  1. I was wrong. Race 2 no footage, car fogged up like crazy....best lap was a 2.17 and I was getting smashed. Race 3, lap 1:
  2. This weekend's races from Eastern Creek Race 1, Lap 1. rained just after the race....I thought I wanted a wet track
  3. btw looked like lofty had a crap weekend results wise...but still took the IPRA championship? If so, well done!
  4. well that was a hell of a day today. I've done some damp track laps before, but this was racing in the pissing down raining. I learned a lot, went 7 seconds faster in race 3 than my best in race 2. overall results were lousy, 8th and 9th, but it was brilliant fun. the car was rubbish in the wet...the commodores were clearly quicker. not sure if it was just tyres or something more, but I was nowhere. evil_chris...working oni the vids now. nothing from race 2 because the whole damn car was fogged up, the camera saw the same as me. SFA. turns out shampoo is great for stopping windows fogging up. thanks to Neil and Kel for persevering with helping out in rubbish conditions all weekend
  5. yes they require approval in the DIY section to keep it on track (still lots of people posting random stuff in there despite the forum description being "FYI ONLY!!! DO NOT POST QUESTIONS IN HERE"). I have approved your topic this morning, thanks for posting up nice MSPAINT work too
  6. meh. its the biggest state race meet ever, so no wonder there are some people who think they are more special than everyone else. doesn't worry me, I will focus on what I need to do. it was OK today, very poor qualifying for me (11th) proving how damn quick production cars are going these days. For context, the Pro-duct emo Xs took the production car lap record easily....and even beat the improved production lap record. i just need $100k +$5k per round for tyres (actually they had 12 new ones waiting just for this round) and I will be in one in a flash anyway, I made a few spots during the race which was good, finished 7th. I ran medium tyres as a test but they were not a winner....3 out of 6 laps and they were gooooone.....very poor grip once they overheated. they will be no good for the 8 and 10 lap races tomorrow so I am back to the previous set. fingers crossed for tomorrow. If anyone wants to head out to eastern creek, entry is free (I guess ARDC figured they made enough money from the record entrant numbers). Also this round will be televised on Speed channel in the next month or 3.
  7. indeed...but auto only. also the location of the driveshafts is unlikely to be anywhere near the right place. better idea.....buy a rb30 block for a case of beer, put a 3.4l stroker crank in it. heaps of cubes but none of the don't fit problems.
  8. surely. an accident is an accident of course they will do anything they can to avoid paying.....hope the tow bar was engineered.....
  9. hahah you said rubber
  10. cool! Good Luck Reece, Zane and anyone else from SAU heading down!
  11. correct! keep in mind any decent tyre, slick or not is 450-500each. If you get something cheap there will be a reason.
  12. strange attitude considering a club is about like minded people working together on a common interest. Without clubs, who do you think would run events for you? anyway...CAMS is a confederation of clubs, so if you want a CAMS license you must be a current member of one of their clubs. I'm sure you can start your own club for difficult people who like cars. Cost runs to the thousands for incorporation, annual returns, memberships, audits etc.
  13. wellll actually. i have a set of slicks I am about to take off my rims because i need to run semis on them. 2x kumho slicks, used once. excellent condition. 2x falken slicks, well above their wear limiters but very old (past their best). $700 pick up in sydney. they are 240/610/17 which are a little small diameter....but worked fine. I had them on 17x8 rims on a gtr.
  14. yeah I haven't had a chance to call yet either Harry, but will do so regarding standard/production/street cars. will try and remember to ask about restrictors in IPRA too, otherwise my production car will end up in sports sedans which is rubbish. Interesting find there stu.....they really should be following those since they are specific to this and only this event.
  15. sorry Chris, haven't got back to you. I am going to book accomodation and entry after next weekend's round race meet. I'm going to leave and do a few hours thursday night to keen friday's drive nice and short....lots of fuel stops when towing with a stagea then back on Monday.
  16. off to morgan park, eh? will be a road trip not to be missed.
  17. to answer the specific question - yes that is right there is 1 copper washer between each surface. so if it is the bolt meant for that location, it is too long
  18. what is the deal with the VH? condition known? what is included (loom? computer? gearbox?)
  19. Received this email from the organisers of the Festival of Sporting Cars which has run an easter event for the last couple of years: Overwhelmed as I am by the expressions of thanks and support, it has been suggested (but only by one participant to date) that FoSC owes a full explanation of the reasons for our withdrawal from Bathurst. To put it as simply as possible: I am peeved that I am not at liberty to provide the full explanation I would wish you all to have, because so much of the problem is shrouded in the Bathurst Regional Council’s assertions that their communications with us are ‘without prejudice.’ Our legal advice is that this is nonsense, because there are no legal proceedings on foot, and nothing to be ‘prejudiced’ – but we will treat their letters as confidential, at least for the moment. This much I can say: it is plain that, for whatever reason, Bathurst Regional Council does not want our event. It has no problem denying Bathurst businesses the $5.5-million we bring to the city every Easter. It has no problem devaluing the multi-million dollars investment made by government in the circuit, and is perfectly prepared to see it stand idle. The BRC resembles nothing so much as a dog in the manger. You will recall that we negotiated a contract in 2008 that provided for Mercedes Benz to share the hire period and thus underwrite the cost of our inaugural event, to the benefit of all concerned. The then BRC loved it. In 2009, the event was varied by mutual consent – there was no new model launch, and FoSC struggled to pay the astronomical hire fee. This year, the event was another variation – still no third party to share the cost, but the regularity carnival certainly helped us out.   The fatal problem has been that BRC, which has had a remarkable change of heart, still blockheadedly insisted that our contract for 2011 requires us to stage a Mercedes Benz product launch! This, despite the variations of the past two years... words fail me! Have they been asleep for two years? At the heart of the problem is a very vague contract. Although we had been able to function under its terms for three years, there have arisen conflicting interpretations – so we asked BRC, months and months ago, to clarify the ambiguities and uncertainties before we nailed down the 2011 event. They simply won’t do it. The consequence of their intransigence is that we were denied any clear statement as to whether the events we wanted to program for 2011 would be permitted by the controller of the circuit. How could we possibly proceed on that basis? The threat was that we would plan and program certain aspects of the event, accept entries (and money) accordingly, and then be told – literally at the last moment – that BRC considers such elements of the 2011 to be contrary to the agreement. The consequence of that would be financial ruin for FoSC and an outraged paddock full of entrants. To keep faith with you, the participants in FoSC events and the reason for its existence, we had no choice but to accept the legal advice we have been given: that BRC is obviously hell-bent on driving us away from Mt Panorama, and that to become trapped in a will-they-or-won’t-they dragging-out of the contractual negotiations was only going to leave us without any venue or prospect of staging our event next Easter. And we weren’t going to let that happen! We hope to see you all at Eastern Creek. My Best Regards Charles Jardine FoSC Event Director
  20. I have had heaps of work done at powerplay imports over the years, and Ali is one of the most careful and thorough mechanics I know. Just get a fixed price quote up front to avoid potential surprises.

I'm willing to bet either of them are perfectly capable of delivering the $1000 oil change on the gold plated hoist Only their best techs will work on the GTRs, they have learned a lot about performance cars from working on pulsars over the years.
  22. which is why you didn't get to claim the one you won I still haven't taken my navara tshirt or hat off, and I am typing one handed because my navara beer cooler is in the other. My navara will be so proud of me when it gets home from Bathurst tomorrow
  23. damn straight....in fact we got to watch 2 bathursts!
  24. yes, but it is only a production car.....even so it does pull some gs on good tyres. I agree the factory design is among the best out there.....but if you need to do laps on 1/1th of a tank to save 5kg, then you will always need a surge tank.
  25. actually it's the opposite...without the vacuum feed the BOVs will always be open so it will never boost. unless OP means...what if I do all that because I am running some other BOV system...in which case just drop off the vacuum line so there is no leak and off you go!
