Guys drving like w*anks of the gippsland highway in groups, doing illegal overtaking etc etc, with the passengers in the cars videoing it etc. There were three pictures, two of them showed cars doing burnouts but the biggest picture and what the article was mainly talking about was the Skyline. It was an orange 33, with 400r rear wing, skirts I think, GTR wing, big chrome wheels. If your on here mate your a tosser....

Ok here is the link to the article, just found it. No pic so I think I will scan the photo of the 33 if my scanner is working!

He encouraged passing motorists to use new technology, such as camera phones, to their advantage.

"If you've got the technology, then use it," he said.

"All we need is the numberplate and a description of the driver and we can follow it up from there."

WTF they want people to use their phone while travelling at 80kmh+ and they will follow it up just from a rego and description??? c'mon you can catch someone stealing something on film or photograph someone carrying a baby on their lap... and the police claim they cant do SHIT unless they catch them doing it???

"They were all hotted up with huge exhausts and everything." :)

Cool... I drive a "hotted up" car ;)

But, on a serious note, it was stupid what they did, but, how are laws or more police going to prevent it?

More police just annoy drivers as they can't enjoy a nice little drive every now and then, ( hill climb or something like that ) which eventually leads to them getting fed up and just doing it anyway out of frustration somewhere stupid.

Laws.. Ok how about the new no turbo etc laws? In my opinion more pople are being idiots now that they are just driving tired old cars around ( old holdens and fords etc ) and thrashing them without a care in the world because, they have little to lose, compared to say if they were driving an r32 gts-t or an s13-14 etc...

That's just my two cents..

That a great comment Nick. Many people are careful in cars such as skylines etc because they attract cops like flys to horsesh**...

put some P-platers in a $200 camira and who cares if it get confiscated, wrapped round a tree etc? (provided no one is injured of course)

The Govt isnt allowing young drivers to get experience anymore, and when there are very little places for "hoons" to get this stuff out of their system is guna happen on the roads. put up a 1/4 mile track and have entry cheap and there will be less accidents as the hoons have a safe place to do this crap.

Yeah, good point. Keep a copy of the article in your car somewhere and if you caught on your phone or smsing (which you shouldnt anyway..) just whip out the article and say well it told me to do it...

jackasses - now the cops will be on the lookout for anyone driving a jap import......

But i also heard something like, if the cops dont have any proof of the incidents, they will not follow it up.

Not that cops will not following up, just that they too lazi to be bothered with untill they are pushed or something make them to. (ie. publicity etc.)

My car was stolen, got a footage from a survailance camera, and yea, cop dont give a sh1t, cos its just a car.

after this incident, am sure import cars drivers gona have a hard time. :P

I can guarantee you that plenty of Magazine photographers hang out of cars like that or worse. How else do you think they get some of the crazy angled moving shots otherwise. I am not condoning the activity of course, just saying that it isn't just "hoons" that are doing that sort of thing.

    • The final part arrived today to un-clampify and simplify the intake Who would have though a 1/2" hose stainless bulkhead fitting designed for below waterline bilge pumps would be what I needed Test fit on a 3" offcut I had laying around to see if it would work, and it worked a treat All going well the intake will be on its "final version" tomorrow
    • Good luck on the weekend mate
    • Must have been an absolute nightmare to drive when the power steer was out, the rack ratio/wheel size/caster is all set up for power assistance
    • Welcome to SAU, what are you looking at buying?
    • I checked the injectors again (1 and 2, since they’re easiest to access) to make sure they weren’t clogged. Even though the entire fuel system had been cleaned, I wanted to be certain. Everything looked clean, so I reinstalled and connected everything. When I started the car to confirm everything was okay, it immediately revved up high, so I shut it off straight away. I checked to see if I’d missed a vacuum hose or something, but everything was connected. On the second attempt, the car ran without the high idle, but I noticed a distinct “compressed air” sound coming from the engine bay. Tracing the sound, I pushed injector #6 forward slightly and the noise stopped — it turned out it wasn’t seated properly, despite the fuel rail being bolted down. While holding it in place, the car idled steadily without stalling and ran for over 5 minutes. At this point, I pulled all six injectors out just in case I hadn’t seated them correctly or dirt had gotten onto the O-rings. Unfortunately, I discovered that I had damaged 3 out of 6 injectors (the OEM 270cc ones) during installation. So yes, this was my fault. Since only the pintle caps were damaged, I’ve ordered a Fuel Injector Service Kit from NZEFI to refurbish them. In the meantime, I reinstalled my new injectors – the car now idles fine for over 15 minutes without stalling. I have not attempted to drive it so far. It’s not perfect yet, as it hesitates when the throttle is pressed, but it’s a big improvement. Unplugging the IACV with the new injectors idles at around 800rpm, even with the IACV screw tightened fully. But this is probably due to tune.
