hahaha how good does it feel, yr 12 driving a skyline, all the bitches checking ya out lol.

sometimes i used to take my brother's celica st185 GT4 and there was these other yr 12 students in their friggin commodores, one had a VK and one had a VN with aero kit. anyway they were mates and everytime they got out of the carpark they'd do a little burnout, so one day i was getting out of the carpark in my brother's GT4 and they were behind me beeping and acting smart saying you to scared to drag, so i desided to shut em up once and for all. so we got out of the carpark and went on the road, i f**ked em by atleast 4 car lengths, i couldn't even see the VK lol. they thought it was a normal celica they didn't even know wat a GT4 was lol.

Heh me and my mate are so ashamed. When he was in year 12 his parents gave him 7k for a new car so he bought a 95 4 door excel (cause it was auto and fuel efficient blah blah) and then he spent 1.5k on some ROH rims, lowered it, zorst, power chip (lol rofl hahah) and a 3k stereo setup.

So yeah, err... we thought it was da bomb. I wonder what everyone else thought while we cruised Mooloolaba esplanade with the doof doof cranking.

My first car in yr12 was an old school ra28 celica with a 18RG engine. complete with crows feet in the paint and faded beige interior. even still it was one of the "cooler cars" this was in 1995 tho :)

There were a few kids with DC plated that drove daddy's brand new merc.

And one bogan with a 351 in an electric yellow XD falcon. Second semester he wrote it off doing line lockers out the fronrt of the school at lunchtime. Next week he came to school in a beat up old 120Y...

he says he has a gtst, but the turbo laws in NSW prevent him from owning a R33?

Hmmmmm well your actully very far from the truth. I can drive a Supercharged V8 with 40pounds of boost to school if i had that chance to do so. Just becuase i'm 17 doesnt' mean im not aloud to drive a turbo charged car in NSW. I got my Provisional drivers licence in April last year. The new regulations came in i think in June/July last year. Meaning i (along with alot of other 17year old P platers) CAN!!! drive a R33. It's only the unforchant people, who got it after that the new conditions apply to.

Any way, i have lot of people in my year driving each day say a good 20-25, but range from the oldest mazda 121 ive ever seen ( i was paid to install 6.5" Fusions in the door AHAHAHHA you shoudl see it) to carollas and older lancers, acords etc, a couple of older Pulsers, OW and a charade this guy drives who thinks its king shit, allthough its a 80's or somthign modle, wich might have resembled the colour red about 15 years ago LOL

I worked hard for years to get this car, and it feels so good to drive it to school, i never dreamed when i was younger in high school i would be in this situation, but it feels nice, becuase everone says Hey your cars really nice, and im like thank you, then an old carolla with a 3" cannon puts his foot on teh cluch in the middle of the street and revs it. HAHAHHA i go what about his car. LOL

i had a shitty magna when i was in year 12, it was mad fun tho with big-ass stereos in my car. i was young and stupid.

yeah, i wish i could drive something like yours when i was at high school.....

also, there was a guy in my year who had a GTST R33 skyline done up to the Fast and Furious style, and he was a n00b, used to hit full boost at school just so that ppl can hear his BOV. not cool.

have fun with yours mate

- removed because I was wrong -

Either way I am glad you have found happiness. Just give it 2 - 3 years and you will realise needing a car to feel cool and better than everyone else is well, pretty lame... even more so when you smash the car or it gets impounded, and realise everyone was only pretending to think you were cool to get a ride in the car.

Mate, im pretty sure you will find you are wrong. If you owned the car before the rules came in and got an exemption its fine, but if someone with their P's from a week before the rules came in wanted to buy a Skyline now, they couldnt legally drive it (as they dont have the exemption of owning the car before the rules came in).

I think you will find that you are wrong matey.

The prohibited vehicle condition does not apply to:

*Existing provisional (P1 and P2) licence holders prior to 11 July 2005, unless they are disqualified for a serious driving offence committed on or after 11 July 2005.

    *Learner licence holders.

    *Vehicles with diesel powered engines.

    *Suzuki Cappuccino 2D Cabriolet Turbo 3 698cc (1/01/1992 - 1/12/11997).

    *Daihatsu Copen L880 2D Convertible Turbo 4 659cc (1/10/2003- ).

    *Smart vehicles (all models).

If you are unsure if your vehicle is prohibited or you would like more information about P1 and P2 licence conditions phone 13 22 13.

Well there you go :)

hehe good thread.. *thinks of back in the good 'ol days*

When i was driving to school the range of cars were pretty crappy..majority were mid 80's RWD corolla's, late 70's and early 80's model celica's, a few vw beetles, and old statesman v8 burnout machine, a quick datto 260z..I dont know which was the coolest but the flashiest was a brand new excel haha oh dear..

This was 1998 btw

i had a 260z 2+2 with a sunroof  it rocked paint was aweful but body was pretty straight. It even had a 2.8L 280z engine in it it went ok but it made more noise than power :D

its now sitting in dads garage waiting for him to strip it down and build it up... i am so tempted to buy it back

Doesn't apply to

*Learner licence holders.
That's just plain f*****g stupid. You can learn to drive in one, do the test in one, but then you wouldn't be allowed to drive it home!!!!

Michael_1882, while you're at school this year, you might want to ask one of your teachers to teach you to spell:

doesnt' mean im not aloud to drive
Try

doesn't mean I'm not allowed to drive

and

the unforchant people
Try

the unfortunate people

Learners having no restrictions and then being restricted on there Ps has been like this for ever and a day in VIC.

Obviously they make this decision, allowing learners to drive a high powered vehicle, based on the premise that they have a fully licensed driver beside them.

I didnt have a car in year 12 because I didnt go to year 12.

When I was in year 11 though I had a 4 speed TE Cortina, I didnt drive it to school because I didnt even have my Ls but when I got dropped off in it the day I got it my mates laughed. :D

My uncle had a TC Cortina with a worked 351. He sold it when the chassis twisted.

I have my 32 gtst, (just finished y12, had car for 6 months,)

My little bro has a drfit 86. It's gunna be hilarious seing him drift in to Vic Roads to take his tests and lessons.

    • Update 3: Hi all It's been a while. Quite a lot of things happened in the meantime, among other things the car is (almost) back together and ready to be started again. Things that I fixed or changed: Full turbo removal, fitting back the OEM turbo oil hardlines. Had to do quite a bit of research and parts shopping to get every last piece that I need and make it work with the GT2860 turbos, but it does work and is not hard to do. Proves that the previous owner(s) just did not want to. While I was there I set the preload for the wastegates to 0,9bar to hopefully make it easier for the tuner to hit the 370hp I need for the legal inspections that will follow later on. Boost can always go up if necessary. Fitted a AN10 line from the catch can to the intake hose to make the catchcan and hopefully the cam covers a slight vacuum to have less restrictive oil returns from the head and not have mud build up as harshly in the lines and catch can. Removed the entire front interior just shy of the dashboard itself to clean up some of the absolutely horrendous wiring, (hopefully) fix the bumpy tacho and put in LED bulbs while I was there. Also put in bulbs where there was none before, like the airbag one. I also used that chance to remove the LED rpm gauge on the steering column, which was also wired in absolute horror show fashion. Moved the 4in1 Prosport gauge from sitting in front of the OEM oil pressure gauge to the center console vents, I used a 3D printed vent piece to hold that gauge there. The HKB steering wheel boss was likely on incorrectly as I sometimes noticed the indicator reset being uneven for left vs. right. In the meantime also installed an airbag delete resistor, as one should. Installed Cube Speed premium short shifter. Feels pretty nice, hope it'll work great too when I actually get to drive. Also put on a fancy Dragon Ball shift knob, cause why not. My buddy was kind enough to weld the rust hole in the back, it was basically rusted through in the lowermost corner of the passenger side trunk area where the wheel arch, trunk panel and rear quarter all meet. Obviously there is still a lot of crustiness in various areas but as long as it's not rusted out I'll just treat and isolate the corrosion and pretend it's not there. Also had to put down a new ground wire for the rear subframe as the original one was BARELY there. Probably a bit controversial depending on who you ask about this... but I ended up just covering the crack in the side of the engine block, the one above the oil feed, with JB Weld. I used a generous amount and roughed up the whole area with a Dremel before, so I hope this will hold the coolant where it should be for the foreseeable future. Did a cam cover gasket job as the half moons were a bit leaky, and there too one could see the people who worked on this car before me were absolute tools. The same half moons were probably used like 3 times without even cleaning the old RTV off. Dremeled out the inside of the flange where the turbine housing mates onto the exhaust manifolds so the diameter matches, as the OEM exhaust manifolds are even narrower than the turbine housings as we all know. Even if this doesn't do much, I had them out anyways, so can't harm. Ideally one would port-match both the turbo and the manifold to the gasket size but I really didn't feel up to disassembling the turbine housings. Wrapped turbo outlet dumps in heat wrap band. Will do the frontpipe again as well as now the oil leak which promted me to tear apart half the engine in the first place is hopefully fixed. Fitted an ATI super damper to get rid of the worn old harmonic balancer. Surely one of the easiest and most worth to do mods. But torquing that ARP bolt to spec was a bitch without being able to lock the flywheel. Did some minor adjustments in the ECU tables to change some things I didn't like, like the launch control that was ALWAYS active. Treated rusty spots and surface corrosion on places I could get to and on many spots under the car, not pretty or ideal but good enough for now. Removed the N1 rear spats and the carbon surrounding for the tailpipe to put them back on with new adhesive as the old one was lifting in many spots, not pretty. Took out the passenger rear lamp housing... what do you know. Amateur work screwed me again here as they were glued in hard and removing it took a lot of force, so I broke one of the housing bolts off. And when removing the adhesive from the chassis the paint came right off too. Thankfully all the damaged area won't be visible later, but whoever did the very limited bodywork on this car needs to have their limbs chopped off piece by piece.   Quite a list if I do say so myself, but a lot of time was spent just discovering new shit that is wrong with the car and finding a solution or parts to fix it. My last problem that I now have the headache of dealing with is that the exhaust studs on the turbo outlets are M10x1.25 threaded, but the previous owner already put on regular M10 nuts so the threads are... weird. I only found this out the hard way. So now I will just try if I can in any way fit the front pipe regardless, if not I'll have to redo the studs with the turbos installed. Lesson learned for the future: Redo ALL studs you put your hands on, especially if they are old and the previous owners were inept maniacs. Thanks for reading if you did, will update when the engine runs again. Hope nothing breaks or leaks and I can do a test drive.
    • No those pads are DBA too  but they have colors too. I look at the and imo the green "street" are the best.
    • I’m not sure what happened I told them about sonic tunes free OTS tune and the next the I know .. I was booted..   To funny
    • Yea - I mean I've seen my fuel pump which is decades old and uh, while I'm not saying this with real knowledge... but I sure get the ick at using anything in the fuel system that produced the state of that pump. Many years ago I went through multiple pumps (and strainers) before I dropped the tank to clean it out with extreme violence. I'm talking the car would do maybe 50km before coming to a halt, which resulted in me cleaning out the filter with some brake cleaner and going on my way. None of my stuff ever looked like what came out of your fuel tank. I don't think I'd be happy with it unless every single component was replaced (or at least checked/cleaned/confirmed to be clean here).
