. Jetwreck's your man, but I don't know if he has any left .
  22. Yeah , once I had the torch I wasn't worried, but when it happened... NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!! Must be a visit to the drags on the cards pretty soon.
  23. A tense moment while I was getting the torch, let me tell you... Could NOT believe I'd done it. "The Claw" FTW! Enjoy that new turbo!
  24. Finally fitted my plenum spacer today, jeebus! What a difference! Thanks Andy & Craig for the comprehensive kit, went together like a dream (and Cam for the original legwork). And in keeping with my "If you're gonna do something stupid; you might as well tell everone" policy; I cleverly dropped one of the replacement studs down No.1 intake port ! Minor heart attack, grabbed the torch, it's sitting about an inch out of reach. "The Claw"to the rescue , what a dope... lol
