  1. lol someone watched it. I don't know why but emos and wrxs dont launch anywhere near as well as the gtr, wet or dry. I made 6 spots off the start in race 3
  2. hmmm interesting timing.....might be a good chance for me too
  3. yep right line - so unless your gauge is not working you have a fuel pressure problem. are the lines connected correctly to the car, ie does A go to the fuel filter?
  4. yeah mine matches type 2 (on the assumption 1 is dead stock, 2 is 3E, 3 is 3J, 4 is 3D). It has shocks, springs, ECU, radiator. I just don't get why the classes are such a lottery. And not jsut sprints but elsewhere as well. Why not stick to the same consistent rules to help cross discipline entrants? One other thing I don't understand, and supersprints are not alone - why on earth do NSW racing, sprint and hillclimb fall on the same weekend so often? It stops entrants across disciplines, reduces the available officals, and means neil can't fix my car for me
  5. hmm I will turn it over when I pull the motor....but I don't remember any slots. Bad news if it does have them because it leaks like a sieve.....will be harder to fix. Might simply not be flat as well, we will check it and mill it if necessary
  6. good to see they went to the trouble - who made that one?
  7. no, not sure exactly what it is....only that it clearly is not right. And now that I have mentioned I have had people coming out of the woodwork with the same issue will follow up with the maker though pretty sure no real damage was done, we will check the bearings while the motor is out but should be OK. and funnily enough....I just bought a cube to use as a daily while the march is off the road getting a forged motor...guess it's going to be busy for a while.
  8. well not really. we are going to pull the plate out and machine some grooves into it for sealant (factory sump has this, 3l adaptor plate does not). also....its just a daily not a race car. it will never spend 15min at 6000rpm like it does on the dyno, fingers crossed it will be ok....but I will be struggling to have it back on the road by xmas
  9. interesting you should mention mocomm. apparently that is what most of my competitors are using. http://www.motorsportcommunication.com/default.html $2500 for 2 hand held cbs and some wires? I am genuinely looking for reliable and easily installed....but that seems about twice what it is worth. Similar setup $700 from ebay US: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAP...RK%3AMEWAX%3AIT
  10. almost killed mine. was running hard on the dyno being tuned when oil pressure light came on. investigation underneath shows hge leak from the sump. it appears the proengines 3l adapter plate expands at a different rate to the block, resulting in the sealer breaking and a major leak. motor out to fix the sump
  11. Surprised this thread doesn't exist yet. I am looking to redo the comms in the race/rally car, and can't find a lot of local info like what I am doing. My current setup is terraphone between driver and nav. had it for a few years and still works ok. but doesn't have the extras i am looking for. What I want is: Good quality driver to nav incar comms. Output from incar comms to video camera via simple AV cable. Preferably with seperate volume control Output from incar comms (driver) to uhf radio with PTT button. Good power for long hilly tracks like bathurst. Reliable and simple. Hardwired rather than battery powered if possible. Who is using what, and who is hapy or not. I guess mostly rally incar users here which I'm not so worried about, would love to hear from anyone who has car to pit comms working well.
  12. Re factory balancing, I think nissan just make stuff the same in the first place (unlike the yanks ). Plenty of people replace flywheel and balancer without resulting balance problems Re ECU, the auto one is a little sensitive to change (ie goes rich very quick compared to skyline with mods) but the only real difference in the auto is it retards timing on auto gear changes. Since it will never get that signal again there are no problems. Ash Josh mentioned I had heaps of pinout trouble with my ECU. so be careful if you change to aftemarket one. starter is same same. no issues. Re wiring, I doubt you will have the auto cutout wiring issue since you have gts4 body loom. Probably a bit of stuffing around ahead matching stagea engine loom to gts4 body loom but I'm sure you are up to it
  13. well....turns out I don't need to flares, mine came with them. this is the new car. I need suggestions on a 3 digit/letter plate....because HGE 80X gives the wrong impression about my wife. Need another suggestion HGE xxx for this car to join HGE 32R, HGE 70W and HGE 10L
  14. BTW, the conditions on my rego are: Used to get to or from CAMS events (ie not AASA) Used to get to or from mechanic for mechanical work Used to get to or from practice. I use 2 and 3 a lot. I call AASA events practice for CAMS events. Phone call required to the CAMS rally rego number every day it is used, about $4 each day in phone charges. Rego is under $100 including greenslip. No pink slip, just owner certification of roadworthiness
  15. Hi n00b. My car is still under the old rally rego, but that scheme was shut to new cars because every dodgy f**ker imported cars then registered cars under it without compliance. The current scheme will only allow cars which are compete in dirt rally events, and you can be sure that the CAMS rally guys will not allow it to be extended to cover any other car in case they lose access to it again. I am talking with CAMS state manager to represent the tarmac rally/club racer with an import group arguing we should be allowed back on the scheme....but expect it to be a long process. In other words....no chance in the near future.
  16. today was an absolute flamin mongrel of a day. we removed 1kg/hr each. better be f**king worth it
  17. me too you never did this right? watanabe and overfenders sounds perfect.
  18. damn straight 33 has a speed limiter....I spent literally hours a day on it when I lived in the NT....192 = game over. no sign of mods on Neil's car but something was done. the loom neil mentioned had a heap of functions and non-nissan parts, so I bet my left one it was done by the compliers. It included dash dimmer, new headlight resisters and relays and side indicator repeaters....as long as some other stuff I missed. Maybe it was the speed cut as well (I'll lol if Neil comes back from the first session swearing about a speed limiter!). All gone now, as is the alarm, cruise control, airbag etc. some quiet day we will remove the wires not required from the dash and body looms too
  19. Chris, post 55! The first type is the one I have, but it's overkill for wheel nuts, more for engine building. I just picked it up cheap. For wheel nuts just pick up a spring type one, they reset automatically between use so are more convenient as well as cheaper. Also post 20 made me lol
  20. lol. I have to upspec (significantly) if I want to be competitive at Targa! Not sure what category you want to race in....if you want more mods than Targa under CAMS race rules it will be sports sedans. They are idiots Don't fall for that trick...he's never actually owned a skyline. He just posts and pretends.
  21. sorry Brian, neither of those responses make sense. The regs say all 4wd turbo cars are in SV. Plenty of 4wd turbos have been sold here in large volumes but are still forced into SV. For that matter, even 32 GTR was sold here! Allegedy protecting some competitors is a very short term view and turns away heaps of potential new entrants in favour of supporting the status quo. Rotaries for instance.....any rx8s racing, or do you mean 20+ yo rx7 and earlier? v8s? same question, how old is the most recent car racing in 3? Any panel that appoints it's own members could not possibly be more closed. None of the registered supersprint competitors I know were canvassed on rule changes, let alone occasional or potential racers.
  22. yeah well that is my point exactly about IPRA rules. someone has to have some guts and welcome turbo cars in. until then your car is a production car (type 2) if it runs standard boost and no mods, or a sports sedan. Brian, I understand, but totally disagree with the decision. Yes some cars are quicker than others in standard form. This is the basis of all production car racing. If you want to win, bring the quickest car. There is currently a full field in the state champs. A very high % of them are in SV which means it is not so special at all. Put them back in the proper classes. Finally....as you are perfectly aware, all of the CAMS advisory panels are closed "clubs" who's membership only changes if someone steps down and someone else is recommended. There are never any genuinely open votes or discussions about whether the member's/entrants needs are considered. These rule changes, and all of them that happen across all of the panels each year, are presented to the entrants AFTER they have been agreed.
  23. here is p2 from the NSW supersprint regs.....try and pick the odd class out: Type 1 Unmodified Production Cars (excluding Four Wheel Drive Turbos, Clubmans, Kit Cars and Replicas), where the only freedoms relate to safety, engine reconditioning, tyres and some cosmetic items. Type 2 Modified Road-Registered Vehicles (excluding Clubmans, Kit Cars and Replicas), allowing originally available options and limited modifications to engines, suspension and tyres. Type 3 Competition vehicles based on Group 3J - Improved Production Cars rules as defined in the CAMS Manual. Minor additional freedoms are allowed to recognise that there will be some road-registered vehicles competing, that cannot meet full 3J rules. Type 4 Competition vehicles based on Group 3D - Sports Sedan rules as defined in the CAMS Manual. In addition, any vehicle that conforms to Type 1, 2, 3 or SV requirements, excepting Clubmans, Kit Cars and Replicas, shall be permitted to employ or use Race Tyres but if it does so it shall be classified as a Type 4 vehicle. Type 5 Clubmans, Kit Cars and Replicas (whether Road Registered or not) using Race Tyres, Racing Cars and Sports Racing Cars or as classified by the NSW Supersprint Panel. Type SV Road registered vehicles with no limit on modifications. -------------------- Apart from putting all 4wd turbo in SV which is obvious, outdated bullshit, the categories otherwise make great sense until you get to SV. Dead standard, production car, improved production, sports sedans, then cars with slicks. But how does a category called SV make any sense at all. "Road registered vehicles with no limit on modifications." wtf?
  24. unfortunately nsw are far from the only place having trouble with rules. the classes for the national supersprints were bullshit. I didn't get an opportunity to defend the production car national championship, let alone my car having to race in the same class as a supercharged lotus. and don't even get me started on how old fashioned and unfriendly the IPRA rules are for any turbo car. CAMS have long had their heads stuck up their collective arses about rules - protecting a few old rust buckets instead of encouraging new cars. you only need to look at any IPRA grid in the country to see the result.
