got in shed, fmic, 040 fuel pump, turbo tech boot controller.

got to get a pod and I'm thinking about brake upgrade. but first I think I'll go too the dentist.

For '3 items' Id do it wisely and look for some second hand near-new items (go ebay!) and get some new items at discount prices (forums are good for this). So itd have to be 3 different areas of performance for me to justify my cash (my car is auto 4wd Stagea):

a) Exhaust/airflow = full exhaust ($1000), intercooler ($750), CAI box with pod filter ($250)

b) Suspension setup = most of Sydneykids suspn group buy kit ($1800)

b) ECU's = Apexi SAFC, Apexi SITC, Electronic Boost Controller, all dynotuned ($1200)

Around 5k. Ive already done all this and more for a total of 7k, lots of mods. =0 Next one for me is the turbo to make it all 'work together'! :P

My budget is around 12k of mods on top of my 18k car, over a couple of yrs. If you do it wisely the money can go very far indeed.

Well, my car had a rebuild by the previous own so theres a few thigns in there that I can't guess the cost of.

For me at the mo its..

1. PowerFC D-Jetro, EBC and tune - $2552

2. DBA4000 rotors and Ferodo pads - $500

3. Accessories (wheel, knob, etc :D ) - ~$?

So far for the Galant I have TD05-16G Turbo, Chipped ECU, 055 AFM and Intake Pipe, 720cc injectors, and a Bosch 040 pump all sitting in a box waiting to be fitted. about $1270.00 so far...

17x7's and 215-45's went on a couple of weeks ago $1080.00 from wheels-online off eBay...

My suspension was already done when the car arrived but a whiteline rear swaybar would help turn-in, $370ish...

Boost controller on the way from Nengun as I type, $417.15...

Exhaust also done, but intercooler piping needs to be upgraded to 2 1/2" $450.00

Need a Dump pipe (about) $650 clutch $400ish and a LSD for the rear diff $????

By my calcs that comes to just about $5k without the diff.

Put together and driven right that's a recipe for a mid-low 12sec VR4 (ok, maybe not with my stiff suspension)

Damn I need that last grand.......

$300 for a dump pipe, max

Unfortunatly the dump for a VR4 is like a dump and front pipe in one with a flex section in the middle, a decent, split dump that doesn't obstruct the oil filter is not easy to get and not cheap. Almost got me looking at making my own if I can co-ordinate the borrowing of a machine shop and TIG.

    • Just had this happen to me too.  R32 GTR.   Also broke "just before going out onto the track" - someone up there is looking out for us... Very scary since I was about to do a narrow street course with zero run-off and curbs everywhere. Many people on here upgrading to billet uprights and R35 bearings?   Or buying new OEM knuckles?  I am not keen to replace with another s/h 30 year old fatigued part.
    • Top off with distilled water and see what happens. If you keep losing coolant then you know to start looking.
    • Nope.    Grab a varex and turn it down as you get close to home, win win?
    • So, I've had my V36 for about a month now and have already copped an "excessive exhaust noise" notification from QLD TMR, reported by someone in my local area. It's a twin as per the original, and can have a bit of a throaty note to it when idling cold 😄 and if I do get up it a bit, it can be noisy, but it did pass a roadworthy inspection before sale, so.... ... but in the interest of being a good neighbour, I do want to quieten it down a bit. Is anyone here running a quiet aftermarket cat-back on their V36 or 370Z? And the big, bold question: does an aftermarket cat-back really make much of a performance difference on these cars?
    • The wiring diagram for the R33 RB25 is freely available, and is essentially the same same as most other RBs (just with differences as to which pin # does which job). To get the ECU to power up, you just need to provide power to the ECCS relay, and have the other power feeds that come in from the top left of the wiring diagram (wrt the ECU) that give perma power to the fuel pump relay, the ECU itself, etc etc, all connected. When you put power on all these it will just come to life. It's pretty clear from the diagram what needs to happen. Just follow the lines from the 12V + supply stuff in the top left over towards the ECU. I've even posted snips of such diagrams (not for vanilla 25, I think for Neo and 26) to various threads here in the last few months, talking about what it takes to get the fuel pump and FPCM up and going. Search these up and they will help get you started on doing the same with the vanilla 25 diagram. Hell, for all I know, I've done the same with that one in years past and have forgotten.
