Yeh do it! s15 front would be rarish, but not impossible to source. well worth doing if you can do without ya car for a few weeks.

s14 silvia is still a newer model, i *think* the front still looks similar to the s15?. the s13 is the older kind (1992 etc)

at least it would be unique hey :D

Thank adam and gts-t.... I have to NOW go to a certified RAC repairer..... So at least my car will be fixed... but I don't think I can go "hey do a sileighty conversion for me - oh and its on the RAC" hahahaha

Aidwin is getting his car done at bently autoworkshop.....

Sneeza, better to walk than go in a Commodore

Do you know whats funny?.....no of course you don't Paul :D sorry hahaha

Ummm anyway the guys that came with the car trailer from my SES unit - well one of them has an SS dunnydooor - he was going to come in that. Wouldnt that have been a perfect photo opportunity - trev car towing jap car. hahaha

okay well if you want to contact RAC speak to your claims officer and ask them if you are able to get another quote to fix your car. because you want to take it to a friend who you know does good work. Then if you can afford, pay a towie $60 or so and tow it elsewhere SAY C-RED for example and get them to do it all. Try to squeeze how much rac is paying for your repairs or what the quote is from your repairer. You can most times call your repairer who RAC authorised and talk to the reception chick and ask her for a copy of the quote for your memorabilia of your car cos you keep records of everything. Suss out with c-red against the cost from the RAC repairer and walla ask C-red to make it cheaper. They can claim up to the RAC repairer cost if it goes over and you pay c-red the difference.

phew there ya go.

I did this with my lancer GSR, got a full bodykit fitted for the cost that Lombardi brothers quoted just to fix some damage on my driver door and interior console etc and then i sourced the console stuff for $50 out of my pocket, bargain mate

hehe its all good fun tihs insurance crap.

They are gonna pay out that amount regardless so why not work it in your favour. anyways jeff or glen or greg will know what i am talking about and you might be able to convince them

you can also try ground FX in malaga they are an insurance repairer and can prolly do this, speak to tony. oh yeah and you gotta act fast and take RAC by storm ...baby yeah!!

    • Yeah, the thread is only nearly 20 years old.
    • Been down in Tassie for 2 weeks (a cruise, not a race for once) but spent a little time on her when I got back. I worked out the injector settings in the PowerFC were not correct for nismo 555s, set those to 66% +10ms and added a little air at closed throttle, set the timing (approximately, because it has some weird non 15o cells around idle) and now she starts and idles properly. She purrs like a kitten (ignore the co2 alarm in the background, I did  ) 20250518_171052.mp4 Next step, off for run-in, tuning and alignment!
    • Went to a drift practice day at a local circuit (held on the reserve parking area behind the grandstand) for the first time in about 15 years. Some kei cars were drifting as well, a not so surprising Suzuki Carry truck, and two 1st gen Daihatsu Copens that were converted to rear wheel drive(!) using Daihatsu Boon X4 transfer case, prop shaft and rear diff, obviously omitting the front driveshafts. They looked really fun to slide. I heard that they cost "about half" as much as a Nissan Silvia etc to run.  On the track 'Tech M' a local BMW tuning garage had a customer track day. Mainly recent models but there was one E36 which looked ancient among all the current models. It was cool watching the drifting and then turning around and seeing random people thrashing their M3/4s  central-circuit-drift-practice-2025-05-18-long-yt.mp4
    • I prefer it with those wheels (sacrilege?) 😋 Here's a photo of a fully original one for reference. The price is $350K....
    • I would like to keep it around 15k but if I need more to make it reliable and not have to worry about the car breaking I can go more. It's my project car so I'm just trying g to figure out what needs to be in it i know basic things like turbo cams injectors I'm just unsure of the size and the specifics so I'm spending alot of time on Google and its mostly rb25 and rb26 not alot on neo
