Snowy - I agree - the changing conditions with wet in the morning, then drying up, added a whole new dimension to it - especially going from grippy to non-grippy surfaces around the skidpan. Made for a great day! I think that number of cars is just about right too!

I can't speak for everyone - but I think it's more fun to do battles without the knock-outs. That way the drivers who aren't as quick as others still get track-time. It's not any fun if you get knocked out first run.

matt

Also - personally I found this last DECA the most enjoyable of the 3 we have run. Given the trying conditions I thought it ran through pretty well. A lot of that came down to the 3 events in the afternoon which involved no set-up changes and allowed us to get through a lot of runs on 3 events which were very similar but yet IMO all 3 were very different to drive.

So it raises a question I'd just like some general feedback on. Normally in the afternoon we run a slalom knock-out and then a battle type event. Do you guys prefer that kind of variation or did you actually enjoy running timed battles (no knock-out comp) on tracks which were pretty similar but consequently familiar when it came time to run?

Except for Wog in the Ford. It's obvious he's always going to be a hack.

LOL yes, yes I am! I take comfort in knowing I am keeping some people amused and the rest feeling much better about their efforts.

Agreed, it sucked being knocked out first go in November, at least this time I could still ham it up and get another go!

Must say that I loved the long Wang track. More open and you can really wind it up and brake hard. I would have loved some more goes at that. I like the idea of the battles. However if bonus point are awarded, there needs to be parity between cars. I don't want to race a GTR every time

Yep bonus points won't happen. The fast cars already have enough points without getting more points.

Russell - we normally have another back section. It was due to the original low numbers we did run the short wang. But even with the final numbers we did get we wouldn't have had enough officals to run that as well.

But we'll look into more things for the next event. I also enjoyed the new elements on the Long Wang than what we usually have. Stops if from becoming same old same old.

Personally, I much preffered the non-knockout timed runs, and that they were very similar but at the same time quite different. Made it much easier for me to just concentrate on my driving and not on where I'm going.

We all know men can't multi-task...

Nice work Noodle! Must have been the Defi setup that made all the difference. :D

Hey Snowy just a small correction mate it's EDLIN not Eldin.

You guys are just lucky I wasn't running.

hey thanks Zol... Yeah the Defi setup definately gave me an extra 50rwkw!

and yeah I haven't been bothered to correct it but it is Edlin not Eldin but I know who your talking about

you probably wouldn't have wanted to run with us anyway Zol... you might have got that beautiful paintjob dirty!

has anyone got any pics of my silver poo mobile in action? so I can change my avatar

.......... Congrats to winners and Matt Lowth for coming 4th in a stockish WRX, you drove very well every time I went for a ride with you ;) ..... you'd just hit a cone at the end lol.

I somehow managed 2nd fastest car on long track after Snowy and did ok NECK BASTA :D:blink: ... other than that I sucked big time :) , but had fun :)

p.s. Dave....... car weights 1100kg not 1000kg

The award for the strongest drinking team during dinner would have to go to Snowy and James for having two 1.4 litre mageritas EACH. Thats a total of 2.8 litres of alcoholic drinks each before we even hit the nightclubs!

Outstanding Performance...

As the only girl who drank 2 - I feel like I should get something dammit!!!

TOPS weekend boys and girls. Thanks to all who helped out on the day & thanks Ash for cooking lunch.

Everyone made it another great social weekend. Ahhh Shepparton - one day we just wont be allowed back.

Now - how long do I have to recover???

    • Was going to say the car pulls up nicely everywhere, especially going into that last long right hander before the main straight. Looks like a lot of fun.
    • Hey Dave, welcome aboard! Good to see another soon-to-be Stagea owner here. The wagons are awesome — plenty of space, still got that Skyline DNA, and loads of potential if you’re into mods. Definitely post up pics when you get it, everyone here loves seeing new builds. What model/year are you looking at?
    • See if you can thermal epoxy a heatsink or two onto it?
    • The other problem was one of those "oh shit we are going to die moments". Basically the high spec Q50s have a full electric steering rack, and the povo ones had a regular hydraulic rack with an electric pump.  So couple of laps into session 5 as I came into turn 2 (big run off now, happily), the dash turned into a christmas tree and the steering became super heavy and I went well off. I assumed it was a tyre failure so limped to the pits, but everything was OK. But....the master warning light was still on so I checked the DTCs and saw – C13E6 “Heat Protection”. Yes, that bloody steering rack computer sitting where the oil cooler should be has its own sensors and error logic, and decided I was using the steering wheel too much. I really appreciated the helpful information in the manual (my bold) POSSIBLE CAUSE • Continuing the overloading steering (Sports driving in the circuit etc,) “DATA MONITOR” >> “C/M TEMPERATURE”. The rise of steering force motor internal temperature caused the protection function to operate. This is not a system malfunction. INSPECTION END So, basically the electric motor in the steering rack got to 150c, and it decided to shut down without warning for my safety. Didn't feel safe. Short term I'll see if I can duct some air to that motor (the engine bay is sealed pretty tight). Long term, depending on how often this happens, I'll look into swapping the povo spec electric/hydraulic rack in. While the rack should be fine the power supply to the pump will be a pain and might be best to deal with it when I add a PDM.
    • And finally, 2 problems I really need to sort.  Firstly as Matt said the auto trans is not happy as it gets hot - I couldn't log the temps but the gauge showed 90o. On the first day I took it out back in Feb, because the coolant was getting hot I never got to any auto trans issues; but on this day by late session 3 and then really clearly in 4 and 5 as it got hotter it just would not shift up. You can hear the issue really clearly at 12:55 and 16:20 on the vid. So the good news is, literally this week Ecutek finally released tuning for the jatco 7 speed. I'll have a chat to Racebox and see what they can do electrically to keep it cooler and to get the gears, if anything. That will likely take some R&D and can only really happen on track as it never gets even warm with road use. I've also picked up some eye wateringly expensive Redline D6 ATF to try, it had the highest viscosity I could find at 100o so we will see if that helps (just waiting for some oil pan gaskets so I can change it properly). If neither of those work I need to remove the coolant/trans interwarmer and the radiator cooler and go to an external cooler....somewhere.....(goodbye washer reservoir?), and if that fails give up on this mad idea and wait for Nissan to release the manual 400R
