  1. CRD/Racepace/Unigroup/Mercury/Godzilla/XSpeed/RIPS who have all been building RB’s for years and are arguably at the forefront of the development these days in their various areas – are learning on the job? These places are churning out motors by the dozens as well you could safely assume. If anything the Japanese could still be doing the same things they were 5 years ago. Where is the development in that? There most certainly has been development in Australian & NZ over that time. At least here you can see results improve and grow – there is no such information to back up such work from over there really. Now before people start getting excited - I’m not saying the Japs are bad or not as good etc etc. However I think it’s a bit of a stretch to say Aussie workshops can’t do the same quality of work for a similar, if not better price. Personal choice no doubt, for me - it'd go local.
  2. was more so talking about the head, but yeah i know what you mean. could be an expensive experiment
  3. so basically you are buying them anyway? or you already have them? also you are using a different motor, this also can have minor advantage or disadvantage as its not the same as a rb26 etc.
  4. If noone here has used them, how do you expect us to comment? on paper it might be ok, but given its smaller rear, larger front. it might have surge issues in twin form. you'll never know until you get them running. for the sake of a few dollars its going to be nothing more than a gamble. do you like to gamble?
  5. Just keep both. Easier to have a backup set. Although that said you'd have to pick OEM.
  6. As he said - one is RB26, one is SR20. Not really any other way to say that. This is the correct one for the larger "-5" for RB26 http://www.turbobygarrett.com/turbobygarrett/catelog/Turbochargers/GT28/GT2860R_707160_5.htm You'll notice the wheel combo is again, different. I've had both -9s and -5s. For the street, -9 all the way.
  7. lol @ the comment about cutting his dick off haha. gold
  8. You need to get your eyes checked
  9. It is advisable for reasons in the first reply.
  10. In. Remember new place guys - NOT the same as last month. This is the permanent home with a bit of luck. Very nice place with an awesome outdoor 2nd floor decking. Checked it out the other day. Good food too! Elgin Hotel - 75 Burwood Rd
  11. ^ thats because you don't have restrictors in the head and enlarged internal oil returns internally. You do not need external oil drains either way if it's done right.
  12. Change of thread title perhaps?
  13. Thanks for the PM's guys with suggestions - I'm getting quite a few actually which is giving me a lot to think about. It's probably the simplest thing part, yet the hardest to pick...
  14. 600hp is not 400rwkw. It's less than that! r33racer, guilt-toy have all made what 370-380rwkw on a GT35 - that's smack on 600hp IMO. A T04Z will do 440rwkw on good boost which you'd say would be in the 700's somewhere.
  15. Video link gives you a very good idea of what to expect etc. It'll be similar no doubt far as I'm aware.
  16. More of a problem on a turbo car as there is more heat due to the turbo etc.
  17. Typical old junket turbo. A smaller 3071 would be on at least 500rpm sooner for the same power.
  18. Good thing he will have lots of oil flow - but good to lube up ones bottom.
  19. Plenty of turbos from the 1980's that are oil cooled only There is no issue with it. Bush bearing turbos run much larger oil flow/galleries etc. So heat is removed that way.
  20. That's almost as helpful as me saying "music"
  21. Yep - that's what i said to him. He is traditionally a wedding videographer type but is branching out and trying to go for a different feel. He's done mainly old classic/vintage stuff and sorta wants to move up in age/type and get a feel from people in that regard. So obviously the "norm" with most turbo imports is drags/drift/high speed kinda stuff with the car in action. This is more sorta people that are cars nuts with more about the personal side of it. Hence music is a bit harder. it's easy to put classic/vintage to a certain genre of music. Imports etc kinda make it a bit trickier. As a side point I'm trying organise a discount for SAU-Vic should anyone want something like that done for themselves
  22. 26 rods need 26 pistsons. They are fine on a 25 crank Exactly what i had in my 25
