yeah, if he was heavy on fuel, bringing him in for a pit stop at that safety car was a bad move. I would have much rather have seen them roll the dice and leave him out.

same with schuey. why didn't they leave massa on track and bring scheuy in, then bring in massa next lap (if still under SC)? I think that desicion may have cost MS this years chamionship as there is no doubt if they had done that, they could have got MS ahead of massa, with alonso in 3rd.

awesome race though, but a shame webber went from 5th to nowhere.

yeah webbers future is looking bleak all 'round. nothing doing for the rest of this year. currently 15th in the championship. driving for a soft drink company next year... it's enough to make you want to cry.

Red Bull were nowhere as well on the weekend. Lets just hope that the lack of development and pace this year translates to a focussed effor ton next years far more competitive car.

Im going to make a prediciton. Webber will be on the podium before the end of the year! Anyone care for a friendly wager?

thats exactly what i was thinking last night. Red Bull seem to be doing as badly as Willams atm... so why change? But maybe Newey and his underlings have written off this years piece of crap mobile, and are soley focused on making a huge leap forward next year

comedian....

nah i fell bad saying that i hope he doesnt pull a podium out of his ass... it somehonw makes me feel un-Australian to bet against him

You might as well make some money in a wager on Webber......at least then he is of some use....next year Webber will be nowhere just like this year

It was another great race, that's 2 in a row now that I have watched entirely. Looks like 'turn 8' let down Schuey all day.

Anyone have any requests of short clips from either qualifying or race?

I would like to see alonso's first few laps as he was off the planet with cold tyres trying to keep up.

Actually the most interesting point (IMHO) is this: Will the big mistake that Schumacher made, ie going off the track in the mid race cost him the world championship.

What I don't understand is why Schumacher didn't back the field up under the safety car before he pitted to allow Massa to get ahead and pit before he got there...at least that way Schumi and Alonso would've pitted at the same time and he would have had a chance to get out ahead of Alonso.

I recall Mclaren doing this a year or so ago with Montoya and Kimi.

In any case, good to see Massa get a win under his belt. He was consistently quick all weekend and deserved his victory.

how cute was he in the drivers interviews... almost in tears.. I thought that was so sweet! ok maybe just a girls point of view :D

on another note my best friend has just moved to Canada and lives in one of the closest houses to the GP circuit... I am so there next year!

Just bought my tickets for the Melbourne F1 as they went on sale this morning (ring Ticketek, cant book on the net without a code).

In the Senna stand on the far right hand side at the front, so can see the last 2 corners and down pit straight, woo!

Anyone else heading down to see first hand what Webber can do in a soft-drink can with wheels?

Sounds like you got yourself in quite the good possie there.

Would love to go but don't think it will happen, That soft drink can with wheels is a very very very very rich man, well he has 2 teams on the grid doesn't he and a shite load of sponsorship everywhere else in the world! Webber will definatly beat DC as the old box jaw is def on his way out!

i will probably be there. got the 'buy some tickets' invite about 4 weeks ago. They always send us one early for the first release. will most likely be in the brabham stand, inside of turn 1.

    • Hi, SteveL Thank you very much for your reply, you seem to be the only person on the net who has come up with a definitive answer for which I am grateful. The "Leak" was more by way of wet bubbles when the pedal was depressed hard by a buddy while trying to gey a decent pedal when bleeding the system having fitted the rebuilt BM50 back in the car, which now makes perfect sense. A bit of a shame having just rebuilt my BM50, I did not touch the proportioning valve side of things, the BM50 was leaking from the primary piston seal and fluid was running down the the Brake booster hence the need to rebuild, I had never noticed any fluid leaking from that hole previously it only started when I refitted it to the car. The brake lines in the photo are "Kunifer" which is a Copper/Nickel alloy brake pipe, but are only the ones I use to bench bleed Master cylinders, they are perfectly legal to use on vehicles here in the UK, however the lines on the car are PVF coated steel. Thanks again for clearing this up for me, a purchase of a new BMC appears to be on the cards, I have been looking at various options in case my BM50 was not repairable and have looked at the HFM BM57 which I understand is manufactured in Australia.
    • Well the install is officially done. Filled with fluid and bled it today, but didn't get a chance to take it on a test drive. I'll throw some final pics of the lines and whatnot but you can definitely install a DMAX rack in an R33 with pretty minor mods. I think the only other thing I had to do that isn't documented here is grind a bit of the larger banjo fitting to get it to clear since the banjos are grouped much tighter on the DMAX rack. Also the dust boots from a R33 do not fit either fyi, so if you end up doing this install for whatever reason you'll need to grab those too. One caveat with buying the S15 dust boots however is that the clamps are too small to fit on the R33 inner tie rod since they're much thicker so keep the old clamps around. The boots also twist a bit when adjusting toe but it's not a big deal. No issues or leaks so far, steering feels good and it looks like there's a bit more lock now than I had before. Getting an alignment on Saturday so I'll see how it feels then but seems like it'll be good to go
    • I don't get in here much anymore but I can help you with this.   The hole is a vent (air relief) for the brake proportioning valve, which is built into the master cylinder.    The bad news is that if brake fluid is leaking from that hole then it's getting past the proportioning valve seals.   The really bad news is that no spare parts are available for the proportioning valve either from Nissan or after market.     It's a bit of a PITA getting the proportioning valve out of the master cylinder body anyway but, fortunately, leaks from that area are rare in my experience. BTW, if those are copper (as such) brake lines you should get rid of them.    Bundy (steel) tube is a far better choice (and legal  in Australia - if that's where you are).
