  1. lol @ driving around the streets in 1st gear, with R34 gearing just to get the car to move because 2nd is not useful...
  2. ^ and the key point to that - they both removed their GT-RS's
  3. Not 1000rpm, closer to 500-700rpm But the thing you cannot see on a dyno sheet, and you can feel on the street - how they pickup in between gears, on/off throttle etc which is what i keep saying.
  4. Have a read/search of the main FI section. You'll see they are a surgy/laggy mess for the power they make. Totally mis-matched like the HKS 2540 of old. 470rwkw+ you ain't going to get outta stock appearance low mount setup Only way is the GTX turbos, but its pretty obvious they aren't factory then and you might as well have a big single. Just add a shot of nitrous if you wanna race it or whatever.
  5. You do realise it is a modified motor, and therefore illegal - be it N/A or turbo makes no difference.
  6. I've posted that comparo before, 6-7 on the same graph. The -9 and -5 look very similar on paper response wise, go and drive them however you soon see there is much the dyno does not tell.
  7. So you picked up nearly 50rwkw from a tune and some boost... And you still have a stock cat/dump as you've stated. If you swap those out you might make another 10-15rwkw. Sounds about right to me. Results in the dyno thread will have proper dumps and hiflow cats etc.
  8. Is event 15 part of scoring?
  9. It is documented in the Issues Register thread: http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/topic/397433-sau-32-issues-register-updated-1204-1900/ Closing this, once resolved the Issue thread will be updated
  10. And I totally agree with you Indeed - I like to give it a solid drive on weekends & also motorkhana/hillclimbs. I must say @ Circuit Battle last year (Thunderdome) the -5s were good, speeds of 180km/h were seen so stands to reason the performed really well. If it was just a pure street car and you weren't interested in 1/4 mile then -9s without a doubt. More response off the lights, less needing to rev the knackers out of it. -9s go alright for what they are and make for nice driving experience when around town, combine with a big GTR 7000rpm launch they are no slouch. You've got a built motor so run 20-23psi through them in the midrange. They will drop off to ~18psi by 7500rpm and you'll be looking to shift. They do come on nicely by 3400rpm though so it's a nice broad range.
  11. What state are you in? The best way to find out is checking your local state's event section
  12. http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/topic/393705-tein-or-bc-for-my-s2-r33-gts-t/ http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/topic/397889-suspension-to-firm/
  13. Problem is - he is in Melb. You need an arsehole that can take a firehydrant if the cops pull him over with that, and the likelyhood given how things are down here ATM is highly likely... It's basically engine out, install stock motor and then re-reg with a different motor & start again. Fark that. As Paul said look into the GTX lowmounts if you want stock-ish appearance, but the custom piping will mean it's really quite obvious. Do not go near the -10s/GT-RS. Worst turbos you can possibly buy. I cannot think of one user who has taken them off, and regretted doing so - that's how bad they are. Hate to say it but if you want to have a stock appearance about as much as you'll make is 400-440rwkw with HKS 2530s, and when I say stock, it'll look 100% factory.
  14. Oh what the f**k... the other states get HD and the 3 main ones do not?
  15. Yet I don't like the -5s for the simple reason of just how much more responsive the -9s were All comes down to personal choice. If i have a 2.8 - no question -5s are the choice. I have no doubt in my mind a -9 equipped GTR is faster in the hills as it's simply easier to drive. The roads i go on i know well, and my car is very well sorted. With -5s the car is a handful to really enjoy. Even doing Mt Baw Baw earlier in the year, -9s would have made the car much faster. With -5s you need to drop 2 gears all the time to get it to at least 4500-5000pm and you have to ring 8000rpm all the time, you fall off boost soon as you are off throttle and so on. The -9 are up and moving almost as soon as you touch the throttle and there is next to no between gear lag and you never need to drop back that extra gear. Linear power does feel "boring" and hence i changed to -5s, and it is certainly fun to drive from a top end perspective in a straight line - but realistically unless you are over 140km/h the -5s are pointless... And 140+ is instant impound...
  16. We were looking to bring back subscription packages (like we used to have years ago). But with Christian out of action for quite a while I would say it won't occur this side of June, probably Jul/Aug before they are brought back at the earliest
  17. Not really, just re-drill some holes. If you search this section someone posted up a DIY. I think it was GTRSean
  18. I drive my car once a week. I still would prefer to have the -9s on it. Either -9s or go much bigger like a T04Z and make 440rwkw+ with a stroker. When i do fire the car up - it is to go for a run in the twisties, or take it to a club motorkhana day and what have you - why would i take it out just to drive @ 60km/h in traffic or on the fwy when most speed are 110km/h in the best of places. Simply cannot use the top end unless you head to a circuit to play in the 200km/h zone. Either way - hurry up and decide. Talking about it for months gets you nowhere.
  19. Ah there is one person in the thread, everyone else hasn't had an issue. Not sure how that is a even split.
  20. When you are a sponsor - then you can post. Not before as everyone is subject to approval first - and not everyone gets it.
  21. No difference really, same same for the sake of the matter. You can chip a R33 ECU, it's just not easy and not really cost effective.
  22. Yep that's just what i did
  23. Tuning does without a doubt play a part. That said, I've had two -9 setups no surge on a 2.6 My -5s on 2.6 will surge ONLY on a 4-8 degree morning in the hills, loaded up in 5th @ about 2300rpm from what i can remember. basically such a rare occurrence it doesn't bother me.
  24. I think someone did 360rwkw, but it's never been repeated (or confirmed). Common is 320-330rwkw realistically and what people should expect. +1 to comments thus far. I'm kinda sick of getting PM's about the same topic & questions
  25. Newsletter feedback thread. If you take the time to post, we will take the time to read it and see what we can do Thanks for taking the time to leave feedback, we appreciate it!
